Went to a concert at the Mann. They had a bunch of food trucks at the venue. Usually I don't like food truck food unless I'm in dire need. This concert was one of those dire need times. I got chips and guacamole as well as a bowl that contained rice, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. Honestly I was pretty impressed. They gave a fair amount of guacamole which is pretty rare for most places. The bowl was also very filling and they definitely used fresh ingredients. I ordered the shrimp tacos from their food truck today and they are absolutely the worst tacos I've ever had. The wait for shrimp was questionable but I looked past it. Upon receiving my food, off rip, presentation was a turn off as sauce was slipping in the container. I gave it the benefit of the doubt think flavor would save the whole ordeal, i did wait a while and paid $16. Safe to say, I will never order from this establishment again. We had the opportunity to check out El Tlaloc last night at the Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company in Croydon, PA. Side note: NCBC is a super cool spot to hang out. They serve chicken, brisket, and shrimp tacos in sets of 3 ranging from $10-$13. Also offering quesadillas that looked appetizing. The service was phenomenal. The young man was efficient and accommodating. We ordered the brisket, shrimp and pollo, substituting lettuce and tomato for onions, cilantro and salsa verde. The food was done a little too quickly and lacked flavor. Very bland. Their homemade hot sauce ended up saving the day. I got the check out El Tlaloc last Thursday night after a night in fishtown. Their truck was parked at the corner of Frankford and Girard. There were a few trucks to choose from so I went with this one. They have a pretty simple menu with a variety of tacos. I went with the brisket tacos for $10. First the corn tortilla, I love! I don't think it's a taco unless it's on corn. The brisket was delicious and perfectly cooked. It was also packed full of beef. The cilantro sauce was on point with the onions but I needed more. It needed something to cut the heaviness of the brisket, maybe pickled jalapeños, radish or something. I'm no chef but it was just very heavy. I would give El Tlaloc a solid 3 stars and I can't wait to try other variations of their tacos. FYI their homemade hot sauce is legit. read more

We had about 40 people with different food needs.We wanted to be very cautious of our staff with dietary restrictions such as gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, and various allergies. They were at an Electric Factory outdoor concert and I was very disappointed. I waited 40 minutes (45+ if you count the line) for my 3 chorizo tacos and completely missed Eagles of Death Metal because of their terrible service. I waited 10 minutes, went to get ice cream, walked around, went to the bathroom, and still waited another 20 minutes to get my meal. They were very arrogant, and upon looking into their truck, appeared to be totally unorganized and unprofessional. I've worked in food trucks and in food service for over half a decade. The three of them were running over each other, constantly barking at each other, and scrambling for ingredients. Totally unacceptable. They had no problem emptying their tip jar, of course. I wouldn't wait that long for tacos in any situation, and in a concert venue it was TOTALLY unacceptable and they were not apologetic at all. One customer in front of me asked about this and was told, "We make all of our food to order. It takes longer. OK?" Um, no. It's not OK. You should be prepping and making food in advance during the end of bands' sets so they can be dished out when a rush happens. That's common food truck etiquette. They completely lied to customers served after me that their orders would be ready in 10 minutes. Sure, they were some of the best tacos I've had since I went to Columbia, but they were not worth the wait at all. I hope they are NEVER invited back. After eating my meager 3 tacos (at $9 plus tip that they damn well didn't deserve) I was still hungry, and I got in line to get chicken fingers and cheese fries at the next truck and was queued and served in less than 3 minutes.
