I'm very sensitive to certain side effects of certain cannabinoids, so I'm constantly searching for the perfect formulations for me. Found one that looked great here, so I placed an order for pickup the following day. The website uses Dutchie for pre-pay/to connect to your bank, which I've used before at another dispensary, as well as having used similar platforms at several dispensaries many times at this point. This process was no different than any I've used before. I selected pay now and connected to my bank. Got a confirmation email from Dutchie with the amount and a "Your order's ready for pickup" email from EC. When I got there to pick up, they said the order hasn't gone through or something.... amounting to that I had to pay them then. Which, if it was clear that this was the case, fine. However, when I expressed confusion over this as I'd used the online "pay now" system as I've done many times. The girl at the register had initially asked the floor manager about it and he'd said I needed to show them the payment processing in my bank account or "the email." I looked at my bank account and told the girl there was no payment order, but this didn't mean anything - that can someones take 2-3 days. I showed her the confirmation email from Dutchie with the order amount. She wasn't satisfied and said if the payment wasn't in my bank display it hadn't gone through. I said this is what the guy had said to show them, I wasn't sure what else she wanted to see, and repeated that charges don't always show up on my bank statement within a day, even as pending. And I meant just what I said, and I don't think I was rude, nor was I trying to be difficult. I was genuinely confused because as far as I could tell, I'd literally done what the guy had asked. She went to get the floor manager who took his sweet time chatting with two other customers on his way back to the register, where other employees and customers were now milling about trying to work around me. I then had basically the same conversation AGAIN about the bank and showed him the email. But no, not that email, he said, I would have gotten one from EC. I had, and showed him that one too. No, not that email, he said. You have to scan the QR code. As if I should know wtf that meant, as there was no QR code in either email. He brings one up on the card reader. Scan that to pay, he basically says. So I'm trying to understand what happened and what I did on the website if not pay, when I connected to Dutchie and my bank account and got a confirmation email from Dutchie with the amount. And the guy just keeps contradicting himself. Very sus. So before I finalized payment I asked what happens if both charges come through tomorrow. He doesn't say they won't because I hadn't put a charge through the day before, as he's been trying to claim. He doesn't say they'll regund me, no problem. No. He says, *****"Well I don't like to live my life in what ifs."***** Good for you, chief. You know what? I've worked in customer service. I don't believe that the customer is always right. I DO believe that treating people with a modicum of common decency and respect is fundamental. Snarking at and trying to make a customer feel stupid because either YOU'RE to stupid to explain something in terms that make any sense whatsoever or you're scamming the customer, is NOT any kind of way to run a business. So I walked out. Because I'd rather they get $50 of my money for nothing than $100 for $50 worth of product, and I'm DEFINITELY not potentially giving them an extra $50 after receiving that kind of treatment. If anyone wants to know who this was, it was at about 2pm on a Thursday.
UPDATE: I got a call within a coupe hours of posting reviews from a woman named Alice. She offered a pretty half-a**ed apology and a discount. I do appreciate that they made some effort because not all companies would, and I believe/agree with her that no one's perfect and that this isn't the dum total of what their company is about. But it was my experience and people have a right to know about ut read more
