I took my Rotel preamp in for repair of failure of electronic controls and remote functions due to a static electric shock. I clearly stated that fixing the remote control function was the whole point of repairing unit or I would buy another preamp. He stated it would be an easy fix for $150.00 after examining unit. I accepted and asked if I should bring in the remote control for the unit? He clearly stated "No, it will not be needed as the damaged part he will replace will definitely restore all functions including the remote". A week later it was done at which point he gleefully accepted the $150.00, lo and behold the preamp worked, but the remote did not! I called and he said "No he will not make good for it, and I should be thankful that it works and it will be extra charge to fix it", then actually says to me,"You should have brought in the remote" and was quite snippy about my dissatisfaction. Yeah, right, I'm going to spend more $$$ to him when he couldn't fix it right in the first place! I am now out $150.00 with a preamp that is completely useless to me and will probably end up in the garbage. This man has proven to me what his words and ethics are worth, and it's anybody's guess what your experience will be. read more
