The food is four stars. The service and table layout is two stars. I like the sizzling tofu and sizzling squid. But neither of them were actually sizzling. I was expecting a loud head turning show stopper of a dish to appear at my table. Maybe because it was squid and tofu they had to turn down the sizzle factor to retain the right texture. Because chicken dishes were sizzling properly. Matt G - why don't you write a doctoral thesis on Filipino culinary sizzling in the 21th century while you're at it. The squid had a good texture and made of chopped up squid parts rather than just the white rings. The sauce to ingredient ratio was good. They use a lot of carrots. It comes with rice, so you save a £ or so compared to ordering one of the dishes that isn't part of the "rice deal". The food was quite salty. A main course price for 8-9 £ is a really good deal. And it was actually very tasty. The dining space is very small even if it's on two floors and they really have tried to maximise revenue by cramming in as many tables as possible. Some tables you literally have to get out of your chair so that the table next to you can get in. Tables are a bit too close for comfort and thus I was forced to listen to a random elderly couple trying to communicate to each other in three different languages. When we first entered the place was so smokey and everyone was coughing. I picture a very small kitchen that can't handle the volume of cooking. I don't mind warm room temperature, but here it was almost humid like the deep jungles of the Philippines. Servers never came to check up on us or refill water or offer dessert menu. I would have wanted the Halo halo dessert, which is one of my all time favourites and hard to find in the UK, but I was just fed up with the slow service towards the end.

Food was whatever but this was the literal worst service ever. The woman got our orders wrong and when we told her, she got pissed at us and then just didn't serve us the rest of the time. No water the whole time we were there, nothing. Absolutely don't recommend this place until they get new servers. Horrible waitress.

What a gem in Earl's Court area of London. I have never tried Filipino cuisine before, and am in awe. The drawback is the dishes were a bit cold (sitting in the kitchen for too long?). It's a small eatery so don't expect nice decors or super clean condition. Food is unique though. Generally welcoming family ambiance. Nonetheless, the seafood platter (as well as the pork / chicken) platter are really impressive. Complete with a pot of soup.

What a find. Sisig? Lechon kawali? Get outta here! This is a family joint for family patrons. If you're unfamiliar with Filpino cuisine it would be most helpful to get a clue before visiting. Stick with fried pork, garlic rice, more pork, some squid, maybe a little soup or noodles to tie things off. Oh, and don't forget the halo halo. Guests have a choice of buffet or a la carte. Either way you win.

I have been craving some Filipino food for awhile now, so before I headed to London this past weekend, I took a look at recommendations for Filipino restaurants. They are few and far between if you don't live in California... or the Philippines, so I knew it was slim pickins. I saw reviews for this restaurant, but also got some recommendations from some pinoys working at the Royal National. I wasn't sure what to expect because I know that Filipino cuisine is different from region to region and it isn't meant to be gourmet, it is meant to be comfort food. It is really easy to find (take the Earl's Court Road exit when leaving the tube station). In fact you'll notice that there is a Filipino food store across the street and another Filipino restaurant right next to this one. When I walked in I was greeted by the smells of familiar dishes and people speaking Tagalog. While the All You Can Eat Buffet for £8.00 was a very tempting offer (they have a list of what is on the buffet to help you decide), sinigang was not on the buffet, so I asked for a menu. The menu had a lot of things that I wanted to order, in fact I almost strayed from my mission because they had just about everything my mom makes for me! If you are not familiar with Filipino food, sinigang is a tamarind based soup. It is sour in taste and depending on who is making it, it could be made less sour or more sour. In the soup itself is usually some kind of meat (pork, beef, fish, shrimp, etc.) and a variety of vegetables. The veggies also differ based on preferences... Sinigang is usually eaten with rice... well just about every Filipino dish is eaten with rice. I ordered the pork soup (they do have it with fish and beef, can't remember if they have it with shrimp) and if you want rice, you will have to order it extra as it does not come with it. The soup came in a fairly big bowl and with a nice sized scoop of rice on a plate. There was a bit of the rice that was a little soggy, but the rest of it was good. The soup itself had okra, eggplant, tomato, onion, daikon, and a few leaves of spinach. They also used pork belly in the soup. I am not a fan of okra so would've preferred some other green vegetable (or even more spinach), but enjoyed all the other bits. The soup itself was just the right amount of sour and salty for me, which made the order a great success. It was definitely a very filling meal which sadly means that I did not try any of the desserts =(. My meal was just over £9.00 and I thought it was well worth it. If you haven't tried Filipino food, stop in and try it!

