Pastor and chicken pastor
Stephanie N.

This is a MUST TRY PLACE!!! They claim they are the founders of pastor. If you do not eat pork they have chicken pastor!!! That is what I got. Touristy, a bit pricey but for every reason as they are the founders. Fast service and a variety of sauces. Do not miss this place even for a small taco!!!

Stayed at a nearby AirBnB. They have a catchy sign stating that they are the originators of tacos al pastor. Service for an informal restaurant was great. Limited English speaking wait staff but hey, while in Mexico, speak Spanish. Communicated very nicely. Al pastor is outstanding, juicy and tender. Salsas complimented the pork. Grilled steak was also awesome. With beer and dessert, the total for three hungry people was around $32. Would go again in a heartbeat.

Arrachera Tacos

This is my friend's favorite place to get arrachera tacos so he brought me here. This was my time trying arrachera tacos and I am glad I did finally. The meat was tender and juicy and filled with all kinds of flavor. The salsas were good to add on top, but needed because of how good the meat was. Definitely a solid spot!

I wont dare say these are the best tacos because I still have time in Mexico to find a better place but to date these are the best tacos de pastor I've ever had. You can also watch them make your tacos from the table it's great. I'm allergic to corn but they accommodated my allergy with flour tortillas. I also got an order of seasoned onions (spring onions?). They are perfect to put on your tacos but if you are not super into eating just onion I recommend asking for a 1/2 order. It's still the same price but less wasteful if you don't plan on taking it to go or finishing it. This is probably the closest you will come to eating street tacos if you are not into standing on a corner and eating from a cart. (I definitely recommend eating as much street food as possible). The service was exceptional and fast. 10/10 recommend!

My first and last meal during this trip to CDMX. Staff is really friendly and fast, tacos are flavorful, especially tacos Al pastor. I also had chicken tortilla soup which was yummy. Thanks!

So good. Had a beer, 3 Al pastor tacos, and the grilled cheese. All were really great. They gave me 5 kinds of sauces to try with the tacos. A few were particularly great. Overall, loved this place.

Had to come try the people that call themselves the creators of the Al pastor taco! The food came very quickly and the employees were very nice. The tacos here were pretty tasty but definitely not as good as other local clots in CDMX. They are a little pricier too, but definitely a good spot!

Solid al pastor tacos. Tasty but small meat portion for the price. Friendly service. Quiet neighborhood, nice for outdoor seating.

Solid food. Quick service. Plenty of outside seating. They make really good al pastor tacos. I also thought their bistec tacos were really good. I had a bite of my son's quesadillas Nortena and the cheese they use is fantastic.

I have been dreaming of these al pastor tacos since our Mexico City trip in 2019. They changed my life! Since then, I've been comparing all al pastor tacos to the ones here. We recently went back in January 2022 and I was pleasantly surprised to find that El Tizoncito has many locations throughout Mexico City. The tacos are just as I remembered. I always order them "planchado," which is essentially more grilled. Excuse me while I continue to dream about these until my next CDMX trip.

Good salsas, but Skimpy meat portions. I will pass on this when there are plenty of other good taco stands.

This time there were about 10 people waiting and I finally decided it was worth it... and it absolutely was. The tacos were incredible, the service was fast, and they bring out 5-6 different sauces so you can try different flavors with everything. I sat outside, which made the experience even better great people-watching, amazing energy, and everyone walking by looked effortlessly stylish. Mexico City really is such a trendy, vibrant city. Honestly, I still think about these tacos. I could close my eyes and dream about this place.

Full disclaimer: these are my first tacos in Mexico City. The trumpo was really good!! Highly recommend! The res was good too, but not super standout. The chicharron itself was really good, but I don't know if I love it in a taco. The trumpo with the pineapple really stole the show. It's nice that the 3 tacos come with some potatoes. The potatoes were good! It seemed smashed then fried. Can't go wrong with frying potatoes. Food came out fast! It seems like this place can get super packed and busy, which I would think is a good sign!

The restaurant seating does give mall food court vibes, but that's ok i wasn't looking for anything fancy. All the wait staff and servers were very friendly and attentive at all times. Food does not take long at all to come out. Overall the food was disappointing. The only taco that was decent and had some flavor was the chicken taco(pechuga). Quite literally everything else was flavorless. The sauces on the side were the saving grace for every item of food I ordered. The ribeye taco was soaked in grease, which made eating it messy. The chuleta taco had no flavor and i would even say tasted bad. I do not recommend it. The food is definitely overpriced, especially considering the area and the amount of taco vendors that sell better tacos. Now what made this experience terrible was my waiter. I ask for the check and the total was $1139. I told him i was paying cash and i put down $1150 cash. He then taps at the receipt saying there's a mandatory tip and service fee. So he added on $100 to the bill right there on the spot. I analyze the receipt he handed to me and none of this is reflected on the receipt. I refused to argue so i put down the extra $100 and asked for the change. Tipping isn't mandatory especially for a table of 2. So i feel the waiter just made this up. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. STAY AWAY and save some money. Theres better tasting food at way better prices in the area.

For me, this was a one and done sorta place cause there's other taco shops around I want to try. A lil' but pricey in my opinion. Beware of the upcharges sales pitch when ordering. "Want this? Want that?" Next thing you know, you're bill has increased. Jamaica drink was small. I didn't ask for a refill because I wasn't sure they offer it but didn't ask.

The patio was very inviting, so even though it was a bit chilly we sat outside. Our waiter was great, he was also busy, but we got our orders in and received in a reasonable amount of time. The cocktails were off the charts. Honestly can't remember what they were, we got two with Mayan honey and spices, and they were phenomenal. So fruity and spicy and served in an aesthetically pleasing way. One was the cocktail of the month, Aperol and mezcal, why not? Tasted like a, "fruity fireplace," according to our friend to which we wholeheartedly agreed. They gave us each an elote amuse bouche which was a tasty surprise and got us ready for more tastiness. Had a variety of tacos that we all enjoyed immensely. Cauliflower-both types were equally good. Birria queso was incredibly rich and just saturated with flavor-in the best way possible. Had esquites with blue corn and ham croquettes that we thoroughly enjoyed, especially the side salsas. Definitely had to do some negotiating when divvying them up since all of use could have eaten more. This place is not inexpensive, you will drop some money here, especially since you'll want to keep trying cocktails and tacos, but it's worth it. Name on the door was Maiz y Tinto, so that confused me for a bit.
