He provided us the local asian newspaper and even when we left offered to help us with instructions to get to places to we wanted to visit. I just got the steaming Arroz Caldo (chicken & rice porridge) as it felt right for that night's chilly weather. The group ordered comfort food like Inihaw na Liempo (grilled pork belly), Inihaw na Manok (barbecue chicken), Sinigang Na Sugpo (prawn in sour broth), Lechon Kawali (deep-fried pork belly) and Sizzling Sisig (tasted and smelled like the ones in Manila during the 80's). We ordered ginger tea which was made with real ginger (if you like ginger beer then this is the drink for you). Crispy pata is a must and it was good. It was leaner which was also different in a good way. Aubergine bistec was very delicious and my wife commented that she has never tasted anything like it before (she enjoyed it very much). As a treat we met with Chef Rommel and his wife Claudine. They are both very personable.
