    California Burrito

Dear Yelp, Thanks for helping us out!! This place was worth every star. My husband and I stopped in after a 6hr drive for a quick bite before heading to a friend's funeral. The food came out quickly and tasted great! We split a large cheese dip that paired well with the medium-spicy salsa and refried beans that came out with our chips. My husband ordered the California burrito that is probably named that because it's the size of the state of California. It came on a plate the size of a sandwich platter and completely dwarfed his fork, which I photographed next to it for scale! Haha. I ordered a chicken chimichanga, no pico, no guac, extra sour cream. It was perfect. The prices were reasonable. The server was attentive. We made it to the funeral on time and not starving, so that was a huge plus.

Bean enchilada was raw uncooked with sauce poured over!!!!

Worst Mexican food in Corinth! 3 times in a row. Supreme enchiladas were all raw uncooked. Each one was filled with uncooked ingredients spread on tortilla and sauce tasted like it was poured from a can! Skip this place for sure

When I was growing up in Corinth in the 1950's, there were no Mexican Restaurants. Hard to believe that Taco Bell was a pioneer in Mexican food in this area but was soon joined by what is now a large variety of Mexican restaurants, of a more traditional Tex-Mex flavor. At last count I think the number is 5 or 6 counting two locations for one establishment and an occasional Mexican food truck. All are characterized by reasonable prices and usually consistent, very similar, food choices. I've eaten at El Veracruz, the newest, several times but never got around to a reviewing it. The food has been very good, somewhat different in several items from other local choices. My favorite dish has been the traditional tacos which I find really good with several meat choices and a lovely mild green salsa for those who don't want to tempt fate with a blistering red salsa, which is also available. It's kind of buried on the menu so you have to look carefully. The tamales are also a good choice here. Their margaritas are very good and very reasonable during happy hours which vary on different days of the week.

    Taco Salad, no lettuce-my choice

Finally, Mi Toro has some competition and a reason to improve on their slacked quality of late. The menu items at El Veracruz is pretty much the same, misspelled-word for word as Mi Toro. The prices are just a little different on some items. The taco salad, an item I regularly order at Mi Toro, is higher here. I can't say that I am a fan of the taco salad here. The chicken is cooked with some seasoning but it was overly salted. The more I ate the "sicker" I felt. This taco salad bowl is a bit smaller and round-shaped and there isn't much melted or shredded cheese in it. My husband thinks the tacos tastes better here than at Mi Toro. I was hoping this location would have a buffet like their other locations. This building is just too small for that. My next favorite menu item is the chile Relleno and the menu here doesn't have combination plates with a Relleno, but they have it listed under the side/ala carte menu. There is a fresh guacamole cart to have it made at table-side if you wish. There were a couple of issues I hope they work out over time-the salsa jar only has about an inch of salsa in it and they remove the empty jar but do not return with more salsa. Also, the waitress about drove us crazy asking if we were ok. Every time I had a bite to chew she would appear and ask me, 'you ok?'. This was the home of another Mexican food restaurant a couple of years ago but the low quality food put it out of business. I am very hopeful this one will stay for a long time. Mi Toro has raised the prices of their meals AND cut the size of the meal down and the quality of the food and temperature it is served is pretty poor. El Veracruz should give enough competition to make Mi Toro step up their game.

I saw the waitress bring the bowl over to another table. I pointed and said "I want that!"

My family and I were passing through heading from Shiloh to Mississippi and stopped off here. I literally pointed to what was just delivered to the table next to us and ordered it without any idea what it was. It was absolutely the best fajita thing I've ever eaten. By the time I took the picture, I had already eaten most of it. The food was great and the service was faster than Taco Bell! This place won't disappoint.

Mi Toro is hugely popular with locals as you will see by the cars in the parking lot on an average night. Food can sometimes vary but usually is very good and very reasonably priced which is why people keep coming back. Don't hesitate if something doesn't suit you to tell your waiter, they'll make it right promptly in my experience. On Tuesday and Thursday nights, they feature what I think are the best Margaritas in town at half price. Their small Margarita now at $3.99 is still a bargain and a perfect accompaniment to the food. Avoid larger sizes, multiples or pitchers unless you are sharing as a group or a designated driver. The top shelf fajitas feature skirt steak and the generous quantity make a good entree to share with two people. Quite unexpected on a Mexican menu and somewhat unusual, the hamburgers are very good and the fries are delicious. The restaurant has been remodeled and is upscale in its surroundings. Be sure to note the artwork and blown glassware lamps and fixtures.
