    Volt Guru Electronics Repair

    (1 review)

I spoke with Mike (owner of Volt Guru) on 11/25/13 about my tv. I did some research and found the…read morereason my TV wasnt powering on was due to a bad power supply board which was a known problem for LG plasmas. I told him about this and he advised that the power supply board was not the problem and that it was just a bad cap and fuse. I trusted that he knew what he was talking about because he kept telling me he has 20+ yrs experience. Mike said he could fix it same day. He sounded knowledgeable and had cheap prices so I dropped it off and upon opening the tv he stated that he did not have the correct parts to fix it and it would be a few days to order. He requested the full amount ($120) in order to fix the TV. I called back often to check the status. 1 week later the parts come in and he advises that did not fix the problem and he would need to purchase another additional part. Another week goes by and the part he ordered comes in but still does not fix the problem. Finally on 12/13/13 he states that he cannot fix the problem due to the problem being the POWER SUPPLY BOARD which I told him was the problem the day I walked through the door. He said he could not find a replacement power supply online (although I did) and said I could come pick up the TV and the money. He said it would take til monday to get the money. I gave him the weekend and called back monday 12/16/13 in which he stated he could meet me half way (as I live about 45 minutes from his shop) and would call me back to confirm. He never called back. Tuesday I called and text him several times with no answer. Wednesday I finally got him on the phone. I told him I was coming into the shop to pick up and he replied that he had just had an accident but would be able to meet until around 6pm. I called at 6pm and he stated he couldnt meet because his significant other had a job interview (at 6pm) and that he wouldnt be able to meet. I finally got him on the phone again at 10am 12/20/13. I told him I was on the way to pick up (again). He said he would be there. I show up and he proceeds to give me the wrong TV. I told him it wasnt mine and he grabbed the right one as he was stating that he would give me half my money back. I asked for the cash and he said he didnt have and that I would have to get it later. I asked why he didnt already have it knowing that I was on my way. His answer was "we're on the eastside and we dont carry cash here". I told him I would wait for him to grab the cash and he said "He doesnt know when that will be". At this point (nearly a month later) it was very clear that he had no plans to refund the work he did not complete. I told him I want the money back or he would get a negative review. He told me he was filming our interaction and that he wants me to leave the review because I "have a way of talking to people" and I wasnt going "to get any of my money back." I then looked at the other customer in the store and asked if he could believe what was going on. Mike then told me to file a a claim with the court if I wanted my money back before telling me to get out of his shop. To sum it up, I got nothing but excuses from this guy for a month, he gave me back a broken TV and refused to refund my money. If you give this guy your money be prepared for a headache.
