More from a foody lemosine driver. If I ever was stranded in Mexico, and had nothing but Mexican food for months I would love it! Always searching exploring new places to eat while my clients are at dinner or wine tasting, tonight they are at Single Tread In Healdsburg, 4 hours of foraging around. This place was in an older shopping center in downtown Healdsburg (hole in the wall' only a little English spoken here, I liked the booths and older Mexican decor and artwork, plus the Mexican music, feeling like I'm in Mexico except the fish tacos were talipia or maybe catfish' they just had that fresh water pond flavor. I am spoiled I visit Mexico each year (Baja sir) fresh fresh seafood tocos there! But the shrimp toco was great lots of shrimp! The service was very friendly and I love the real Mexican atmosphere. I will check out some of the other Taqueria's In Healdsburg before I come back to this one just to compare.

    Extensive menu!

This is where the locals eat! Great service and food! I only had the grilled chicken soft tacos (two days in a row); however, on both visits I saw men enjoying the Caldo 7 Mares (7 variety seafood soup). It looked amazing, the portion was generous, and they all took some home! Check this place out!

Delicious and affordable tacos in Healdsburg! The "super taco" was a ridiculous amount of food snd more like an open faced quesadilla. I hate the carne asasa, Pollo azado and chorizo tacos. The carne asada was the winner but there were no losers!

It's good. Not amazing but good. Would come back. Super burrito was $13 and good sized. Good flavor. Little better than I expected considering it's healdsburg. Staff was nice.

    Burrito Loco

Absolutely delicious!! So friendly and authentic! Best Mexican I've had in wine country! Burrito Loco!

On our way to an anniversary weekend up in Mendocino, Jamie W. and I stopped in the charming hamlet of Healdsburg to get a bite since the drive has a relatively barren stretch of dining options until you get to the coast. Instead of waiting in line at one of the popular places on the plaza, we found ourselves strolling over to that same strip mall where Flakey Cream Do-nuts is, but we ended up here for a budget-priced Mexican breakfast. We were hoping to find a nugget here, but it wasn't really all that special despite the reasonable prices. Jamie ordered the $8.99 Vegetarian Plate, which probably represented the best value on the menu. It was a robust platter consisting of whole beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, guacamole, steamed vegetables, and tortillas (photo: http://bit.ly/1VXeApz). Good square meal if lacking in some seasoning. I ordered a $4.50 Fish Taco, which was the best part of my meal since they had a good-size pair of fillets nestled on the tortilla with cilantro, lettuce, onions and salsa (photo: http://bit.ly/1VelBSc). The absolute disappointment, however, was the $10.99 bowl of the weekend-only Menudo. The broth was thin and almost soapy in flavor for some reason, while the tripe was chopped into smithereens and the bones were non-existent (photo: http://bit.ly/1MYwxg4). Desultory menudo was no way for me to start an idyllic weekend, but I tried to make up for it with some Cliff bars in the car since I didn't want to make too many unnecessary restroom stops. TMI? Sorry. Anyhow, I'm afraid there wasn't much that was memorable about our stop at El Taco Grande, but maybe if I stuck with something more predictably fool-proof like a Burrito Loco, I would have been fine. FOOD - 3 stars...middling Mexican with a mediocre menudo AMBIANCE - 2.5 stars...lots of formica, not much character SERVICE - 3 stars...serviceable, nothing more TOTAL - 3 stars...plenty of other places to try in Healdsburg

    Shrimp Quesadilla

We were in need of a quick meal with limited brunch options in town. We happened upon El Taco Grande and we were pleasantly surprised by the food. I got the Shrimp quesadilla and it was loaded with fresh huge shrimp. Delicious! Definitely not a fancy place, but it hit the bill.

The restaurant is located inside a hotel -- you walk through the front doors, past the lobby, and you're there -- but the signage isn't very obvious from the outside. Luckily, someone noticed us looking around and kindly came out to ask if we were looking for Arandas, which was super helpful and welcoming. We ordered a couple of drinks and two appetizers from the happy hour menu. The birria tacos came with consomé and were absolutely delicious -- tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The chips and cheese, on the other hand, weren't my favorite. The flavor was fine, but the cheese hardened quickly after cooling, which made it less of a dip and more of a sheet of melted cheese. My husband enjoyed it more than I did, but I personally prefer a more sauce-like queso for dipping. The service was excellent -- attentive without being overbearing -- and the overall atmosphere felt like an upscale Mexican restaurant with a warm, polished vibe. The happy hour drink prices were also fantastic, especially for Healdsburg. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu next time -- great spot for drinks, small bites, and friendly service in a stylish setting.

They have a great menu, with several dishes I don't usually see on a menu in the states. We were immediately seated and a server brought water and chips and salsa. We also ordered hibiscus juice (such a treat!), avocado salad, and spouse got a taco salad. Everything was truly excellent! Every ingredient in the salads was fresh and crisp. My avocado was perfectly ripe and creamy. The chicken strips in the salads were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The lime cilantro vinaigrette was light but flavorful. Just perfect! The service was great with two people stopping by regularly to refill water and see if we needed anything. They were friendly but not intrusive. This place by far exceeded our expectations. The food though was disappointing. The most interesting item was the clams that came in a cava broth with garlic and parsley. They brought some toasted hearty bread to soak up the sauce. The baby kale salad was also nice with shaved fennel and manchego. The other three dishes were both off and a bit weird. The cauliflower came with bacon, which was good, and sweet dates; the dates were an odd addition and they stuck to your teeth. The calamari, was prepared well - it wasn't chewy - but it just had an off flavor, or at least one I haven't experienced before. Same too for the octopus. This was a much larger portion than typical - two tentacles, plus potatoes and olives. The octopus though was rather mealy. Small Spanish red wine list; only four. Tried two and neither were our favorites. The 1970s-80s classic rock soundtrack was an odd choice for background music.
