Each taco was stuffed full of protein and perfect till the last bite. I enjoyed the sauce bar and they complimented the tacos very well. The service was great as well friendly faces, they were quick to notice I needed a plate when I was sharing tacos with my fiancée. The inside was clean and comfortable and they also had a nice patio area outside as well. The ice cream was a couple steps over so naturally we had to get dessert. The ice cream was also fantastic and I hear it's homemade - I think the cheese is my favorite. Pro tip for a limited time, if you spend $35+ on tacos and bring your receipt to ice cream you get a free scoop!

This is a…read moreshopping center that wraps the QT on the corner of Chamblee Tucker Rd (right where it makes a turn towards Tucker) as it transitions into Pleasantdale Rd. There's a bunch of parking in this lot that formerly was home to a Joann's Fabrics. The restaurant is in the former site of a swag Mexican restaurant called El Matador. After experiencing the very mediocre El Matador that previously inhabited this end of the shopping center, we were pleasantly surprised at the good reviews left by some of our local friends. We live in the Northcrest neighborhood basically right behind this place so it's nice to know that a decent restaurant has opened nearby - as much as we love Mediterranean Bakery it's hard to eat there more than once a week. This place offers up a welcome change. From what I can tell the interior has been completely revamped - new everything in a clean, modernist vibe. To the left if the creamery, offering up a fairly large selection of ice cream. I didn't personally try any of it but my wife did and reported that the treats were very creamy and good flavored. I focused on the larger-than-expected Mexican food menu to the right (the rooms are separated a bit but you can easily see each side from the other. This is fast-casual so you order at the counter and they delivery it to your table. On the overhead monitors there was a "Seafood Taco Tray" special that looked right up our ally. 4 seafood tacos of your choice from fried fish, grilled shrimp, grilled lobster, fried calamari and/or seared scallops, all for $13.99 including medium fountain drink. We both ended up ordering the same but I got the scallop while my wife got the calamari. The food took about 15 minutes so I believe much of what we received was made-to-order. The tacos were all served in flour tortillas - I don't remember if I was given an option for corn but assume it could be had. These aren't the micro-street tacos, rather the full size and they were well packed. I thought everything good but next time I'd just get all shrimp, as it was outstanding. Both the scallop and lobster were a little weak in flavor. It also came with a shrimp-based soup that I liked but my wife thought a bit fishy. There's a salsa bar much like you would see at more traditional taquerias on Buford Highway - I tried most of the sauces and liked them all - maybe it's just me but I think they were slightly toned down. From the restaurant's appearance I'd say it's setup to be more gringo friendly. Service was great with the person at the counter able to describe the various options and give advice based on your likes. Overall the entire experience was terrific - I'll update the review after my next visit once things settle-in a bit - I also want to include my thoughts on the ice cream.

The building looks like it might have been a former O'Charley's--or at least has that familiar layout--but don't let that fool you. What's happening inside is something special. Yes, everyone gets a basket, and they're fantastic--but do yourself a favor and upgrade to the version topped with mozzarella and served with their signature marinara. Mmmwah... mama mia. That simple addition takes them to a whole new level. Easily a must-order. The menu features Italian specialty entrées served à la carte, so salads and sides are separate. We were warned about the portion sizes (they weren't kidding), so we stuck to entrées only--and even ordered half portions. Somehow, that was still more than enough food. We tried the meat sauce spaghetti and the blackened chicken Alfredo. The spaghetti was solid and comforting, exactly what you'd hope for--but the blackened chicken Alfredo absolutely stole the show. Rich, flavorful, and completely over the top in the best way possible. Service was warm and friendly. Our server was very kind--maybe a little forgetful at times--but nothing that took away from the overall experience. Even though we were completely full, we couldn't resist ordering cannolis to go--and wow, what a decision. They held up perfectly for a late-night treat and were every bit as delicious as they looked. We don't pass through this area often, but Bambinelli's has officially earned a permanent spot on our repeat list. Well done.
