Elderberry's is a family-owned restaurant business at The Shoppes At Weat Village, a modern outdoor-mall located on 3555 Electric Rd. It has plenty of complementary parking and both an indoor and outdoor seating area. Specializing in fresh smoothies and wraps, as well as fruit and grain bowls, all with fresh and natural ingredients. The small restaurant also has a mini gift shop to buy cute items such as jewelry, chocolate, homemade sweets, sweatshirts, mugs, and other items. They offer to go service as well as delivery and catering. As I entered the restaurant I loved its colorful, informal, and relaxed interior design with beautiful hardwood floors. It creates an inviting and friendly atmosphere, which is reinforced by the warm welcoming of its employees and their wonderful customer service. A young lady behind the counter greeted and welcomed me to the place and took my order. The menu was above behind the counter in a size big enough to be able to read it from far away. To drink I ordered a Mad's Mango Berry Smoothie. To eat I ordered the Turkey Avocado Wrap. And for dessert I ordered an Authentic Dutch Stroopwafles that came with two marshmallows on top. After paying for my order, I sat at one of the tables next to the wall and waited for it to be ready to pick up. It did not take long for my order to be ready. As soon as it was, they called me and I went up to get it. The Smoothie was nice and cold with a mixture of Banana, Orange, Raspberries, and Mango. Very refreshing indeed, especially now that the hot weather is approaching. The Turkey and Avocado Wrap came nicely wrapped in a fresh tortilla, with all the ingredients very nice and fresh. And the dessert was very unique and sweet. I invite all reading my review to look at my photographs accompanying it to better get a feel for the food and the place. While I was eating my food, several customers came in for Take out orders, mostly of Smoothies because it was almost time to close. I figure they must have more business for breakfast and lunch, and even during snack time. I highly recommend this restaurant for when you want to eat something healthy and not too big and a Smoothie to cool you down. Stopped in for lunch one afternoon while in the area. Was looking for something good, and fresh this little eatery was both. Walk up counter service, with the menu boards overhead and daily specials. After a few minutes to scan it all I opted for a wrap with some soup of the day, a lobster bisque and for my wrap I went for the turkey bacon with a lemonade. I paid, grabbed my number and a seat on the bench along the wall. The inside was light and bright with a few table tops and a few chairs, along with all kinds of to go merch for the store. My food came to me within a few minutes, no more than ten. The bisque was good, didnt have any lobster bits in it that I could discern but the flavor was good. The wrap though small was tasty and full flavored, it was well made and fresh just wish it had been a bit more. Tried the new location today for their grand opening and was pleased with the service and the food. Prior to being called "Elderberry," this store was called Fruition's, and it was slightly closer to Roanoke College. Charming eclectic atmosphere, some operational issues. We were really excited to try the mac and cheese bowls but they were very disappointing. For $10 we each got a handful of spiral noodles in what felt like two cups of cheese sauce (seriously there was an inch left in the bowl after we were done). The "chicken tenders" we added on were clearly nuggets and only half of them actually edible, the rest were either pure breading or rock hard. Either prices should come down or quality should go up. I'd like to go back and try a smoothie though, people seem to like those. read more

Yuuuummmmm!!!!!!!! It's been a while since I've had Elderberry's since I've moved away. My boyfriend and I stopped in here on Saturday for a light afternoon meal after hiking McAfee's Knob in the morning. We didn't want anything really heavy because we had dinner plans a few hours later - but we were starving and needed something to hold us over for about 4 hours. The young gals working behind the counter were very friendly and sweet from the start. We mentioned we weren't sure what we wanted and they have a large selection of smoothies so she asked what was our favorite fruit and went from there about the ones she liked best and why and made some helpful suggestions. She cheerfully answered our questions about the green smoothies, "dessert" smoothies, wraps, and even cookies. There wasn't anyone else behind us so we probably took a good solid 10 minutes to decide. My boyfriend made his own smoothie and added a ton of things to it that I can't remember but it was delicious and he loved it. I chose the Peachy Pineapple - which is just what you'd think it is - banana, non-fat vanilla yogurt, peaches and pineapple. It was very peachy and light. It was sooo good. We both got the Skinny Salmon Wrap which was amazeballs good. We loved it. It had smoked salmon, avocado, onion, cucumber, lemon aioli, almonds, fresh dill, sprouts and spinach. Nom nom nom! My daughter and I have always loved Elderberry's wraps and smoothies. Until yesterday. We ordered a chicken Caesar wrap and a Turkey wrap, and a smoothie. The Caesar wrap was made with soggy, canned chicken pieces, still swimming in water, my turkey wrap was good. The smoothie was not even drinkable. Weird, slimy texture and reading of artificial banana. No yogurt, fresh berries, or bananas at all. Oddly over-sweet. My daughter paid almost $8.00 for something that went straight to the trash can. I don't know what has happened but this is definitely NOT what we expected of them. read more

