If you're from Makati or you frequent at the Greenbelt complex, I'm sure you have seen or passed by Carmelo's Wagyu Steaks. I noticed while scanning the menu that the steakhouse is part of the Melo's family of restaurants (Melo's, House of Wagyu, and Stone Grill). This family is known in the Philippines to deliver when it comes to quality steak. They have the usual cut selection for an upper-end steakhouse: porterhouse, T-Bone, sirloin, tenderloin, and my favorite rib eye. I shared a grade 8 Wagyu rib eye with my significant other. The food arrived and everything was alright. This included the Oyster Rockefeller and the Caesar salad. Yes, the Wagyu was very tender and melted is our mouths as expected, but for the prices and the Melo's group reputation however, we expected more than "alright" when it came to taste. Something was simply missing, hence holding me back from saying "wow." Overall, it was still a good experience (Wagyu always is), but I was simply hoping for better value considering the prices. read more
