I went over , filled out paper work and then she gave me info on how electrolysis works. Which is a plus. But she forgot to mention she's cash or check only. (If you charge such high rates you should take credit) that's a big negative it's very inconvenient for a business in this day and age. Also she is pretty slow compared to another place I just went too. She told me she needed 15 more mins to cover the areas (chin / jaw bone area) and then the worst part .... The post treatment was nothing but witch hazel! Let me tell you from experience & knowledge that after getting laser or electrolysis one needs to have appropriate after care. She has no ice (to close pores) and no aloe Vera (to calm the skin) she just let's you walk out and what happens I get like tiny tiny white (puss filled) pimples in ever pore she took a hair out of. It was awful omg I was popping them all week. It's not right, to open the pores & not close them back up esp in nyc's pollution. I would say if you're close and have open money to spend it's fine if you're on a budget there are MUCH better places that are also cheaper. Dropped her and on to the next one :)

My last electrologist (in Queens) came highly recommended, but after 18 months I was seeing a lot of regrowth without the hair reduction that I was hoping for. On the recommendation of a friend, I visited Kathy at KB Electrolysis. Since starting with Kathy, most of the treated hairs have been eliminated. She is very personable and has great insertions with her machine. Even though Kathy uses the same machine as my previous electrologist, I now experience significantly less regrowth and no scabbing between appointments. Being a grad student, I initially hesitated to visit Kathy because her prices were more than what I was used to. However, I'm seeing significantly less hair than ever before. I honestly wish I had switched to this place sooner because Kathy's treatments work better and are therefore so much more cost effective in the long run. It pains me to think about how much money I wasted before coming here.

I called to explain and apologize, and asked if the no-show fee could be waived or the session rescheduled, given that I'd never once been late or missed an appointment in years of coming here. Both requests were declined, and I paid the fee. I understand policies exist for a reason, but I was disappointed that years of reliability didn't factor into the conversation at all. If anything, it felt like the opposite, like being a long-time client counted for less rather than more, and that keeping my business going forward wasn't a priority. Good, reasonable customer service is very important to me, more than the fee itself, and it's a real part of why I'm now looking for a new provider.

It's overwhelming to find one since there is no shortage in Manhattan, but Diane came highly recommended. She uses disposable gold needles on a good machine (Apilus Senior device) and is very honest - she won't try to upsell you and provides services in 15 minute increments, so you just pay for what you need - and she'll let you know how much time it will take. The plus side is she is genuinely caring and makes you comfortable with what could be a painful and awkward procedure. And she has little chocs available for after your treatment - I'm a sucker for positive reinforcement :) Cash only!

A true gem of a find in NYC!…read more I've tried tirelessly to find a clean and safe way to permanently remove my unwanted hair, to no avail. This city is funny like that. I thought "a NYC salon...they must know what they're doing..." But most don't! After going to about a dozen different places, and spending too much money, I bought a Groupon from Amy on a whim, and WOW! I'm so happy I found her, FINALLY! First, lets talk about her skills; she's fast, she's smooth, and she's efficient. She talked me through the process on my first session, gave me tips on ways to get the best results and ways to manage any discomfort the process might bring (which by the way, with Amy, there's barely any discomfort). She answered all of my questions and made me feel comfortable. She has the top of the line equipment, and I can tell you that after going to her for several sessions...I see major results! I went in wanting to do one part of my body, but I might do more after this great experience. Then there's the unique advantage she has over these other places...she's a true mom and pop shop and the care and passion she puts into each and everyone of her clients is priceless. I see her client interaction when I arrive and her last client is leaving, and when I'm leaving and the next person is arriving. She bends over backwards to fit people in her schedule, opening up weekends, evening hours, etc, just to accommodate people. I can go on and on about how special this is, but I'm not trying to write a novel here. Basically, when you go to Amy, you're not just a number. That is so rare in this city. I read a few of her reviews before going to her, and I have to quickly comment on them to anyone inquiring about this business. Amy is passionate, hardworking, talented, and amazing. The negative reviews I believe to be just one half of the story, so keep that in mind. This place is worth every penny if you truly want the best electrologist in the city!

She insisted all my dark hyperpigmentation from years of plucking will naturally & quickly disappear with her treatments- this is simply is impossible without fade cream or peels. She tells you what she thinks you want to hear about the treatment so that you will stick with her. But do thorough research. My new electrologist (and aesthetician of color) had to save my skin from Amy's improper yanking which broke so many hairs halfway underneath the skin that caused so many ingrown bumps that stayed for weeks! When I told Amy, she said this was normal. Of course it is not. What's worse, some technicians think just because your hair is coarse you have to up the probe's intensity so ridiculously high. I have a high pain tolerance but her treatments were so painful. Electrolysis should not that unbearably painful. Amy doesn't seem to be very inexperienced, especially for people with dark skintones and/or thicker hair. Please beware!

It is evident that the NY Electrolysis Office is very busy and in high demand (good thing), but it was quite frustrating to get an appointment. My initial appointment took me over 3 months to book, but Yuki was really nice and told me to call and email her first thing on the specified date at 9am and she would try to fit me in. I stayed by the phone on that very day I really like Yuki as a person because she is very kind & friendly. Definitely very understanding and professional as well. She provides you with an in-depth consultation, basically giving you Electrology 101 in 15-30 minutes. Then she gets to work, two-handedly zapping & pulling the hair out of each follicle. My first appointment was a success (albeit difficult to book), but because of the constant confusion back & forth with scheduling my second appointment, I opted to choose another electrolysis technician instead.

Of course I was drawn in by the 5 star review, and the comments that indicated how much experience she had. I called immediately- it was a Saturday night. She stayed on the phone with me and patiently explained the process, asked questions and calmed my fears. I made an appointment immediately. What I have learned in the past three months is that not only is Julie Ann remarkably good at what she does-- it is a painstaking process and she is patient and diligent-- but she is also quite charming and a really lovely person. She has a million great stories she'll tell you while she works on you, and she will remember every detail you tell her- from your boyfriend's astrological sign to your mother's birthday. She's kind and compassionate and a real gem. Her workspace, while small, is filled with diplomas and certifications to ease your mind. She's been at this a long time, and she has stayed educated in her field. She offers the latest treatments, including laser. She's remarkably knowledgable about it all. For example, before finding Julie Ann I almost went to an expensive spa for laser treatment. What I learned through our extensive talks is that laser can actually make facial hair worse on women. It's great for arms and legs, though. Her prices are beyond fair- I've been quoted a lot more and she will not stiff you for time, though she's always got a customer after you because she is well known and so good. She does a lot and she will work on you as long as it takes. I always feel like I should be giving her MORE money- and trust me, I am broke and don't think that often. But you have a need- hair removal- so beyond all the other "pluses" of going to Julie Ann you can rest assured that she's the absolute best there is. Definitely call, you found your solution.