Everywhere I go, I make it a point to dine in a Filipino restaurant so i could review them in my carinderia.net site, a Filipino cuisine page. This restaurant is as authentic as it could be. The best tortang talong (eggplant omelet) this side of the Atlantic. It is not to be missed.

For the more leisurely visit, start with sea bream ceviche or go the vegan route Vegetable Lumpia (has nuts). As it was lunch for me, I began with an Ube Latte to drink which was tasty, but you could go for weeks trying various teas: Lemon Verbena, Turmeric Chai, Paradise Punch. And that's only a launching point to the World Beers and Handcrafted Cocktails portion of the menu. The more adventurous will try Batangas Bad Boy (10 year Talisker) or Boracay Dreams (rum, Malibu, coconut cream). But I needed to have a productive second-half of the day, so next time for those. On to the main course. I normally would be all over the "all-time favorite" Pork Hock, but as it was later in the travel week I opted for sea bass. It was a solid choice. The pandan leaf wrap locked in the moisture and flavor, and the soy lime dressing was definitely not for the faint of spicy-heart without adding rice. The noodles looked excellent at the table nearby, picking between chicken, shrimp, vegan, even sardines. Since I needed to be awake for some meetings, dessert wasn't an option this time, but the Banana Turon fritters would fit the bill nicely. Service was friendly and prompt, while still allowing time to dwell and savor. I'll schedule a return on a Friday to enjoy tapas "journey of Filipino flavours".

My friends ordered the Crispy Pata, Sea Bass, and Spring Chicken Adobo. Now, being the herbivore of the group I ordered the roasted butternut squash relleno - a healthy vegan masterpiece. As far as libations, , I sipped on the tropical delight of the pina colada mocktail, Clei strutted his stuff with the exquisite Ube Martini, Jorge went for a classic beer, and Jerry enjoyed a glass of wine. To wrap up our flavor-filled escapade, we shared the calamarsi lime tart, and Maja Blanca. I didn't care for the Maja Blanca, but the calamansi tart was delish. Service was good, and the vibe was fabulous. Overall, I give it 5 stars.

This Filipino restaurant is lacking of flavour. From the normal Filipino food In Philippines…read more I ordered Milk fish (Bangus) £10+ that's is soak with vinegar and garlic for few hours before you fried them and black pudding stew common to Filipino as Dinuguan £10+. The stew is flavourless or lacking of flavour. For the price of the fish should be deboned already. Trying to removed a lot of fish bone and it's a turn off that I'm a bit afraid to choke with the fish bones. Ambiance of the restaurant: wine glass and white table cloths on the table that they trying to make an upperclass restaurant. But the end of the day. The food quality is more important. Should consider the quality of food before everything else

Hubby and I visited this restaurant after visiting the British Museum nearby. We even got to see…read morethe FSU London campus on the walk over from the museum :). Tucked away on Charlotte, this family restaurant offers authentic Filipino food to central London since 1996. Coming from Atlanta where there is no Filipino restaurants (fusion and food court stalls do not count!), we always take the opportunity to eat filipino food if it is available in the city we are visiting. Any restaurant is better than none at all! We visited at a weird time so it was relatively quiet. Therefore I got to sit at the table by the window and service felt very special/ private. It was like we had rented the whole restaurant to ourselves. The waiter (son of the restaurant) spent the whole time catering to us -salamat po! He was extremely kind and knowledgeable. He provided much care and attention from the beginning to the end of our visit here. He provided us the local asian newspaper and even when we left offered to help us with instructions to get to places to we wanted to visit. I believe mother was cooking in the kitchen (I saw her once at the beginning) and dad was cleaning the pictures/looking for something to do. Next time I am going to ask him to join us to eat and chat! lol. As I was mentioning before that whenever we get a chance to eat filipino food, that means ordering ever possible dish we can fit into our two bellies lol. Here is what we ordered: *Keep in mind I know that this place cannot compare to food from the Philippines but its freaking good to someone who lives where there is not 1 Filipino restaurant! 1. Red horse - My husbands necessity- no happy horse ^-^ 2. Lechon- Fresh, hot, and crispy. So good! We had leftovers and I packed them up as a snack for my husband later during the day. So many people later on asked me what delicious food I had hidden in my bag and I told them Lechon from here :). Huge portion. 3. Chicken Adobo- Rich sauce and refreshing soft chicken. Just what we needed to gain some energy back as a tourists who were walking.....A LOT! 4. Pork Sisig - I was surprised to find this bar/street food here, but I am glad they have it! OMG TO DIE FOR! Deep, bold flavor and texture. Spicy and savory. 5. Halo Halo - A must... period... end of discussion! Get it! Everything was delicious. And yes, we ate all of it in one sitting except for some of the Lechon. Not bad between 2 people :). I highly recommend!
