Not my cup of tea. Front desk staff was not friendly, can tell it was an older property that they tried to make trendy. Lobby looks better than the rooms. I was in a handicapped accessible room and it took forever to figure out how to pull down the blinds. Holes in wall and crumbs in utensil hole on counter.

When in West DSM... Actually, I hadn't really spent much time in the area but Element treated this WDSM newbie just fine. It's definitely a more suburban feel in the area but there's also free parking and a very friendly/warm lobby. I spent less than 8 hours total in my room but I must say it was well-equipped a kitchenette, desk and lounge chair. Plus a heavenly king-sized bed. Not much to report on the view since it was a dreary, winter midwest day. Bummer that I didn't get to take advantage of the complimentary happy hour or breakfast, but that really is a nice touch for business travelers, that way they don't have to venture outside if they don't want to or don't have the time. And even though it's "complimentary", the price per night definitely reflects these amenities. Just under $200/night is kinda sorta pricey for suburban Des Moines. That being said, it's a busy time of year, the week before caucus voting. So that probably had an impact on rates. Overall, totally clean, totally nice, and totally recommended if you find yourself in this neck of the woods.

Beautiful and comfortable hotel in a great location! Our stay at the element was great! Staff was super friendly throughout, our room was spacious and very clean, and all the freebies make it such a treat! I really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast! The chef was able to accommodate my dairy-free diet, and the pancakes he made fresh were SO good. If you've never stayed in an Element, you're missing out!

    Cute decor in our room!

Gorgeous new hotel! Love! Very modern and very clean! Very close to many good restaurants and at least one pub. And...they are pet friendly!!! Yay! No bad odors in the room. The bed, bedding, and furniture were all comfortable, new, clean, and modern. Great place!!!

Such a beautiful hotel, kept super clean. Has an indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, fireplace, wii, and lots of patio and lobby seating. The continental breakfast was amazing, lots of options and there was a chef Rosa who made amazing French toast to order. Overall wonderful hotel and amazing staff.

Next time my parents are staying in town I'm going to recommend staying at Element! Located on a beautiful property, with a location walking distance to several bars, shopping, and eateries! This green hotel has bikes to hop on, so you can head to the mall or the bike paths, you will soon be able to even rent a dog for a walk and maybe even start adoption papers! The staff is super nice, they have a happy hour Monday-Thursday that includes great food, and drinks. They do a free breakfast in the morning. The rooms are modern and really nice and come with all the comforts of home.. From plates, to ovens, to fridges! They have great conference rooms for your next biz meeting, and who wants to take a swim in the salt water pool after a long meeting.. I do I do, or work out in the huge gym! Or a hot tub in the sun, or a drink by the fire pit at night! This is a high end experience but not priced that way at all! Some room come in at under 150 bucks which is amazing when you think about all you get! So glad Element is now in Des Moines.. Fun, Green, and ready to be seen!

Went for a cocktail hour and tour. This place was uber swanky, clean and new. They offer yoga and have bikes you can use to hop on a nearby trail. They also have a foster dog area too. The staff are incredibly friendly and super helpful as well. If I were to need a place for friends or family to stay this would be top of my list. Plus is is right around the corner from my house. Thanks for a delightful happy hour.

The lobby was beautiful, with plenty of places to sit and a coffee making machine that could make you lattes, mochas and even hot chocolate, which I utilized multiple times. The pool was clean and brightly lit and honestly beautiful. The rooms were clean and had that extra blanket and pillow in the closet that you always hope is there when you want to feel extra cozy. This Best Western is clearly run by hospitable, welcoming people who know what they're doing. The only critique I have is that the elevator buttons seemed a little old, but they were still working properly. I felt well taken care of, cozy and comfortable, and all at a reasonable price. I would stay there again for sure. I can't wait to have another hot chocolate by their fireside in the lobby. Keep it up, you guys! I had such an amazing time. We'll be back!

It seemed to be a VERY personal call in my opinion and perhaps maybe too personal to be making at work, especially where patrons can hear you and particularly when your personal call keeps your patrons waiting to check in for several minutes. After he finally told the person on the other end that he had to go because he had customers, the rest of the process went smoothly. We liked the location and the room was comfortable. The morning breakfast was good, with a good variety and comfortable dining area. This will definitely be the hotel we use for future visits to Des Moines.

