Fine place to stay for the night when passing through Des Moines. It was clean, safe, and accessible to stores/restaurants.

The room was clean and comfortable. Location was close enough to the highway and was only a 15 minute drive into Des Moines. Although the staff were friendly, check-in took a while to complete. Was acknowledged by staff at the cafe that someone would assist me shortly, but they didn't call anyone to come out. When the person finally did, was ignored, took her time restocking items at the cafe before coming over to check me in. Comfortable rooms, but service during check-in was a bit lacking. read more

The carpet in the room smelled like a wet dog. We could open the patio door and turn the air conditioner down. That helped. Older style. Nothing fancy. The yard around the courtyard needs mowed and the bushes need trimmed. read more

I chose this hotel for the location and it was centralized for shopping, dining, and visiting Mercy Hospital. At check in I was a little disappointed in the lack of professionalism of the staff, but Bradley made up for it the next two days when he helped me extend my stay and answered my questions about the Marriott breach of security news that came up on my second day. I didn't use any of the amenities, so I cannot comment on them. The bathroom in my room had peeling wallpaper and I have responded to a survey from the hotel regarding the need to spruce up the room a bit. In town for business so I was here for a week and it was so nice! The staff were super friendly and welcoming, The rooms and hotel was very clean! The bed was super comfy and the best part of my room was the shampoo, conditioner and body wash... I know that sounds crazy how would that be such a game changer - allow me to explain. Visiting as many hotels that I do having those tiny little bottles of mystery shampoo/conditioner/body wash always runs out, breaks out or drys the ISH out of my skin so I have taken to bring my own HOWEVER this place has full size bottles of Tea Tree products!!! Game changer! First of all if you know anything about the products you'll totally understand my excitement but also what a great environmental change this hotel has taken. Think of the amount of tiny bottles of plastic that end up in land fills or the ocean and this location is making one positive step to improve that - even just Little!! The hotel had a great little cafe, business center, gym, guest laundry and even a pool and a super cute courtyard - I truly enjoyed this hotel so much and fully plan to return when I'm back in town!! The only thing I could complain about is the lack of outlets in the rooms. There were two on each side of the bed and the lamp has two but they were all plugs no usb chargers and for most of us that have an iPad, iPhones (work and personal), computer, headset charger etc etc having a few more would be the cherry on the sundae!! read more

This is a solid hotel with a convenient location in a new, plush West Des Moines neighborhood. My wife and I had a very nice stay here in late Aug. We had a comfortable, stylish bedroom with a King bed, facing the gorgeous, inviting courtyard (see pics). This hotel has a beautiful, indoor swimming pool with large pic-windows; a nice fitness room, and a guest laundry room, which we put to good use. Free wifi everywhere. Its staff was friendly and helpful, who told us about a nice restaurant (Biaggi Italian) in the neighborhood, which was indeed excellent. Strangely, though, it did not offer free MORNING COFFEE in the lobby! It is an important amenity to most travellers upon departure. Nowadays, almost all hotels offer it. read more

Not only did I hear about BED BUGS. This hotel Assistant manager stole money from my family. We are a family of 5 and had an emergency, it was personal but they would not refund even though I could not go on this trip. I had to tell them about my persnoal situation with my father having a heart attack and hoped they would give me my money. They do not care. This hotel will steal your money even if you cannot make it to the hotel. Then they will tell you all about how it's the policy and no exceptions. I wouldnt think a multi billior dollar hotel chain would need the money more than a family of 5 in a struggling economy. I had to work 7 hours of my life to pay for that hotel and they just stole 7 hours of my life that I had to work to pay for that. I wish we could of went on this trip but glad we didn't stay there due to the BED BUGS. However I wish I could have that 7 hours of my life back so I could use that money to buy food for my 3 childred. MATT HOOD is the assistant manager. STAY CLEAR OF THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS!!! The staff is very attentive to guest needs. Making sure you are comfortable, have what you need, when you need it, is a Marriott strong point, and this hotel is a great example. The property itself is showing its age. Nothing is raggedy or broken, just not completely fulfilling Marriott expectations. However, the location is great for calm and quiet. Would I stay here again? Great hotel. Comfy bed. Nice location - walk to Chili's and Applebee's in a pinch. Spa was hot and pool was cool. I did a quick 30 min bike ride set in the gym on a very nice Recumbent bike. Staff was best of the best. Coffee in room - good single cup coffee - however, tap water tased like yucky yuck - so had to buy bottled water from the front desk - Caution - Fiji Water is $6.50 per bottle - Yikes - There is an off brand available as well that is $3.50 for 1L. Still pricy, but nothing has prices on it - so it can add up your room tab quick if you are not careful. I ate a flatbread from their lobby bistro. Worth the $8.50 - Very fresh ingredients and tasty - I also ordered avocado toast for breakfast one morning - really great - included a pickled onion side with fresh, crisp arugula in a nice vinaigrette and a hard boiled egg - I would actually consider stopping by here just to eat! Not kidding - their bistro is really good! Full bar as well! The water pressure in the shower was very low - but there is a massage setting that helped a little - while sacrificing spread of spray. Towels were soft and Big! not a cheap motel towel - Blankets are light - but there was a spare in a drawer just in case. Nice TV had sharp picture and swiveled so you could watch on couch or from bed. I would stay here again - while the food wasn't included - the cost for meals was reasonable and very fresh and tasty. Stayed here a few times for soccer tourneys. You kinda got to weave around road, then it pops up on your left. Its clean, nice, and does the job. Are there better.. yes... are there cheaper... yes Its close to the interstate and easy access to Jordan Creek Mall, downtown DSM, and other places. There are a few restaurants near by too. They do have pull-out sleepers. Did have a problem one night (like a prom night) with a very rowdy, obnoxious 'gang' all around us, and in and out, and swearing and being loud, and peeling out near the windows, had to call front desk a few times, and cops came eventually I will update the next time I stay here. read more

