I gave this restaurant a 3 because it's by far the best Mexican food that I've ever eaten in Northern/Central Minnesota...HOWEVER at this restaurant I also received the WORST service that I've ever had at any restaurant.
My husband and I were visiting from Nevada where we have a wide range of Mexican food to choose from. He is from Mexico and is also a chef so we've had some awesome Mexican meals. We've heard good things about this restaurant so we went in with high hopes. First thought...it looks cute, but really hot! They need to invest in some AC. But then again maybe it just adds to the Mexican vibe?? (We frequent Mexico often and it can be quite toasty!!)
The server greets us with *sigh* "ughh...my legs hurt"...okay? What would you like us to do about it. I'm sorry, sucks for you. Fine whatever....so she is young and hasn't been properly trained. Probably the owners daughter?? A different very friendly male server brings our drinks to us. Then our server comes back and starts to take our order. My husband orders for me the Taquitos Mexicanos and then begins to order his meal and she stops him and says "I thought that was for you" and he replies no that was her order I'm going to order mine. She makes an ugly face and says "What she can't pronounce it. Okay" Seriously Taquitos mexicanos?? Who can't pronounce that. And just in case you were wondering I speak fluent Spanish probably better than you!! Whatever....let that blow off...kinda. Then they bring out the food, it looks good. Tastes good too. There was 6 of us eating. I had the flautas...yummy yum yum. My husband had shrimp quesadilla. It was good as well. There was a bunch of other stuff we ordered fajitas, beef and chicken, steak burrito. Everything was really good. The closest to authentic Mexican I've had that close to canada!! After they brought our food my sisters fiance asked for a refill on his drink. The girl server gives him attitude and shrugs and grabs his drink. I don't know why the attitude, but I told my husband to speak to her only in spanish and when he did she stops him and says "I'm Mexican" OBVIOUSLY YOU'RE MEXICAN!!! and his reply was "so am I" and continued to talk in Spanish. Most Mexicans enjoy speaking their native language with other natives, apparently not her. Then later on she's cleaning a table behind us and we hear her whining "Ughhh...I hate change." So.....we left her a huge pile of change for a tip. :) I'm used to tipping quite fat in Vegas so I think I left a way bigger tip than she deserved so she probably liked it. I tried looking up the owners online so I could write a letter to them detailling my experience.
