Today I visited Elbert's for the first time and I felt like entering a secret society. This tiny and classy restaurant is totally hidden in the heart of Central Business District. There's no neon lights, no façade, nothing. To find it, you have to enter Sagittarius Building, at the busy Dela Costa Street, and go up the stairs. There, on the 3rd floor, you'll see a door. Here you are, finally at Elbert's, a great place to have a juicy steak.
The restaurant specializes in USDA certified premium meats. That means steak lovers will have a great time here. At this moment, while I write a draft of my review on my Moleskine, I'm waiting anxiously for my Tenderloin Steak Café de Paris (Australian Wagyu medallions, with sides of your choice - I had steamed vegetables). During lunch time, all dishes are served with a soup or salad + main course + dessert + coffee or tea.
As all secret societies, Elbert's keeps a certain mysterious atmosphere. I must confess the place is a little bit dark for me during the day - I love windows, sunlight and fresh air. It's vibe seems to me to fits better at dinner time. I'll certainly come back at night, because the steak I had was very tasty.
The only con is that it's quite expensive. Although the meat was juicy and tender, I still prefer La Cabrera to have this "steak lover moment".
Oh, and don't forget: reservation is highly recommended. Husband and didn't call in advance, so we had to wait a little bit to have a table. read more