The place needs a good cleaning. Pool area nice. I would have given better review but what totally turned us off was their rudeness. They provide breakfast to go but they ask what you want and only give you a little bit. Since we taken granola bars we couldn't have any muffins. Don't be so cheap!!!! And no salt!! read more

This is a newly remodeled Courtyard and it was very nice. The bed was new and comfortable. The room and facility looked great. Check-in was fast and painless. The staff in the restaurant were very pleasant. I would definitely return when in the area. read more

So I had to write this review. I thought of it in the shower tonight. I'm all about consistency and courtyard by marriott has it for sure in every hotel I've been in. I love that every time I come to any courtyard every room, in any state it is exactly the same... Clean and same decor in every room. Second thing I love is that they offer great professional hair shampoo and conditioner (Paul Mitchell)--that's the hair stylist coming out in me. The Bistro has great food! Last thing I will write about are the showers water pressure-it's amazing in every hotel- love it! read more

Numerous good stays. I travel to De Moines a lot for business and this is where I stay. Probably been here 100 nights by now. The recent remodel makes the place really nice, I always find it quiet and comfortable. The only downsides is there is not a free breakfast (like every Courtyard now), the exercise room is a little cramped and the parking isn't super convienient if you come in late and have to park in the back. WIth that said there are breakfast choices on-site and nearby and it's really easy to get onto I-80/I-35. read more

Staff was friendly. Parking was close by. Room was clean and easily accessible. We request a crib and got it right away. Check in and check on was smooth. No complaints about the actual hotel. Only catch is that it is a little away from downtown where everything was at, but it was way more affordable than anything downtown. I'd stay here again. read more

This has been the best place for my family of 5 to stay when traveling. The rooms are clean, the kids love the pool, and the beds are pretty comfy! I highly recommend Courtyard by Marriott to any family who is tired during travel and needs somewhere to let the kids unwind! read more

This is the first Yelp review I've ever written. Theresa the night clerk at the Courtyard Inn was an angel on earth. We are touring musicians and when we arrived to the hotel after midnight on a cold Iowa night we found her not only running the front counter alone but the bar as well. Theresa was charming, graceful and a lot of fun. We asked if the kitchen was closed she said yes but still managed to whip up enough grilled cheese, tomato soup and salad to feed all 8 of us! And then brownies! Did I mention she did all this while still checking in travelers and serving drinks! She was very sweet and we were all in awe of her energy and enthusiasm for looking after others. She really was a gift to humanity. The rooms were clean, food was great as well but really her service was closer to being invited into a someone's home than it was visiting a hotel. She deserves more than 5 stars but that's all we're allowed to give her in this review! The next morning we woke up with a friendly note and her suggestions for a playlist. She seems to have good taste in music as well! read more

We had a great stay here. We stayed one night for my bachelorette party and I was very impressed. From the outside, the hotel doesn't look like anything to blink at, just a cheap stay, but inside I was very surprised by how nice it is! The lobby is very updated and includes a bar and cafe with some food items for purchase (there is no continental breakfast, but a variety of items for purchase). The rooms were also very updated. The photos show on this listing are out of date. We didn't use the pool, but they brought us a fridge without charge when we called to the front desk. The staff was very friendly and quick. They also were able to call us a taxi which arrived quickly. We used the pullout sofa and it was comfortable and had sheets to use. There was also plenty of room to actually pull it out and then maneuver around the room. Would definitely stay again and was a perfect hotel when going to the West Glen/Jordan Creek area. read more
