Went here for Cinco de Mayo tonight and surprisingly there was no wait despite it being filled up! Our waiter Luis was awesome and super efficient, and the food was delicious. Pretty disappointing! This was almost the first time I took an entire order back and asked them to bring the cook and expeditor out to review the order for accuracy and to taste the slop they pushed out the kitchen yesterday. My order said it would be ready starting between 12:35pm and 12:45pm. I was there at 12:32pm, I walked in to pick up the order, there are a few booths with people but it's not slammed. I was told to go over to another area, so I walked over to a register area, no signs denoting "To-Go or "Order Pickup" or I would have gone straight there instead of waiting at the hostess stand wondering where to pick up from? A man after a minute or two came over asked me if I was picking up or placing an order. I advised my name for pickup and he said not ready I said no problem, I happily went to the bar to wait and was going to order a drink, so I thought. No one going in and out of the bar making drinks area greeted me or asked me if I wanted anything. So after the 3rd person back there who finally got close enough with the drink they were making, I asked if they did anything to go, as it had been 10 min already and I figured the food would be close to being done, the answer was no, she was at least polite. After about 10 minutes 2 orders came out, not mine still fine, I waited a few more minutes and mine came out and was put on the bar next to me. I ordered steak nachos with everything but jalapeños, the los flautas beef with beans and the el tequila dip with chorizo. The real bummer of the show was the stale not even close to crispy chips that came with the el tequila chorizo dip. I'm fairly certain that either you use the same ladle for the ground beef and chorizo or think your patrons wouldn't know the difference if you're mixing them or just messing up orders as I clearly tasted both meats. These chips I should have guessed would be a theme in my nachos. My steak nachos were just pathetic, floppy, sloppy, lukewarm warm and had 8 total (yes I took a picture) completely soaked chips at the bottom of some cheese sauce, with a pile of meat in the middle, some seriously sub par execution and guess what included a wet sloppy pile of jalapeños. The los flautas were beef (so that was right), which were sloppily put together lacking flavor, not crispy and I was given rice instead of the beans I ordered. Which I checked my order before submitting it that it was correct, I checked the name and receipt that it said what I ordered I was picking up when it was handed to me. I guess I should have opened the order and triple checked their work to ensure I was getting what I paid for. The amount of time it took me to get my order from their hands to my house was under 5 minutes. I'm of the opinion the food had sat for a while which is bad or this is the quality and execution they offer on the regular which is way worse, either way there's no reason for me to return here read more

What I love about El Tequila is that you can get lunch prices every day and you can make your own combo. I don't like rice and like being able to get something in place of rice. I got chili relleno, chicken tostada, and refried beans. Dan got the same except he got a chicken Verde enchilada instead of a tostada. We both agree they use good quality chicken. We also agree that they need to do a better job seeding the poblano betters. We frequently find seeds at the very top of a chili relleno, but today we found seeds midway down. (See photo.). The chips are thick. I prefer thinner chips, but these were okay. They don't have draft beer, but a bottle of domestic costs $3 and they bring a frosted glass. The service was good. It's been a while since I've ordered so this was a treat. Everything was in the bag. I ordered the El Tequila steak. It was enough for 2 meals. The meat was so tender, best rice I've ever had. I usually never eat the rice at a Mexican restaurant. I had cheese sauce on mine. Grilled vegetables, shrimp and shredded chicken were great. Haven't been here in a while so we decided to pop in for lunch. Prompt and friendly greeting and was taken to a nice booth where the host then took our drink order. Our server quickly brought our drinks and asked if we wanted queso or a guacamole. Instead I ordered the Ceviche and it was so good. I ordered their lunch Carnitas while she had the Steak Mexicana. My carnitas were awesome. Very tender and full of flavor and a good portion for a lunch serving. Her steak was topped with grilled onions, mushrooms and cheese and was very good as well. Not sure why we haven't been here in so long because I will definitely come back soon. Oh and also saw a 1 star review that was given yesterday about bad service and rude staff. Make sure you check your bank statement. Mysterious double charge for two different amounts. They blamed everyone else(my bank and their bank) besides themselves. It was two separate charges not add on after the tip. My bank has contacted them and they have yet to respond. Good food though just make sure they don't steal from you. Update: This is the response I received from the manager. He continues to say it's not their fault. I contacted my credit card company and they have quite a different story. My wife and her friend got Quesadillas which were also sub-par at best... Needless to say, there are many other great Mexican restaurant around Tulsa that are MUCH MUCH MUCH better. Was in with a friend the other day. Encountered the same POOR service I received several years ago and thus was the reason I haven't been back since. We were sitting at the bar, next to the register. We were in need of napkins, When I raised my hand at a waitress walking by(we hadn't seen the bartender in awhile) she just looked at me and continued on. Then I turned at the register to see several staff right there trying to get someone's attention. They looked straight at me and were arguing who would come check on us. We used to LOVE this place. Food is cheap, decent, and fast. Visited again tonight and was very disappointed. Virtually no precautions in place for covid!!!! No mask requirement, no hand sanitizers, and best of all! They aren't sanitizing the tables/benches and menus! We got seated at a dirty table and asked for another or a way to clean it. Nothing. Opened up our menus to see dirty pages- mine was even covered in food! We were given new ones and the old dirty menus were put in the stack of "clean" ones. None of the tables and booths are spaced out to the mandated 6' and they're squeezing as many people into that restaurant as possible. Really really icky. If you're OK with taking your chances I still wouldn't stop by. The food didn't take long- maybe only 20 minutes but it was cold. Really sad to lose a favorite. read more

As much as I love going to places like Los Cabos in Jenks for a higher-end hangout atmosphere with friends, I love El Tequila for TASTE! Pros - Their white queso is the BEST! You can't find better elsewhere in the area...and if you do, please let me know because nothing beats theirs! - Classic Mexican food with great taste; traditional salsa, rice, beans, homemade tortillas, non-limey guacamole (the only way to go!), and medium crunchy chips (not too thick, not too thin). It's exactly what you would expect and nothing "fancy" or off the wall like places that try to create non-traditional Mexican meals to be special. - PLUS they have other entrees that are amazing. I like to get the El Guapo which is grilled chicken with grilled pineapple and cheese/spinach sauce on top. SO GOOD! - They offer a large variety of margaritas plus mojitos, wine, and more! - Ample parking - Reasonable prices (average entree is $8!) This place has good prices but the food is mediocre, at best. The food seems to match the prices, cheap. Not a lot of flavor and my order was wrong... I asked for a chicken taco without tomatoes and I was served a ground beef taco with tomatoes. Messing up the order was not a big deal but it certainly does not help, especially when their food is not great. Also, they do not have any beer on tap. Overall, the only reason this place isn't getting lower than 3 stars is because the prices are low (at least for lunch). If you want really good Mexican food stay away, but if you're wanting a place to eat chips & salsa and not spend a lot of money then this might be good for you. If you really do want cheap and tasty you might want to cook yourself some fajitas at home or go to a food truck instead. read more
