I showed her online where it said the gel manicure was only $28 and she pulled out a menu (which I was not given) to show me that the $28 was simply just to put color on and because she plucked the dead skin off around my nails it was an additional $15. There was zero communication about what was included or the actual price. The polish is a mess around the edges. She was working on two other clients at the same time as me as well. While trying to prove her point with the menu she even had to ask other workers where on the menu it said my service total was (it wasn't on there). She then finished by telling me that they will talk to their manager to have the menu updated for next time but that that was still the cost. I will not be back. I don't recommend you go.

I was pointed to a chair to wait for the next available tech--it was a bit of a wait, but I didn't mind. I picked out my color and had no issues with the pedicure portion. For the manicure, I showed them a reference photo, and they said it would be $90--for short square acrylics with some texture, which felt too expensive. I decided to switch to a simple gel mani instead. They ended up just filing my nails and applying gel--no cuticle care at all. As a barista, my hands go through a lot, so I really needed the full clean-up. When I brought it up, they told me that would've been $35 instead of $25, but no one explained the difference or gave me the option beforehand. Overall, the communication was poor, and they made assumptions without asking or clarifying. I left feeling rushed, disappointed, and like my needs weren't really considered.

I have been to Mai on several occasions, first out of convenience, but then I realized she does…read moregreat work. The first time I went to her, I was with a friend, and both of us were extremely pleased. My friend would have continued to see Mai but she is in boot camp. Since October 2014, I have seen her at least 5 times for a Shellac Manicure. She uses the brand Gelish on me but has other brands of shellac polish in addition to regular polish. The Gelish polish stays on my nails for at least 4 weeks. Even though her shop fits 4 people at most, it is just her and her mom (Katie) who are there. By having only two workers at a time, it reduces echoes of other customers and the employees are able to focus on their current customer. She offers affordable prices on manicures (price varies) and pedicures ($25) and everything used is sanitized. The past few times I had Mai paint different designs & polish on each nail, her price for designs are an addition $3. Her skills and creativity always show when it comes to painting nails and I am always proud to show them off to who ever will see. PROS - plenty of parking - clean, quiet & intimate - speak English very well - creative nail/design ideas - affordable, patient - variety of polish including gel polish - easy to get a hold of for appointments CONS - small salon - by appointment only - she and Katie are very busy!