Previously they were thick and smooth and bursting with flavor, and now they're runny and taste watered down. Not worth paying $7-8. My boyfriend and I stopped to Elderberry's during a road trip. We went out of our way to get here (my boyfriend happened to pick a spot far off highway 81 by mistake) for coffee and sandwiches to hold us over on the rest of our long drive. We arrived 1 hour before close. I asked for cream or half and half for my coffee, but was told there was neither, and no one in the shop offered me anything else. Normally my boyfriend takes his coffee black, but after we both sipped our coffees and they tasted so old and over-brewed he wanted to dilute it. Knowing many of Elderberry's smoothies on their menu contain coconut milk and my boyfriend cannot have dairy, soy or almond, I asked for a splash of coconut milk for our coffees and mentioned my boyfriend's allergy. The young man behind the counter asked his boss (I'm assuming the owner) if we could have some. She looked at me and told him no. I am sorry, but that is just bad service. This was my first time passing through Roanoke, and I left with a bad first impression. I am sure there are great spots to grab a bite in this town, but I seemed to have missed out. Placed on line order, when I arrived waited over an hour for two wraps no smoothie. Two other ladies were also there waiting among the walk up customers. I finally asked her to check on my order and it had been ready for who knows how long? She never apologized for the wait, or that my order had been sitting and the wraps were cold and hard by this point. She seemed bothered that I had asked in the first place. We love Elderberry's! It's delicious for lunch or dinner. We went in tonight and it was almost closing time. We weren't rushed at all. Service was as great as it always is. Elderberry's is a great place to get a smoothie, as they have quite a lot of combinations to choose from. Some smoothies are made with yogurt, and some aren't, so you can choose whether or not you're in the mood for something creamy or more frozen-limeade style. Nearly all of their smoothies use real fruit, not flavorings, except for a a few smoothies that are more dessert/milkshake flavors (think oreo, peanut butter, coffee). In addition to their smoothies, they have wraps with chicken, turkey, and other deli meats with different combinations, but I'm not as big a fan of these. While they taste alright, the wraps are all small for the price and skimpy on the protein/meat, so you're bound to get hungry again in an hour or so. Definitely come here for the smoothies, but not for a filling lunch. read more

A rude owner trains rude high school employees. The food here is pretty good, but the service is just flat out awful. The last 2 times we've been, they've gotten our order wrong. It must be hard to understand the words, "no onions." The employees have no social skills. They don't make eye contact. They don't apologize for messing up your order. The smoothies here are delicious, they're would've gotten a 5 star review from me except I think they are a tad pricey. I have been here twice already within 1 week and plan to go back again. Maybe I got the wrong smoothie-The Red White and Blue and I have to say for $5 it tasted like I was drinking water...no flavor at all, I was pretty disappointed. My husband got the Elderberry and his had much more flavor than mine, but still wasn't that impressive. The wraps are small and the they could use better lettuce than iceberg (which tasted like it has been sprayed with pesticides and chemicals). It's a really cute shop, but overall, not impressed with the quality of the ingredients. I'd suggest making your smoothies more tasty and using a better lettuce in your wraps. Also, offer different types of wraps other than plain. Can't say I'd go back again unless they made some changes. read more
