    Enchiladas de Mole
    Julian S.

I pass this restaurant relatively often and have been nervous to try. Will it be authentic? Will it be worth the money? Is it just another "Mexican restaurant with microwaved cuisine? The usual questions, I suppose. I can answer "Yes" to the first two questions. I ordered the Enchiladas de Mole and a Chicharron Taco. I was wildly impressed. The restaurant was not packed but it seemed to be occupied by the locals. The mole was probably some of the best I have had in a long, long time--which says a lot, since I have had some really outstanding mole. The taco was fresh, and I definitely could've ordered more than 1. My critiques would center the chips that come to the table. The first round weren't as fresh as the second. Also, the portion was pretty mediocre. That being said: the salsas that accompanied the chips were impressive. They will bring you more chips if requested, but I will have to assume they only provide you with 10 because they are made fresh and they don't want to waste--I get it, but still! The chicharron taco was documented as being crispy but mine was not. It might've been the same that reduced the crispiness, but I will argue that it was not likely crispy at any time. Please note: this did not take away from the flavor. I would, however, like the food to match the description. The service was great. The waitress was attentive, pleasant, and patient. She made good suggestions and stood behind the quality of the food.

    Al pastor and bistek

The 1 and 2 stars reviews are very inaccurate in my opinion. We both enjoyed our light lunch here the other day, so much so that we will return again for lunch or dinner. We sampled the complimentary chips, homemade blue and yellow corn that were topped with very good refried beans and some queso. These were served with red and green salsas, both good but be careful with the green, a tad bit spicy. Next up were the super nachos, same chips but with more cheese, tomato, jalapeño and freshly gridled diced chicken. These were nacho Americanized nachos, ingredients were judiciously applied and chips remained crunchy throughout. Our side order of fresh guac went perfectly with them, and was delicious in taste and cost ($3.50) Next up were 2 tacos, al pastor and bistek. These can be Americanized but why would you, mine were topped with modest onion and cilantro. Both of the meats were nicely seasoned, copious and completely tender. I would gladly order either again, but if forced to pick would choose the al pastor with its spicier flavor. With a few other interesting taco choices, not to mention other menu items, more visits are forthcoming. The reviewers who mentioned service as being cold were not far off. But I agree with those who have cited a slight language barrier as the probable cause. And certainly nothing to detract from your enjoyment of the food here. Skip the chain restaurants who try to approximate Mexican cuisine, and give El Tequila a try, and don't forget to bring your own Tequila or cerveza.

Yelper's have failed me again when it comes to jersey dining. Stopped by to grab some takeout to see if they are deserving of the high rating. As you can see from my rating, it does not. I ordered the cactus salad and the chicken chimichanga. Both were nothing to rave about. I would have been better off at Panchero's. I did not like the cactus salad at all. The cactus pieces were way too large and the dressing just tasted like oil and vinegar. I took a bite and threw it out. The chimichanga's were alright. Anything fried and drowned in cheese can be good. The rice was bland and the pico was too salty.

This spot was phenomenal !!!!! We enjoyed the pork and chorizo tacos and the meat was to die for !!! I was blown away by the pork and I really enjoyed the limes on the side for the extra fresh burst of flavor. The guac and chips was so fresh they even left the avocado pit in the dip! Our take out was safely prepared to order and quickly finished. I also enjoyed the chicken fajitas. The rice was super yummy and I will definitely be ordering again !

Off the beaten path spot, but great food! Authentic ambiance, including Spanish music, Mexican decor, and Mexican soda! Service was quick and friendly. Ordered enchiladas and they were delicious! Prices were reasonable. Definitely recommend giving this place a try.

    Tres Amigos enchiladas. Super delicious!

Excellent Mexican food! Reminds me of home! I had a sample of four of the tacos: Al Pastor (excellent, with little bits of pineapple), Chorizo (very savory, not spicy), Carnitas (yum!) and Chicharrones (very good) My wife had the Tres Amigos enchiladas, which were excellent! The red beef enchilada has just the right amount of kick. The green chicken enchilada was tangy, and the cheese enchilada was a nice complement to the other two. The ultimate test of a Mexican place to me is the rice, and this place passed with flying colors. The rice is light and not at all crunchy, and reminiscent of my mom's cooking (but not as good). My daughter ordered the mole enchiladas, and was disappointed that they were too sweet. In my experience, mole is usually sweet, which is why I don't care for it. I will make sure to come back here any time I am in the area, especially since the prices are very reasonable. Much better value than Chipotle or Moe's for superior food!

Awesome BYOB Mexican restaurant! The service was terrific. The food was great, big portions and reasonable prices. Ordered the vegetable quesadilla, beef tacos, cactus salad and shrimp fajitas! Delicious! They had no dessert to offer this time but that's just incentive to go back!

Tacos does not come with any kinds of salsa like other Mexican places. Also becareful of their taco Tuesdays and the (+2.99 Platter) it's just an add on for beans and rice and a salad that they don't specify. I tried to get a refund for the platter because I didn't know and to just keep the tacos but they apparently can't do it cause it's "paid online". You might as well don't get scammed like me and order the lunch version on their menu since it's a cheaper version of the "platter +2.99" without the extra charge. They also do not answer their phone often so that should've kind of been my red flag for this place. Service was not the best and had not only me but a lot of other people waiting for a long time to get their food. I genuinely love Mexican food places so it saddens me that I had to write this review cause it was that bad.

We walked in and sat ourselves. The server came over with the menu and we decided to share the mixto fajitas. The server came and brought some complimentary chips and some beans with cheese on top. Very small serving but enjoyed the "starter". She then brought out our mixto fajitas with 3 homemade tortillas. They were a little thicker and puffier than regular tortillas. They were very good! We wished we had gotten one more so we could each have two. The amount of meat and veggies was perfect. Much more shrimp than I had anticipated. The shrimp were big, butterflied and flavorful. I can imagine other dishes on the menu being very good. The decor was festive. There is a TV that is blaring which was a little distracting. They have a few cases with drinks and some desserts and Mexican snacks. We would definitely go back.

This came with neither, and I had to pay $1.50 more for a small cup of pico de gallo, which tasted like it had no jalapeños in it. I had to put a lot of salt on all of the food. I don't generally add salt to my food at restaurants. I don't generally need to. Especially Mexican restaurants. The beef was good. I never had cheese melted onto my fajitas either. I think it was Oaxaca cheese, but I'm not sure. There was no cheese on the side, which I'm used to. While the meat and peppers and onions had a decent flavor after adding a lot of salt, the guacamole was just a pile of green mush. (I thought it had tomatoes and jalapeños in it, but this did not.) the refried beans were just tasteless paste. Very thin. The salsa that came with the chips in the beginning of the meal had virtually no heat, and didn't taste anything like tomatoes or red peppers, but was red. Vegetarian burrito: just disappointing. The rice and beans were stuffed inside, nothing served on the side. We are of the opinion that the food items were made fairly fresh with fresh product, but just simply had no flavor. I am usually concerned about high heat in Mexican food. No heat here. None at all. Boring AF. I recently spent a few years in Arizona, and my problem with most Mexican restaurants is that they are Americanized. Not this one. Just boring AF. And yes, worth saying that again. The TV was blaring some television show. Too loud. Service was so-so. So, we leave and decide to sit on the edge of the parking lot, retaining wall. Right by the Shell gas station. Out of all of my visits, my favorite is the weekend brunch menu. On my last trip I wound getting a chicken brie apples bacon on brioche bread. It was a special of the day.
