I first wrote this review nine years ago and I wanted to write an update. During that time Mi Toro has gained a lot of competition but remains, in my opinion, the best and most consistent in the area. Mi Toro is hugely popular with locals as you will see by the cars in the parking lot on an average night. Food can sometimes vary but usually is very good and very reasonably priced which is why people keep coming back. Don't hesitate if something doesn't suit you to tell your waiter, they'll make it right promptly in my experience. On Tuesday and Thursday nights, they feature what I think are the best Margaritas in town at half price. Their small Margarita now at $3.99 is still a bargain and a perfect accompaniment to the food. Avoid larger sizes, multiples or pitchers unless you are sharing as a group or a designated driver. The top shelf fajitas feature skirt steak and the generous quantity make a good entree to share with two people. Quite unexpected on a Mexican menu and somewhat unusual, the hamburgers are very good and the fries are delicious. The restaurant has been remodeled and is upscale in its surroundings. Be sure to note the artwork and blown glassware lamps and fixtures. read more

Overall it was a decent experience but I will definitely be trying out all of the other Mexican restaurants in the area before considering returning. It really felt like our waiter was rushing us and didn't want us there. The chips where pretty overcooked. The good part is that the portions where great and they had really reasonable prices. El Veracruz blows this place out of the water-go there instead. I'm honestly surprised this place is always full of people. This is the second time I've eaten here, tried to give it a fair chance and still fell short. I didn't like the fact that I paid $8 for a bag of chips and salsa and almost the whole bag is broken and in tiny, unusable pieces. I ordered quite a bit and some was ok but what stuck out to me was the Al pastor and carnitas meat didn't have much flavor. It seems they are so busy that they only cook stuff enough to have it ready to go and don't let things marinate or stew long enough to get the true authentic flavor of what it is. The carnitas was super oily and not crisped up before putting in a taco to serve. (El Veracruz does this and I love it!) Seems they just pull it out of the container and put it in a taco. I wouldn't eat here again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone either. Pros: - they have a lot of items to choose from - you can order through an app which is super convenient -drive thru is convenient -taco 'shells' seem to be made from scratch (although they break easily) -many locations throughout MS Cons: - chips are super thin and break even scooping their watery salsa - everything I listed above. read more

Got hungry before our trip, so we decided last minute to catch a bite and from door to booth was under a minute, they had chips and salsa at our table as we were sitting down. We knew pretty much what we wanted, and went ahead to place our order. I had the Hombre fajitas, which were amazing, great flavor, good texture, a little heavy on the vegetables, but overall great meal. Service was on point, for lack of a better term. Our drinks were arriving as we were ordering, and they never got below half empty! Our wait staff was very pleasant, and overall the 2 meals was affordable, right at 40.00 to feed two HANGRY adults (with take home)! ***Update:1-11-2016 I still haven't returned to this location so I am unsure of the quality or if there have been any changes. I am aware it appears as if I just recently posted a good review of this location yesterday. When I write reviews there are usually 10 in queue, waiting to be finished. I just finished a good review yesterday, BUT the bad thing is, I ate at this location 4 times while the good review was in queue. I ate there this evening and it definitely deserves an update. A couple nights ago I wanted to go to Mi Toro for the Steak Jalisco (Ribeye steak, baked potato, mixed grilled vegetables and 6 shrimp). I ordered that tonight and was disappointed. That wasn't the first time I've been disappointed over the food at this location. The potato wasn't hot enough to melt butter (dead give away not a fresh baked potato), vegetables almost icy in the center. I wanted to tell the waiter to have it microwaved for me, but I didn't want the steak to get cold, while they were nuking my meal. I ate the steak and shrimp and put the rest in a to-go box, so I could heat it, at home. My husband's meal was cold also. The plates aren't even warm anymore. Years ago, as they were put on the table, waiters would say "hot plate!" There is no need to warn us 'hot plate', because they serve them now, without wearing mittens and any protection (unless you order the fajitas on a sizzling plate). I put our uneaten food into a box to heat and eat at home. I was quiet and polite about this and then he said he can't do anything unless I tell a waiter. He looked through me again and told me, the next time, tell a waiter. Everything about him and his attitude was screaming, 'Zero damns given!'. I closed the boxes and told him there won't be a next time. Turns out, the potato was boiled. The skin peeled off with absolutely no potato attached. The potato was 'wet' on the inside and not dry and fluffy, like a baked potato should be. I turned it into potato salad. This was a fun little find thanks to Yelp! We seated ourselves per the sign and were quickly greeted by a staff member bringing the obligatory basket of chips and salsa. We all ordered the "El Jefe" Top Shelf Margarita pictures on the tabletop specials booklets. It, surprisingly, was just as blue as the picture although we assumed that was just an oversaturated image. I don't recommend it unless you like your margaritas on the sweet side. I had the lunch special Enchiladas Verde. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the beef was chopped steak rather than ground beef. Very good. On the way out, we noticed a guac cart! I wish we'd noticed on the way in! I'd recommend this place if you're passing through! read more

