Amy is incredibly talented, professional, kind, and consistently does an amazing job. Finding someone you trust with your nails isn't easy, so I was excited to become a regular client. If this review were based on Amy alone, it would be five stars.
Unfortunately, my experiences with the owner have been very different, and today's interaction was the last straw.
I've only been coming for a few months, but I get my nails done every week and a half along with regular pedicures. I've also referred at least four new clients. I've brought friends with me, and they've continued coming back on their own because they loved Amy's work. I was genuinely happy to support this business.
To be honest, this wasn't the first uncomfortable interaction I've had with the owner. Every time I've called to make an appointment and she answered the phone, the conversations felt awkward, unwelcoming, and unprofessional. I always brushed it off because I loved Amy's work and didn't want one person's demeanor to keep me from seeing such a wonderful nail technician. Looking back, those interactions should have been a warning.
Today I had a 2:00 p.m. appointment. As I was leaving my house, my street was unexpectedly being paved and I literally could not get my car out of my driveway. I called immediately to explain what had happened.
Instead of showing any understanding, the owner immediately became argumentative and accused me of "doing this all the time," which is simply false. I have never missed an appointment and have never been late. I explained that she must have mistaken me for someone else because that has never happened.
What upset me most wasn't just what was said. It was how I was treated. The owner spoke to me in a completely degrading and demeaning manner, as if I were a child being scolded. She repeatedly said my name, "Tina, Tina, Tina," over and over in a condescending tone while talking down to me. It was humiliating, disrespectful, and unlike anything I've ever experienced as a customer.
I politely asked if I could speak with Amy because I knew she would confirm that I have always been a reliable client. The owner refused to let me speak with her, called me names, hung up on me, and then refused to answer when I called back.
To make matters worse, she told me I was no longer allowed to make appointments. Instead, she said I would have to call every day to see if there happened to be an opening and that maybe, if she decided there was availability, I could come in. I was essentially told I could no longer schedule appointments like every other client despite never having missed or been late for one.
After supporting this business, referring new customers, and keeping regular appointments, I never expected to be treated this way over a situation that was completely beyond my control.
Amy deserves every bit of praise for her talent and professionalism. She is the reason I kept coming back. Unfortunately, the owner's repeated unprofessional behavior overshadowed everything else. Being spoken to in such a degrading manner, denied the opportunity to speak with my nail technician, and then effectively told I was no longer welcome to make appointments was incredibly disappointing. No customer should ever be treated this way.
