Tucked into the winding streets of the Albacin, far from the bustle of the city center, El Trillo was a lovely find for a calm dinner at sunset. We were seated on the terrace with a beautiful view of the Alhambra. The menu included innovative riffs on classic Andalusian dishes. The Iberian pig cheek was meltingly tender yet rich in taste and the Octopus and boletus risotto beautifully balanced the briny sweetness of the octopus with the earthy tones of the boletus (better known as porcini mushrooms in Italian and English) Service was unhurried but attentive creating a lovely setting for quiet conversation.. Their wine list was thoughtfully curated with a focus on smaller Spanish producers offered more than a few delightful choices. From El Trillo Restaurante, you get the prime view of Alhambra. Particularly if you book a dinner reservation, you will enjoy the sunset view of the golden Alhambra. Though a restaurant can't rely on views to thrive. We found the architecture of the restaurant is also very special. A Buddha statue greets you at the front. You can have the garden seating or balcony seatings that get the glimpse of Alhambra. We chose the latter with following dishes: Arroz Pulpo, and Bacalao a La Plancha. The pan seared cod was tender and fresh coupled w/ fried pumpkins and beans. To add the flavor, three thin slices of pork belly (fat) were placed on top of the cod. The octopus risotto and octopus in black rice were something interesting. Personally I think the black rice octopus was taster than the risotto, which was too rich in butter and cream. The sangria was not that impressive, maybe the red was too dry and not enough of fruits. If you do go there, please remember to spread some mosquitoes repellent. Beautiful restaurant with wonderful views, but the food was a letdown. Turbot was cooked well but swimming in a bland tomato sauce, which they also used in the boar and mushroom risotto. Mineral water was listed as Pellegrino on the menu but we were served house water - it's fine they use a soda stream but to charge 3.75 euros per bottle is a joke. The women at the table next to us were watching loud YouTube videos which was annoying - not the restaurant's fault but I would've appreciated if someone had asked them to turn it down. We wanted a break from the frantic tapas atmosphere after a long morning, but this tourist trap wasn't worth it. read more

Our travel agent recommended this restaurant before visiting the Alhambra. We wandered the town trying to find the address using maps, and perhaps indirectly we at last arrived. What an amazing and spectacular location. Our entire balcony table looked up to the Alhambra. Service was excellent service and the food very good. I don't remember exactly what each member of our group of four had, but I know all four of us were very pleased. It just felt like this was the right place and experience for the occasion of visiting Granada. read more

We had an amazing dinner and they sat us at the best table with a direct view of The Alhambra. The staff was amazing and attentive. The ambiance was perfect. We could not have been more pleased. Outstanding restaurant! Went here because of a resident recommendation. First, the setting is stunning. Ask to sit on the Terrace and you'll be rewarded with a beautiful view of the Alhambra at night. The food is wonderful. We had an artichoke and shrimp tapa. We both had risotto; octopus for my wife and wild boar for me. They were both delicious. The staff was super nice and attentive. Great place for a romantic evening meal. Highly recommended! Came in recommendation of our air BnB host. Overall experience was good. Not partcularlily busy as it was winter. Outdoor dinning basically empty. Food decent - appetizers were excellent ( artichoke with shrimp and ham, spinach salad was fresh). Main Couse was mixed - Iberico pork shoulder was solid but we thought the cod fish main Couse was not that fresh. Mushroom risotto was tasty - my daughter did enjoy it. Service was proficient with one hiccup. We initially ordered a glass of wine but decided to go with bottle for the house wine. They brought to table a 3/4 bottle of wine and I informed waiter that this is not a full bottle and they did bring out then a new bottle - however this did left a negative vibe of the experience. Much rather they charge the glass and then the bottle then to pass off the already opened/served bottle as new. Think this is an area of improvement needed. Food overall was good except for the cod ( does not seem fresh) Desert was decent. read more

I made a reservation for my last dinner in Granada. It didn't disappoint, the weather was a bit cool our server even brought us some blankets for the ones that felt more cold. The wine was on point and the grilled rock fish the best I've ever had. Will definitely comeback here if I'm around Granada again. . read more