Food was good Salsa is spicy which is a good thing. Chips were thin and mostly broken. I had the enchiladas verde with chicken. 3 enchiladas covered in sour cream and lettuce and a green sauce. Was very tasty. I poured some of the salsa over them to add a little heat. Friend had beef enchilada supremo and when then delivered it, it didn't look right so he asked Olof it was beef and the guy said yeah, beef. It was chicken. So he told them and then gave him the beef one and let him keep the chicken. Good food and good service read more

While growing up in nearby town of Glen, I vaguely remember very few Mexican restaurants in Corinth back in the 90's. Actually I can only remember one, which closed long ago, and then Mi Toro moved in. I rarely ever go to the original Hwy. 72 location anymore because the S. Harper is much closer. Before becoming Mi Toro, the brick building used to be a barbeque restaurant, which is kind of odd, but anyway. You seat yourself and service is usually pretty fast. Chips and salsa are free to each table. I was kind of disappointed that they no longer serve the salsa in small carafes but in small indidual bowls (I usually pillage the free salsa). Prices are definitely reasonable and portion sizes are quite large, almost always too much after all those chips and salsa. I like the mushroom quesadilla and the fajitas (which I usually split with someone else). You know, you get stuck in a rut and you like what you like! I have tried the taquitos before and they were so-so and I've never been brave enough to try the chilaquiles...yet. I used to work at a Mexican restaurant so I got kind of spoiled on handmade corn masa tortillas and pork cheek tamales. Now the food is definitely "americanized" Mexican food or Tex-Mex maybe? Not sure about the correct nomenclature here .... In any case, it's still the best Mexican food around here. The lunch prices are so cheap, 2 people could probably eat here for less than $10 (that means you just have to get creative). If I'm ever in the mood for Mexican, I always come here. The only con I have is that they don't make fresh guac. I know it's that cryovac prepacked stuffs they use, it doesn't even remotely look like guac!!! :( read more

With pictures of the food that are faded and look like they haven't been changed since the establishment opened, the first impression was underwhelming. The food followed suit. The chips were all thin and broken, not capable of holding air. The food was not good, rather tasteless, but they tried to make up for this fact by hiding it with spice. Not a very good facade at all. You couldn't even truly tell the difference between the burrito and an enchilada. Went for lunch one day and dinner another: -chicken soup: rice, large chunks of chicken, avocado, lime I think everything I had in Corinth was salty, and this was no diff. But pretty clean flavors when you add the lime and some hot sauce! its a big portion so no need to order a full entree -chicken quesadilla: the 'normal' chicken quesadilla which has cheese and shredded chicken (vs. grilled chicken quesadilla) GREAT flavors! not bland at all! while a greasy from the hot, melted cheese -carnitas: big chunks of tender pork over rice, beans, and guac salad with tortilla on the side holy guacamole! so delish!!!! the pork was super tender and paired great with the rice and beans. i would order this again! be sure to try their verde sauce and hot sauce. both delish (and salty) read more

Normally one of our favorite places...I always order the tortilla soup. It is usually absolutely fantastic. This time it was disgusting. Huge piece of chicken fat floating in soup, NO taste. Zero. Hunks of chicken, no jalapeños, and some chopped up avocado. No seasoning. No real tomato...a few chopped pieces, no onion. My husband ordered baby burrito. Said it tasted like cardboard. Mom had taco salad and it made her sick. Doubt we will return any time soon. Salsa was decent but who pays for a yucky meal just because the salsa was good? Maybe just a bad cook day? read more

I read reviews on yelp and decided to give Mi Toro a try. I had the steak fajitas lunch. The price was quite nice and the portions were large. The steak was very flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised that the guacamole was excellent as it is not too common to get good guacamole at most restaurants. Very flavorful. The Pico was also very good and flavorful. My family of 5 ate here when we were staying at the hotel behind the restaurant. The front desk attendant at the hotel recommended the place. Hands down, the best Mexican food I've ever had. My husband doesn't like Mexican food, and even he was impressed. We knew the food was going to be decent when we walked in. The whole restaurant was packed. I gave 4 stars because they were clearly understaffed making the service slow, but servers were friendly rushing around trying to keep up. I have unfortunately been to this place several times. I don't understand why, but the locals love this place. Every time I visit my family they drag me here. This is by far the worst Mexican restaurant I have been to in my life. I have tried something different every time I have been here. And everything tastes the same. If I were to guess I would say the kitchen staff takes big turds on the plate, throw a little salsa or red sauce on there and BAM!!! It's a mi toro meal. Food poisoning. I've been a fan of Mi Toro since high school. After graduating from college and moving back home, several of my friends had told me about their experiences with undercooked food, etc. Nonetheless, I didn't believe it until two days ago. I've been nursing nausea, vomiting, headaches, etc. The inability to keep food down after having dinner there on 5/22/15 has caused dangerous levels of blood sugar, ranging from 48-68. I'm finally getting better but I will NOT be eating at any of the Mi Toro restaurants and will definitely tell all of my friends, co-workers, and family to do the same. read more
