So delicious! The prawn croquette was delicious. I got the paella for one and it was the perfect portion size. The shrimp cake was a bit dry but tasty. The sangria was nice and refreshing as well. Overall, well-priced. The service was great too! Shout out to the servers for all their hard work! And the cooks!

On our last day at Granada, we stumbled by this place while just finishing the Alhambra tour. They gave us some free small appetizer sampler of some type of hummus on bread, and was pretty decent. My wife got the Iberico pork with sauce and asked for medium cook. Boy, she chowed that down and was impressed at the portion. I had the steak cooked medium rare. It came with potatoes and I wished it was more warmer temperature wise. My son got the spaghetti with meat sauce which he goobled it up. Overall, they enjoyed their dishes while mine could have been better. I give this place a low 4 stars.

Great food. We had salad and gnocchi was very good. Service is Spain. Your gonna wait. But the food and prices are good! Solid place to eat.

Super duper salty arroz negro, DO NOT ORDER!!!

The food was super salty!!! I ordered the arroz negro (basically seafood rice in squid ink) and my companion ordered the fish, both dishes were salty as hell. I had to order a few drinks and still couldn't finish the food - I guess that's the point? Also ordered the recommended croquettes, yes they're big but nothing to write home about!

Carmela is easy to find as it is located in the central Granada and there is a statue right in front of it. The ambience is great inside and outside and they are open from breakfast. My husband and I ordered egg soup, risotto and ham coroquettes. Everything was good, and ham coroquettes are must try especially. They are priced right and servers are friendly. Carmela is one of the great places to dine in Granada.

Had an early dinner at around 6:00p.m on Sunday. Expectedly not busy. We came with much expectations from the reviews. It didn't let me down at all!! They offer gruten-free and vegetarian menu as well other than normal one.All dishes we went for were amazing but rich and flavored so some people might think a bit strong. They have different menus for lunch and dinner. But dinner menu has a lot more varieties so the diners next to us ended up stopping ordering lunch menu and opting for all what we did among dinner menu.(Dishes next to us sometimes look more amazing.haha ) Cozy and nice ambience with affordable prices! Definitely recommended.

We Only has dessert, which was nice but not overwhelming. The other diners seemed to enjoy their food. The service was good and the menu looked promising. Would come again for a full meal at some point if we visit Granada again

Octopus with spicy mojo-Picon sauce and parmentier

This restaurant was recommend by the Lonely Planet Guide and also by my hotel. I must say I had high expectations and I was a bit disappointed. By all means, it is a good place but probably not somewhere I would go again knowing that there are great restaurants in Granada. The location is great. Just off one of the biggest shopping streets of the historical district. The terrasse is nice and cozy. The interior is also beautiful. I also liked that there were pictures for everything on the menu. The food was ok. The stuffed peppers on a bed of cream peas lacked a bit of taste but they were well cooked and presented in a very nice fashion. The fried sugar cane honey aubergine, although the portion was huge, was pretty bland and uninspiring. The black Iberian pork, chorizo and artichoke rice was impeccable - very tasty and well presented. Finally, after ordering grilled octopus all around Portugal and Spain, I was pretty disappointed with the octopus at Carmela. The octopus was served on a parmentier. Not only was the cheese taste completely overbearing and extremely heavy, but the octopus was mushy.. There were plenty of items on the menu that looked very appetizing. I think this restaurant is a hit or miss and I was not lucky. The service was very efficient and the waiters were nice. The prices are a bit high in comparison to similar restaurants in Granada.

The portion sizes were generous and the food was generally good. We ordered the croquettes, chicken wings, sangria, and honey onion toast. The free tapas of foie gras covered with chocolate tasted quite strange. Otherwise, the other the other food was relatively tasty. The chicken wings were delicious. The toast was quite heavy.

Sort of a franchise feel and odd menu presentation at first deterred me but due to fatigue and hunger I submitted. Thankfully so as the wine selection was great; sparking options truly enjoyable. The tapas standards are on the menu as well as a few creative differences. Everything coming out of this tiny kitchen is fresh and wonderful. I was most impressed with the paella-like rice dish option with pork, chorizo and peppers.

To their credit, the service was the "best" (most attentive, by US standards) of almost anywhere we've been in Spain so far. That said, the food was average and at least partially frozen-reheated. The cod and oxtail were both cooked pretty well, but didn't come out entirely hot. I'm pretty sure the roast potatoes with most dishes were frozen/reheated since they were a bit sqiushy, and so were the green peas and such. Bread came automatically but was commercial and nothing special. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't especially great either.

(Note that the restaurant is on both sides of the pedestrian street! ) Our waiter was cheerful and amusing. Although we mostly spoke Spanish, his English was quite good in the din of the small room. Better was the food . A really pleasant surprise. A major plus is the atmosphere which feels really authentically Spanish with a largely local crowd that night. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
