This Ecuadorian restaurant was SO good. We started our meal with yuca bread, which reminded me of Brazilian pão de queijo, but honestly, I think I liked these even more. They were served with guava sauce on the side for dipping, and it felt like it unlocked a new level of deliciousness in my brain--absolutely amazing! For my main, I had shrimp in a saffron coconut sauce (Encocado de camaron), served with rice, avocado, and tostones. I've had good Ecuadorian cuisine in New York and New Jersey, but El Nano surpassed my expectations. I wish there was a location closer to me! My partner ordered a mixed plate that included yuca, fried eggs, avocado, sausage, pork, and plantains. The portion was massive, and he loved every bite. We opted for gin and tonics for our drinks, but we noticed several tables ordering more elaborate (but sweeter-looking) drinks. Service was great, everyone was friendly and the servers were patient with my attempts to speak Spanish. The restaurant can get quite busy, so I definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. read more
