The meat at this place is so good!! They have it all, salsas are amazing, grilled chilies, and aguas Frescas I usually order an array of tacos- my fave lengua, suadero, asada The guys are super nice, and attentive, the line is long for a reason. Sometimes with street tacos the meat is too salty for my taste- I feel like this place is perfectly balanced. They have huge burritos as well. Recommend a thousand times over!

Looks good can't wait to try it

tl;dr: this place is packed right from the bat for a great reason. $2 a taco, can't beat their value of their vast offerings. Right off the 5 on Slauson, easy to find (look at me pix), this place is legit. Great portion, no skimping. If you get the quesadilla, you'll know what I'm talking about. I got here before opening so they didn't have all the meats cooked yet :( I got what I could've. Asada: nice char sear, thinly sliced and diced, easy to bite. Not heavy on the marinade or excessively salty. Pretty decent Pastor: good meaty bite, not greasy. Light on marinade: not sweet nor acidic, light salt. Wasn't roasted hard. Decent Tripas: washed/treated well. No gamey smell and tastes clean. They were barely just searing it on the flat top since I got there early, so it kinda just tasted boiled lol. That's my fault. It has a lot of potential, I would definitely have it extra seared. Suadero: great balance of fatty and meaty bites, seasoning is on point. It has that vat-braised taste without feeling "greasy" with the right amount of salt. Excellent with salsa verde and marinaded onion/habanero. Their green salsa is simply done nicely; sour and livening, I love its balance. The red salsa can do more flavors but does have its spicy kick. Guacamole salsa shares an excellent juggle of tomatillo and avocado for sure, not one overpowering the other. I'd recommend combining red and guacamole salsa for and roasted meats for sure and just green salsa for any stewed proteins.

This are beat tacos ever! My husband found this taco stand and we had to stop. My daughters and myself loved the taste of the meat so fresh. They also have drinks and play good music. Good costumer service

My personal favorite is their burrito, pretty much with any meat. They do a great job balancing and rolling it so that you get a good mix of everything in each bite, which makes a big difference. Family favorites also include their carne asada tacos, tacos in general, their nachos, and the tortas de milanesa. That said, the food can be a little hit and miss at times depending on how it's prepared and served. For me, the one thing I usually skip here is the al pastor. It tends to be a little too soupy for my taste, and in my experience it does not have that fresh off-the-trompo texture and flavor that I prefer. As for service, it really depends on who you get. It can be hit and miss, but for the most part the staff is not rude and things usually move along fine. Ambiance is pretty minimal in my experience, mainly because I usually take the food to go, so I'm not really coming here for the dine-in atmosphere. Pricing is decent, the food is generally satisfying, and this is still a spot that has earned its place as a family favorite over the years. Not perfect every single time, but definitely a place we've enjoyed and will keep coming back to.

Looking up 'Best carnitas in LA', and there's a good chance that 'Carnitas El Momo' will pop up in your search results list. Starting as a food truck in Boyle Heights in 2015 (which is still open), this brick-n-mortar location with indoor dining in Monterey Park opened in 2022. It ended up being a bit longer walk than I anticipated coming from the East LA Civic Center Metro station, so my brother and I were drenched in sweat on this 90+ degree day. We walked into the air conditioned uncrowded building, and were friendlily greeted, and offered a simple taco of pork burnt ends. It was good and gave us a taste of what the rest of the meal would be like. Between the two of us, we ordered a sample of each taco ($4), stuffed in a decent tortilla. The meats are available are buche (pork stomach), cueritos (pork skin), maciza (pork shoulder), and migajas (burnt ends). We also got the Mix (all the meats aptly named aPORKalypse) and also a mulitas ($12 for all the meats except stomach). Everything was ordered con todo, which meant a lot of cilantro and pickled white onion with lime wedges. I also got a large horchata ($6). There is self-serve water available near the simple salsa bar (choice of a hot green sauce, and even hotter red sauce and hot pickled peppers). All the meat is cooked in lard low and slow and seasoned according to the patriarch's (aka Momo) original receipt from Salamanca, Mexico. The slow simmering definitely was noticeable and we enjoyed the flavors. My favorite was definitely the Mix, with a nice blend of texture. I think have a crunch factor (like chicharron) would have added even more texture, but I understand that would not be authentic. Also I noted that they call buche here pork belly, which is a very different pork belly than in Far East Asian cuisine. I like buche though in moderation, and this version was very good, especially mixed with pork muscle cuts. Pork skin by itself in a taco is too much for me. I would definitely get the mulitas again, replacing the pork skin with buche, and putting on it a milder sauce than the hot ones offered...definitely need a lot of acidity to cut through the very fatty meal.

I ordered a wet burrito and specifically requested no beans, but to add cilantro and onion. While I was placing my order, I felt like the cashier was rushing me, and I don't think my request was heard correctly. The burrito came out with beans, which is the one thing I had asked to leave off. When I brought it back, I was told my ticket said "plain." I explained that I had only asked for no beans and wanted everything else, including cilantro and onion. They remade it, and this time the cilantro and onion were added, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food itself was still very disappointing. The burrito had almost no flavor, no salsa inside, and the wet sauce tasted more like spaghetti sauce than a traditional enchilada or wet burrito sauce. It wasn't what I expected at all. At nearly $15 for one burrito, I expected much better quality and a better overall experience. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I hope this feedback helps because there is definitely room for improvement in both customer service and the food.