I'm so happy I checked Yelp to find this wonderful hotel in the Des Moines area…read more We were caught in a snow storm while driving through MN which delayed our trip for hours. We didn't want to drive much further. It was getting late so I looked for a hotel in the Des Moines area. This popped up right off the freeway so we decided to give it a try. As we walked in, we immediately noticed all the nice decor and artwork. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays as well. The front desk attendant was very nice and quickly got us settled down we would have time to grab a bite to eat before the kitchen closed. The room was nice and clean. Bed & pillows very comfortable. Plenty of towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner. Robes! We liked all the modern touches. My only issue is what I have with almost all hotels. While I very much appreciate a coffee maker in the room, hotels always add decaf coffee instead of additional regular coffee. Who drinks decaf? So you need to make the extra trip downstairs to ask for regular coffee. We went to the bar/restaurant downstairs for drinks, a bite to eat and to watch Thursday night football. First, the bar is very cool with a pool table and several TV's. Nice wall art and comfortable barstools. Sadly, they don't offer any streaming of any kind in this hotel so there was no way to watch the NFL games on their TV's at the bar or in the rooms. Fortunately, I was able to get it in my phone app but could not project to their regular TV's. Our bartenders were Eddie at first, then Tyler who took over towards the end of the night. Both bartenders were super attentive and friendly. For food, we ordered the Burrata, chicken wings and the Revel Flatbread. The wings were nice and crispy, the burrata yummy and the flatbread was thin and crispy. All were actually delicious which I wouldn't normally expect from a small hotel. Very nice! The hotel offers a free buffet breakfast to guests as well as made to order. Honestly the buffet breakfast has everything from hot to cold. It has a toaster and microwave if needed. It was quite a spread. Plenty of juice & milk varieties. The food was delicious. They also offer free bottled water if you run out of water in the room. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. We were probably two if twenty guests in the hotel which was very surprising as it is a decent price for what you receive overall as a guest. I would definitely recommend the hotel if you are passing through.

I…read morehad zero expectations, but I also knew that booking with Hilton's boutique hotels would give me a uniquely curated stay. And that it was! The Revel Hotel is a beautiful, relatively new boutique hotel that is part of Hilton's Tapestry collection. The hotel pays homage to local Midwest culture in an elegant and visually stunning way. From the lobby's western decor to the minor details within the guest rooms, no detail was spared in the design of this space. It boasts modern amenities while preserving the classic perks folks love, including complimentary breakfast for hotel guests. There is a restaurant and bar on-site, offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and staying open late for drinks. The only downside is that the bar and lobby are located in the same area, and at least on the weekend we visited, it got a bit loud in the evening, which made me feel bad for any rooms on the first floor. To play it safe, if you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend a room on a higher floor. I also wasn't too fond of the fact that there is no pool on this property. If you'd like to use the pool, you must walk over to the neighboring "Hotel Renovo", which is their sister hotel, use your key card, bring your room towels, use the pool, and then walk back. This commute is a bit inconvenient, especially when traveling with little ones and older adults, which is the only reason I didn't award this stay five stars. The hospitality here was fantastic. We were warmly greeted by a young lady named Tania, who went above and beyond to ensure our welcome and stay were nothing short of spectacular. She texted me before our arrival to ask if there were anything we would need, as well as throughout our stay to check in and provide any assistance if needed. She greeted us with complimentary, ice-cold water bottles. I loved and appreciated all of those touches. Check-in was uncomplicated through the Hilton app. All Tania confirmed was my identity using my ID and provided physical key cards if we wanted them. Otherwise, we could use the mobile key cards accessible through the Hilton app. Less than 15 mins! Check-out was equally as simple; no need to stop by the front desk if you used the app. Our stay was so exceptional that I've considered returning exclusively to enjoy the hotel and all its amenities thoroughly. Until I return, I'm recommending them to anyone who finds themselves in this neck of the woods.

The building and room looks like it was retrofitted to be a hotel. The room was clean and tidy. At the restaurant I ordered the cobb salad and it took around 20 minutes, but it made sense once it arrived. Everything seemed freshly prepared from the avocado slices to the frshly seared chicken. I had also ordered a whiskey flight on the chalkboard menu. The team did not seem aware that it was offerred, but arranged it anyway. The flight is supposed to be 2 oz of four whiskeys thry give you the option to choose from. I think the whiskeys I got were at least 4 oz. No complaints, just surprised. Staff was very friendly and easy to talk menu options. The menu also is not all that complicated.

For the most part the serving staff didn't speak English, so I'm guessing a lot got lost in translation. the bartenders were great and personable. our hotel room was nice. there is a definite need for more trash cans in the rooms. front desk staff was great. there was a broken elevator and I know other event goers were irritated as well as other guests. it took forever to get an elevator. if I'm staying on the upper floors, I don't want to have to take 8 or 9flights of steps. The food and the elevator were my biggest issues with our experience .
