Sometimes you stumble upon places based on sheer starvation and not wanting to take another step. That was me today. Given all of the places I have bookmarked on Yelp I normally wouldn't just wander into the unknown but when you've been shopping and sight seeing until your feet can't go anymore, you'll end up like me just choosing the first place that looks good. This burger joint was inviting, was able to be seated right away, and staff were quick. The pros about this place are that staff are very friendly and on top of service. Was nice to dine quickly despite how busy this area can get during tourist season. As far as the restaurants theme it was a little funny the Hawaiian vibe and name. I didn't really see it aside from the decor, putting pineapple on a burger doesn't make a restaurant Hawaiian but I'll give them points for being creative with a theme that you normally wouldn't see in the UK. Once I got over the menu being more traditional fare and less "Hawaiian" it was easy to go with the traditional cheeseburger. The burger was slightly above average in terms of flavor (patty needed more seasoning) BUT I was impressed with the grilled onions and how fresh the lettuce and tomato looked. Plus I'm a sucker for Mayo and they put Mayo as a primary ingredient so I was happy. I'd say service and pricing were 5 stars and food a solid 3.5 If you want a easy and casual meal that won't break the bank this spot totally works.

Since the two closest locations to me are both at least a five hour flight away, I had figured maybe I wasn't going to see one anytime soon. When I was recently in London it dawned on me that there was a location there. Bingo! A Trader Vic's experience had been obtained. Maybe I should have got a Mai Tai since that's what they're famous for. Instead I got a Bahia, and it was pleasant and refreshing. Not the best tiki drink I've had but not the worst either. I also got the veggie spring rolls, which were alright. The decor was obviously up to standards, but honestly the whole restaurant felt very corporate. I'm not sure what else I should have expected, since they're a very well known chain with spots all over the world. It just lacked the soul that most other tiki bars seem to have. Also I had a lot of sticker shock when it came to the price, because the cheapest and weakest drinks are still £12/$15.50, so having more than one or two might break your bank. This was an okay experience. I'm still curious if the other locations bear any similarities to this one, so in the future when I get the chance I'll compare those as well. At the very least you'll get a tasty drink in a silly mug.

Young waitress lacked manners, just dumping food in front of me, not informing me the plate was v hot etc but the older man was very nice and helpful. Food was tasty, not what I expected as salmon and eggs where mixed and cooked together, kind of thrown on a plate. Sightly overpriced for what you get to be honest. Coming at a quieter time and getting service with a smile would probably have increased my rating

Because of an office move, I recently started exploring SW19 in search for good lunch spots. Quickly I came across Aston & Magill, a friendly and very relaxed coffee shop in Wimbledon. Unfortunately walking there takes me about 20 minutes, and in combination with somewhat slowish service, it is difficult to fit a trip down to Aston & Magill into my lunch break. However, every time I go there, it is definitely worth the effort, and who would mind to walk 40 minutes on a sunny day? The place looks beautiful and simple - it does not try to be something it is not, it's just a lovely neighbourhood coffee with high-quality food and pretty good coffee. Once I had a chicken and bacon sandwich, that tasted as delicious as it sounds. Another time I had the pasta with tomato and bacon sauce, also a very tasty dish. When you are lucky, you can even get the single table outside in the afternoon sun. While I do not like the metal table and chair - the wooden furniture inside is much nicer - having lunch in the sun is too good to be put off by a table and a chair. Aston & Magill is definitely one of those places that I just liked as soon as I walked in. Staff are friendly and funny, and the quality of the food is great. They could be a bit quicker though. At my first visit, I've also noticed that I probably need to get used to hanging out outside of central London - while I was sitting outside, a girl, most likely an arts student, dropped some drawings on the empty chair at my table outside and asked me if I could watch her stuff for a few minutes. Later she came back, picked her drawings up and walked away. Fascinating that people in Wimbledon seem to trust complete strangers on the street - most likely a good sign that speaks for this neighbourhood.
