DO NOT GO HERE!!! Unsanitary and infection prone! As soon as you walk in you can see how unsanitary the space is. There was garbage all over the floor and the kitchen that was connected to the room had dirty food and pans everywhere. I was extremely skeptical, but due to the price was open to trying out the treatment. It has been two weeks since my treatment and my face is completely infected under my skin. I have even had to go on antibiotics! I have been getting electrolysis treatments for two years and have never experienced this before. I can only assume this infection under my skin was caused due to improperly sterilized equipment. Women doing treatment was very nice, but not worth infecting your face for!!! I've been satisfied with the hair removal results I've been getting with Shelly. I tried laser removal before, but it's not truly permanent hair removal like electrolysis is. Because Shelly is a smaller-scale operation, she can keep the cost of treatments down while still providing quality hair removal. I would say that if you are interested in getting rid of body hair and you are not rich enough to pay the ridiculous prices that some of these big operations charge, then you should give Shelly a try. I have been seeing Shelly for almost a year now, and I have seen clear results of permanent hair removal in that time without any scarring, dimpling of the skin, etc. I am not new to electrolysis, and I can tell that I'm getting the best work possible done for the rates that she charges. A quaint in-home business. Shelly is hospitable and I feel comfortable walking past her "home-life" to the designated "work-area." She told me exactly what to expect as far as skin reactions. The area (my upper lip) was a little inflamed for a while (less than an hour), then the area remained a little red (looks like a sunburn) but wasn't inflamed anymore. few teensy-tiny scabs formed that fell off a day or two after they formed (look like tiny freckles) It's not super comfortable because you can feel each nerve react. (Same feeling if you tweeze one hair) but--It's not crazy painful by any means. It's more like my eyes watered a bit because the nerve is sensitive, not because it was painful. Be Wary those who indulge in make up everyday--you can't for about a week. No lotions, moisturizers, or make up. Happy Hair Removal, everyone! read more

I am actually late at writing review.I got my Electrolysis sessions back in 2012 when i was in New York .I used to stop by after work.Its really near Subway as well with some steps. Shelly had a magic wand in her hands. One day i had 2-3 areas to get my electrolysis and she worked fast and completed the 2-3 areas in that specified time. Price wise also very affordable. Her treatment was very good. FIRST HALF HOUR ON MY VERY FIRST VISIT WAS FREE OF COST. What i remember is that she had certification from Berkowits as well from Europe. I think i had taken 5-6 sessions from her and then i had to move to California. So 2-3 days before leaving i took my last session. She is very cheerfull. I remember once i had to wait just for 5 minutes because i came early so she offered to go upstairs and checkout her terrace.It was beautiful view of Newyork Skyline in the evening. Lights in the Sky . it was amazing. Don't miss out that too.She had mentioned on my 2nd last or 3rd last session to see her terrace.Had i not visited the 2nd last time. I worked first with Shelly Mayron, then Traci Pons--who works in this space on Sundays. This business is located in Shelly's tiny one-room apartment, where she often entertained friends over drinks, or lounged around watching television, all of which I heard loud and clear on the other side of a flimsy partition, where I was receiving treatment from Traci. This is a claustrophobic and unprofessional environment (something Traci actually admitted to me on several occasions). The bathroom is dirty (with no towel provided). Shelly doesn't provide receipts, and made me feel awkward when I asked for one. The work was slow and more painful than it needed to be (compared to treatment I've had before and since) and I question its effectiveness. Traci had a habit of plucking hairs she hadn't first "zapped"; I don't know if this was an attempt to make it seem like she was making more progress than she was, but I do know that, when it's your beard, plucking hairs raw is far more painful than electrolysis. I found the conversation style, of both Shelly's and Traci's, to be aggressive and unprofessional. Traci in particular habitually brings up dark and disturbing subjects, such as satanism, her occult belief system, and child sexual abuse, and I frequently requested she change the subject, sometimes several times in a session. The two frequently spoke of other clients in personal and disparaging ways, ridiculing their character and their bodies in a total breach of professional confidentiality, causing me to wonder what was being said about me when I wasn't there. I regret going for treatment here for as long as I did, and I confess to being lured by the inexpensive rate. (I am a trans person, and trans people often put up with more danger and indignity than they should, because of financial pressure, among other things.) read more

i've worked with five different electrologists in three different states, including electrology 3000 in dallas (the gold standard) & shelly is one of the best & most knowledgeable of the bunch. the price is extremely competitive for new york city. as a trans woman, i've always felt accepted by & comfortable with her. the treatments hurt--all electrolysis hurts--but less than some other local practitioners (who will go unnamed here). if you have your pre-electrolysis rituals--special meds you take, foods you eat, music you like to listen to, if you need to dye your hair to make it more visible, if you apply lidocaine, etc.--shelly is extremely accommodating & will let you arrive early & use her office--which is her home!--to do whatever you need to do to prepare yourself. read more

As a woman dealing with facial hair this has been a difficult problem to deal with. When I met Shelly and Traci, I was at my lowest point in dealing with this situation. They welcomed me from the start with bright smiles and an openness that I found comforting. And when I questioned how long it would take before I would see results, they provided me with much reassurance each and every week that things would get better with time. I needed to hear this and they were gracious to comfort me with humor or silly anecdotes. A year and half later, the facial hair is almost non-existent.
