After the installation, I noticed that part of the film's edge on the larger panel was uneven. He told me this was unavoidable because the panel was longer than his cutting equipment could accommodate. He then used a ruler to trim another strip off the edge, but it was still uneven. He said that no one would get close enough to examine the film's edges and that, as long as it looked straight from a distance, it was fine. That comment made me uncomfortable. I paid him $400 expecting professional service. This is my home, and whether I look at something up close or from a distance is my choice. His responsibility is to deliver professional workmanship, rather than tell me how I should view something in my own home when I raise a concern about the quality of his work. He said there was nothing more he could do that day and left. Afterward, I discovered a large puddle of water on the floor beneath the glass. He had finished the job without properly cleaning up. After he left, I carefully inspected the installation--even though he had told me that no one would examine a glass panel closely. I found that the cuts around the glass mounting brackets were quite imprecise, and there were numerous bubbles. (But he did mention that any bubbles would disappear completely within a few weeks.)

I originally received an estimate from Dave and he arrived as scheduled and quoted accordingly. I spent a few weeks mulling it over and even though he took the time to come out and quote, he never once pressured me to proceed with the order. For reference, security film on 4 windows and a privacy screen on a floor 2 window was quoted at $4k. After a few weeks, I ended up requesting just get the one privacy screen installed ($600) and I was pleasantly surprised they were willing to accommodate such a small job. Originally, I thought that it would be a decorated frosted covering, but it's actually a fully opaque privacy film with no frills. I'm no longer able to see any movement outside of that window and it reduced sunlight entering our house by about 50%. This ended up being perfect for us since the entire reason I wanted to get this covered was because our dog would bark at this every single night when he saw movement or lights from outside. It's been 4 years of this and I wish I got this done sooner! The installer (I believe his name is Hugo) called letting me know he'd be late which I appreciated the notice. He was so friendly and did is awesome job. The sizing and alignment was perfect which I'm happy about. I did a similar window I was able to reach myself and it looked terrible. This is to say that in early 2005, this company installed film on 32 panes of windows in our home. 10 years later, we still can't find a single problem with any pane of glass. No bubbles, no pealing, no cracking, and no broken window seals. Nice job guys. I think the success or failure of window film comes down to the experience of the installer and the quality of the film. Obviously we got both right.