The view from the terrace is spectacular, and looking down at the garden patio below is so pretty. You can tell a lot of care is taken in table settings and dishes each day as well as maintenance of the gardens. Eating in a mini orchard of pear and quince trees=amazing! We ordered the octopus and boletus risotto, and it was a wonderful dish. Glad we shared. We enjoyed the bread and mini-app service added up our choices, but be aware there is a charge. We were not surprised, and we were happy to pay, but we realize some visitors from the US might think the bread is included, so just be prepared for that. We were the first ones there (without reservations) at 7:40, but we had a nice dining experience after a long hot Sunday. The views of the Alhambra from the upper terrace were great. read more

We requested a seat in the patio area to be surrounded by the beautiful greenery. We weren't disappointed. Rafa was our server and did an excellent job. We really enjoyed our dinner of black rice and baby cuttlefish and the lentils. We had a great bottle of red wine that we didn't finish before dinner. We asked to go take a picture and see the view from the terrace and afterwards the staff asked us if we wanted to finish our wine from a table on the terrace with an amazing view of the Alhambra. This is probably my new favorite restaurant in the world. Not just because of the food but the setting, the service and the atmosphere just elevates all of your senses. When seated on the balcony, you get the greatest view of the Alhambra, especially at night. The garden itself is an oasis of tranquility and even when the restaurant is full, you can enjoy the peace of Granada. My culinary experience started with a shared plate of the squid leg with different sauces around. Each a delicatessen by itself but combined they give you the perfect umami. A need to eat! The second course was the steak in red wine sauce with pears and... wait for it... foie gras! I thought I died and went to heaven. Again a perfect combination although the sweetness of the pear was overkill. My dinner partner enjoyed me having multiple food orgasm over this plate. A show on it's own I guess. The staff was amazingly friendly especially when my friend's plate came out too spicey, he insisted to switch it multiple times. Beautiful, pristine location; as if you are enjoying dinner in someone's secret garden... And it's almost like that finding the place! After several minutes of uphill walking and climbing steps, the outdoor terrace seating is majestic. The smoked fish+quinoa starter is refreshing and flavorful. Paired with a vino tinto, it was exquisite. Next, meal was the spicy chicken curry. Fun, different dish to try on this Andalusian journey. I definitely recommend checking this place out. The restaurant itself is very pretty with a view of the Alhambra from the porch. The garden area is also very nice. The staff are all young and friendly. The appetizer was a delicious melon soup with Iberico ham. We split a Leek Cheese cake that was beautifully presented and very good. Sadly our main entries were both disappointments. They both looked fantastic (Cod on a beet purée with bacon, the other being the Stuffed Pork Loin) but lacked any real punch. Came here on a quiet, sunny afternoon for a casual birthday lunch with my husband. The food here is pleasantly unexpected and unique. We shared the mint hummus (freshly made with a generous side of bread and crackers), grilled artichokes (olive oil and sea salt really accentuated the taste), and the cod with egg and red Thai chilies (super fresh, seasoned really well, spicy; the potatoes were perfectly crispy and not drenched in oil). We also ordered the cheesecake (light, creamy, with a solid crust that crumbles easily in your mouth) and coffee for dessert; the waiter generously took both off our bill as it was my birthday! Our Airbnb host recommended two places in Granada while we were there. El Trillo was one of them. Nicely tucked away in the cobblestone maze of the neighborhood and beautiful upon entrance of the terrace. My wife speaks Spanish but both of our waiters were fluent in English. With recommendations from the our waiters we chose the mix of croquetas which are more unique than any other restaurant that serves a variety. We had a nice spinach salad to share and followed it up with the octopus risotto which was incredible. A heavier richer octopus risotto than others I have had in the past. A nice dessert topped off a meal certainly worth remembering. Highly recommended and call for reservations to make sure you can get a table during the busy times. read more

This place is so gooooood. The best duck confit I've ever had. Extremely tender and juicy. Other dishes were good and varied in flavor. One of the chicken curry dishes with a spicy symbol next to it on the menu had a little bit of a kick. That's surprising for food in Spain, in my opinion. Otherwise, Tillo serves inventive but straightforward food in an elegant surrounding. It was nearly deserted at 10pm on a Sunday evening but appears to have a lovely patio for warmer weather.
