PLEASE READ! The last thing that I want to be doing during my moment of grief is writing a review. However, my experience with this place was so egregious that my conscience would bother me immensely if I thought for one moment that another grieving individual would come across this place and read only the good reviews and think this is a choice for them. I have lost many people in my life from grandparents to children and many others in between, and so I have had a lot of experience in this area. In my experience, people in the funeral services business are some of the kindest, most empathetic people out there. I always considered them angels on God's mission. If you feel that way too, stay as far away from this place as possible. Below is my complete experience with elemental cremation and burial, conversation verbatim, no edits: I research their website, read google and yelp reviews, decide to call them first: Elemental: may I help you? Me: I just found out my mother passed away, I found you online and after reading your reviews, I really hope that I have called the right place. Elemental: so you want some prices? (Note: this is verbatim. No "my condolences" no "I'm sorry for your loss", nothing). Me: um. I guess. Most importantly, I'd like to speak to someone about making arrangements and having her taken care of right away. She passed away at home, and my sister is there with her right now and I'm out of state. Elemental: so you want prices then? Me: wow. Um yeah i guess but thats not my main concern. My mom has been in the house with my sister awhile so i want to know how soon you can pick her up? .....Hello? Are you still there? Elemental: hold music playing. Me: hangs up call in complete shock. For the record, I am not an overly emotional, touchy-feely, kind of person. And so I really wasn't looking for a lot sympathy wise. But given the line of work they are in I expected a little bit more than what I got especially in comparison to all of my previous experiences. I cannot imagine anyone signs up to be treated like this on such a sad day in their life. I get it, I understand that they're in the business to make money and want to make sure they get paid, but if this is how they do it, that's really sad. There are so many wonderful, compassionate, amazing places out there doing this work. Places that find gentle and respectful ways to talk to you about money while also respecting your grief. I felt like that was 101 in this business, guess i was wrong. In other words, had I stayed away from elemental cremation & burial, I would not have had to take time out of everything else that needs to be done, to sit down and write a review about this awful place. But like i said, i can't risk someone else choosing this place after reading the glowing reviews i read. No one wants to send their loved ones off with people as disrespectful as this; And no dearly departed wants their loved ones left behind to be treated like this. read more

Cremation services hopefully aren't something you need very often, but when you do, it is good to have a place that can provide consistent and quality service. When you have a parent or loved one that is in their last season of life, gathering all necessary information to ensure all goes smoothly on their last day in the physical realm can be a process, and unexpected challenges can arise. 3 months before my father's death, I reached out to 3 different funeral homes and Cremation/Burial facilities in the Seattle area. All 3 quoted different prices, but it was the initial conversation and follow up provided specifically by Jeff J. of Elemental Cremation & Burial that made me choose this company. There were a few logistical challenges and permitting issues to work through, as remains were to be mailed out of state, and Jeff patiently worked though them all. I had many questions, and with a busy travel schedule, was rarely available by phone. Jeff responded to every single one of my emails, and remained professional and compassionate every step of the way. Jeff J. and Elemental Cremation & Burial is a true example of excellence in customer service and satisfaction, which is a rarity these days. Even a few months after all was done, I needed an invoice to submit and he responded quickly. In managing my father's affairs in his last season of life, I have dealt with so many companies and service providers that were simply awful to work with. No return calls or emails, no follow up, etc. Jeff and his team remained genuine, compassionate, and professional throughout all steps of this process. They quickly arrived to the nursing home in the middle of the night and kept me informed every step of the way in the transport of my father to his final resting place. I am so grateful for Jeff and his genuineness. You can't buy this type of kindness and understanding. I had a lot of options and was heavily influenced to use a different company, but I'm 100% satisfied and glad I chose to go with my intuition in working with Jeff. Thank you Jeff and your team. We ultimately didn't go with their service because we wanted a more elaborate viewing room/experience than the small room attached to the cremation center. However, their staff was so nice, that I still felt compelled to write a review. They actually had one of their staff meet us at the cremation sight, even though this is not actually physically located at their office. It was really super nice of them and not something we found any of the other funeral homes readily offered, since the cremation center is usually off site. read more

I contacted multiple cremation services and was shocked by some of the prices and lack of empathy. When I called Elemental, I was surprised by the pleasant and sympathetic voice on the other end. They were upfront with their prices and their were no hidden fees. They were prompt and professional. When my loved one passed away, they handled the rest...from contacting the nursing home, retrieving the body for cremation, processing the death certificate, and giving our family the remains/ashes of our loved one...all within one week! I did not have a good experience with this place as my one star review reflects. At a time of mourning you expect the professionals who are helping you navigate this difficult time, to be caring most of all. I dealt with several of the employees and not a single one wished me condolences, which I found very insensitive and it felt just very businesslike. Also, they lost my first application that I had sent to them, so I had to start all over again, not to mention some mistakes they made along the way, which I had to point out myself instead of them catching and correcting it. read more

If you find yourself reading this review, you likely will be as torn as I was, realizing I was actually reading yelp reviews about cremation needs following the passing of my father just hours before. Is this just TOO weird? No. When the time comes, the last thing you want is a sales pitch. Or unanswered questions. Or scripted condolences. Really. Jeff kept it simple, respectful, up front, and was willing to answer every question with concise, thoughtful answers. This might be too much information, but when he arrived at the care facility to take my father into his care...always referred to by his name...thank you...dad was placed carefully on a simple stretcher with a beautiful patchwork quilt over him but not his face. It was a loving, gentle, and soft memory of seeing my father for the last time. Keep it simple, keep it environmentally smart, keep it affordable yet respectful. I was moved to work with Elemental based on their reviews online. I am from the East Coast, and when my Mother passed away, suddenly, I had no idea with whom to work in the Seattle area. I can see, now, why they are so highly recommended. Rae was extremely understanding, compassionate and professional. She helped me work through everything, and even offered me a special, limited time to say goodbye to my mother in a private setting. She was very tender and understanding, even when in our confusion and grief, my sister and I misread and put incorrect information on a form. The location for viewing in Kent is industrial, which may seem off-putting, but the inside is simply and elegantly outfitted, with a lovely room where a family can host friends or a hold a simple ceremony. I felt very comfortable, there, respected, and well taken care of. Their services met the request of my Mother for simplicity, and my needs for compassion. I just used Elemental after my spouse died. If you want a straightforward cremation with no ceremony or bells and whistles they do a fine job. But it really is a bare bones operation with the Seattle office being one person in a small office in a shared space office suite. Cremation was over a week from the time they collected his body from our home, I don't know if that is normal. The "care facility" and crematorium is in Kent. Don't expect anything like a regular funeral home experience. Then again they were half the price of the regular funeral home I contacted for basically the same services. read more
