I came here on a whim for a new hairstyle and an older woman was my stylist. I showed her a few reference pictures for a shag hairstyle with lots of layers and V shape. She checked in with me before she cut different areas of my hair and confirm the length I wanted; As much as I appreciate her work and effort, I would recommend to go to her for a simple one length trim. Monica was able to get the color the suits my skin color. The color turned out beautiful. I had a lot of grey hair sprouting on top of my head and she was able to blend. super upset, but luckily i'm not too sensitive of my hair bc it grows back. would of been 1 star but they're very nice. saw on yelp that they close at 8pm on fridays but the door says 7pm. i arrived around 6:15pm, and was helped out by 6:30pm. the lady was super nice, asked me on my opinions but i'm also too shy to speak up on some parts. you can see the smoke also while they blow dry your hair bc it's so close, and my hair has been smelling burnt for the past 2 days. attached is what i had: long thick hair, a lot of playground to work with vs. what i wanted (also only asked for an inch off only vs. what i got after i showered. i paid $55 and given a $10 tip, so $65 total. read more

I texted her, super lovely talked to her about what I would like done & hair history she was able to fit me in her schedule next day. I came in we spoke about what I'd like we sort of jumped ideas off each other to get my hair exactly how I wanted, she was a very big help in my hair journey! she took her time with me & was over all super sweet very gentle very good about checking in because it was a long process I have thick hair went back recently to get a hair cut haven't cut my hair in year I asked for some advice what would look good. I am a bit conflicted as I've been going here for years for hair cuts, styling and color. There have been times where my hair comes out amazing (with Berta and Monica) and other times where the junior stylists have screwed up and have led to a waste of my time and having to come back to get it fixed. They do their best but it's not the most efficient/organized or professional salon. They also often exclusively converse in Spanish amongst themselves the entire time which can be alienating to non Spanish clientele. They can be very slow getting the work done, often wasting time chatting. They have good intentions but professionalism is lacking. read more

My review is strictly for Angie who does threading. I used to come here for haircuts a few years ago but Karina no longer works here. Elegant Style Salon is located in the TJ Maxx shopping plaza on Clayton Road. The clientele is mainly Latina but they serve everyone. If you are interested in a haircut, I recommend Bertha, the owner. Back to threading. Angie is so sweet. Plus I prefer threading over waxing because to me, it lasts longer. Got my eyebrows, lip, and sideburns cleaned up in minutes. Angie listens and is very gentle. Highly skilled stylists! I have very short hair and have been looking for a new stylist for the last 10-12 years. I found her!!! Berta did an amazing job on my hair and has talent to spare. I was looking for a place closer to home and decided to try this salon based on the reviews. I called ahead to verify pricing was accurate to what was posted on their website ($30/woman's haircut). I am fine with paying the price that is advertised for what I have asked for, but not when there are hidden fees. I have never experienced this at any of the previous salons I've frequented in the Bay Area. My hairstylist only used a water spray bottle to wet my hair. I wasn't expecting this, but was fine with it as she was very nice and talked to me about my preferences as she was cutting my hair. When she finished, my hair was still very wet and she asked if I would like her to blow dry my hair. She never mentioned there was an extra fee for the blow dry. No where on their list of services noted that it would be an extra $10. I would have been totally fine if they were upfront with their charges. When I walked in and asked how much a haircut was, the front desk assistant verified the service I wanted. When I checked out after my haircut, they told me the charge was $40 because she blow dried my hair. She didn't style my hair or use any hair products. The front desk assistant verified with the hairstylist that it was okay to not charge for the blow dry, which she agreed to waive. When I gave my payment to the assistant, she made no effort to give me any change. I did end up tipping the stylist based on the $40 rate, but thought it was strange. Overall, my hairstylist was nice, but I won't be back. The salon should be more transparent with their pricing. read more

I've been coming to get my hair done here on and off for 18 years. I recently went for a cut and brought my friend. My friend was in need of color correction and Keratin conditioning treatment. Note they have more than one Keratin treatment 1 to straighten and two different conditioning treatments. My friend was skeptical given her prior hair dresser horror stories to say the least she was concerned her hair wouldn't come out how she wanted. Now Berta who is also the owner did the hair color and conditioning but another stylist washed my friend's hair. The day of everyone was raving about her hair; however, as we all know, the true test is once you get home wash and try to style it yourself. My friend called me the next day saying how much she loves her and can't believe how Berta nailed her hair color. Her only complaint was the stylist who washed her hair didn't know how to handle super curly hair and had committed several errors in drying her hair with the towel causing frizz. Frizz was fixed with product. My friend told me she had called Berta the next day to tell her she gained a new client and would be seeing her again. Now I would have discounted rating for stylist botching how to dry my friend's hair BUT I love my new cut/hair style Berta did for me, so I'm sticking to 5 stars. read more

Karina and Sarah were both wonderful with hair. They both did my 88 year old mother's hair many times and were very attentive and gentle. The problem is the place, management, whoever is in charge. The place is not very clean; there is no heat in the winter, no ac in the summer; thank God my mother's appts. were in the early morning. One time there was not even hot water to wash patrons hair. Not a very good way to run a business. I'm sure the Health Dept. and probably State Licensing Board would be interested. Oh and both Sarah and Karina are no longer there, interesting!!! I walked in and asked if they can take walk ins. There were two other customers there who were getting their hair colored and they said they could take me. So I sat down and showed the lady a picture what kind of haircut I wanted and she cut my hair. Not even 15 minutes later she's done and I wasn't really happy with the results. She cut my hair wrong. Instead of a bob type haircut, where its longer at the front of your face, its shorter. I didnt really realize it because their salon was not well lit. It wasnt until I went to TJ Maxx which was next door when I noticed it. Plus its not really even, and you can notice it. No matter how I part my hair its not even. I just wished they turned me down if they couldnt really pay attention to how they cut my hair. Worst place ever!!!! I am still growing out my hair from a cut I got a year ago from Suda (sp)!! I asked for my bangs to be blended and she basically gave me a mullet!!! And a real crappy one at that!! Then my 84 year old mother went there (against my advice) to get a soft perm and as they were rinsing her hair they got her soaking wet (in the middle of winter) and when she left to go get dry clothes on, they hadn't done anything with her hair!! No cut, no drying, nothing and to make things worse the perm didn't take!! YET they charged her full price!! They said she could come back for a cut but that would be an additional cost!!! My Mom is handicapped and 84 and they took full advantage of her!!! SHAME ON THEM!!!!! read more
