Enchilada Supreme.

Had the Enchilada supreme, was delicious! Free chips and good salsa, ordered a side of guacamole. It was probably the best guacamole I have ever had in a restaurant! $38.00 for 2 people. Not a bad deal. They don't serve alcohol. Service was ok. Nothing special.

This was a very interesting dining experience to say the least. My wife and I ate here on a Saturday evening and both enjoyed our food although I don't really remember what all we ate. I just remember everything tasted good. I remember getting watermelon tea to drink and it was so good I wished I had gotten more refills than I did. I lived quite a bit of my life in the border states of the southwest with approximately ten years in Texas, four years in Arizona, and four months in California. This place could easily hold its own in any of those states and I told them so. In fact, I told them of a bit of a "missed opportunity" that could have made them even better and more authentic. The Sonoran-style Mexican restaurants of southern Arizona (and the two I ate at in Nogales, Mexico) actually used queso mennonita--Mennonite cheese--in their recipes and so it seemed very fitting that this restaurant in Shipshewanna with so many Amish and Mennonite employees and customers should also use queso mennonita in their recipes, but alas they'd never thought of it. The only negative experience we had was having to stand in line for a long time with some very obnoxious customers who were also waiting to be seated. Since the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol they were all acting like they'd already gotten half drunk before they got there. Their language was inappropriate for public behavior in a family restaurant setting and they were rude and insulting to my wife and me when all we were doing was trying to ignore them.

Enchiladas supreme, very good! Red sauce is spot on

Great authentic food, the service and speed of service was great. I would recommend stopping by if you are passing by or going to the flea market. I plan on going back soon.

I have to start by saying, do NOT let the outside appearance cause you to turn around. The food is amazing! And the staff are very nice, helpful. Our food came out hot and large portions with an abundance of chicken, steak and so many shrimp!! All for a reasonable price! This may be Amish county but I will choose to come back here vs one of the Amish buffets

Wow! What a hidden treasure! Muy autentico!! Great atmosphere and the food is amazing! I had veggie fajitas and Dave tried the Steak Mexicano. Both fabulous. And we shared the jalapeño poppers, which were good. Our server Nina, was warm, engaging and very responsive to every need! Highly recommend.

We stopped in here on the Saturday before Valentine's Day so we were concerned we might have to wait, but we got there early and we're seated promptly. All of the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Despite being extremely busy, our server stayed on top of things and our food came out in a timely manner. This is definitely a spot that the locals frequent. The food was delicious! I had vegetarian fajitas which were excellent. My husband had a quesadilla that he enjoyed. My mom ordered some hot chocolate and it came in a beautiful mug and she said it was wonderful. I would recommend checking this place out.

One of our favorite places. Tried the tilapia and it was outstanding, from the way it was prepared to the serving portions. Love this place

We were skeptical about having Mexican food in Indiana as we are from Arizona where eating Mexican food is popular and eaten nearly everyday.

This place is a tourist trap, but for good reason…read more This huge restaurant spans 3 floors with the basement operating as a buffet option ($8.99 per child and $20+ for adults). I took a look, but was more impressed with the freshness, value and experience on the main floor with menu order options. The restaurant style reminded me of a re-imagined Amish version of Cracker Barrel with handmade oddities for sale. It was surprisingly busy with it being 4:30pm, and slightly annoying to learn the kids could not have the buffet if we were ordering from the menu because there are separate seating arrangements. We chose the restaurant side. Our waitress was bubbly and energetic... extremely thorough while maintaining a friendly neighborly vibe. She commanded the restaurant like it was her vocation and truly seemed pleased to serve her hungry patrons. Once she took our order and brought out our drinks we were delighted with a small homemade loaf of seed bread with real butter, apple butter, or Amish peanut butter (peanuts, honey, and marshmallow fluff mixed together) to top it with. As we enjoyed snacking, the two kids meals, and two adult dinners with soft drinks (they do not serve alcohol) came in around $75 total. The kids meal came with homemade fried (2) drumsticks, fries, drink and a cookie reserved for the end of the meal. Everything is homemade and my picky eater's gobbled it all up! Hubby ordered the fried chicken dinner and was happy enough, but both of us noted that our breast was slightly over cooked by a minute or so (slim margins, but made for a slightly dry and tough tasting breast). He loved his corn accompaniment, noting that it tasted like it was freshly cut from the cob. I opted for the Amish sampler plate and enjoyed the meatloaf, the breading of the fried chicken, the texture of the roast beef (though the seasoning could've improved), and the chicken stuffing with fresh carrots with a slight crunchy texture mixed in. The green bean side was good enough with the bacon, but lacking a crispy texture. The mashed potatoes and beef gravy were just okay. This gargantuan portion also came with a small side salad of leafy greens, a cucumber slice and grape tomato with dressing of your choice. Everything was good... so much food! I felt like I should've toiled on the farm all day to earn such a filling meal. For dessert we bought a homemade strawberry rhubarb pie to take home. Perfectly cooked (no soggy bottom) and wonderful texture and married flavors. The pie was worth it for $18 and if you stop by the visitor center you can get a $1 coupon. Just make sure to bring it in so they can staple it to the receipt for accounting. If we ever come back I may need to try the lemon meringue pie. The peaks were gorgeous and so tall! Pros: good home cooking. Homemade pies. Value prices for what you get. Cons: potential long waits, separate buffet from restaurant and some food lacking seasoning.

Kudos to the restaurant for having that option , otherwise I would have had to order multiple meals. Besides the fresh bread and butter - which was amazing- nothing tasted good. The fried chicken was soggy, the meatloaf was mostly bread, the beef had no flavor at all it tasted like it's been rinsed in water. The stuffing was basically just mushy bread with seasoning. The green beens were mushy frozen green beans, the baked apple was overly sugary and the flavor was just strange. The food was 2 stars at best. However, the service was 5 star, excellent. Our waitress was exceptionally attentive and generous with the free bread and helping us with the menu items. It's a very large restaurant and there were only a few us us dining there right after the holidays. There is a large interesting gift shop inside the restaurant and an entire bakery. I wish we would have gotten dessert but given that we were not enjoying our meal, we decided against it.

We are from the West and wanted to try it out. We got there for an early dinner. The place has been open only a few weeks. It was clean and we were waited on immediately. The server was very patient and knowledgeable. I asked if they carried lengua or buche; no. There is no green chili anything on the menu. I asked for street tacos El Pastor; they were out. I ordered chicken enchiladas and husband ordered the closest thing he could find to a green chili burro (Dorado). The salsa was sweet with no tang. I did detect some cilantro in the salsa but that was it for spices for the rest of the meal. We doused our salsa with bottled green jalapeño sauce to give it some flavor. Our food arrived. The enchilada sauce tasted like a cross between enchilada sauce and ketchup. There was a lot of shredded chicken in the enchiladas. Husband said the burro was unremarkable. The rice was good, the refried beans needed salt and weren't cooked in lard. There were absolutely no spices in the food-missing were cumin, cilantro, chili, etc. Mexican food doesn't have to be hot, but it does typically have intense flavors to it. This was totally bland. Anyway, as I checked and and paid the bill, the cashier asked if I had enjoyed the food. I told her this was not typically the Mexican food we were used to in the West. She said that that was true, but what they served worked in the Midwest. And she's right. The restaurant has received a lot of good reviews on Yelp. Hopefully it will do well for the palates it serves. But if you're from the West/Southwest, you will be disappointed.
