We stayed in town for 3 days. 2 nights of this we chose Super Taco for supper. Between my wife and myself, we had the carnitas, nachos supreme, fish tacos, and machaca. That's just to say we had a pretty good example of their food, and it was all excellent every time. The guy at the cash register was friendly. The cook is talented and makes the food quickly. (Just to remark on cleanliness) I also noticed the cook on the second night, when we came in, he had the grill out from the wall scrubbing down the wall behind it. If I lived near Super Taco, I would be Super Fat super soon. read more

In town for one night. Based on reviews and hotel desk, tried El Super Taco. Got the beef taco plate and carnitas plate. Good food, reasonably priced, clean tables, fast and friendly service. All you can ask for. read more

Ordered this location multiple times off of DoorDash and great experience every single time the rolled tacos were kind of mad for me but the Asada fries that I get have great flavor. Good amount of steak that is seasoned perfectly and cooked just as well. The pico I can tell is fresh with great flavor my only downside is the guac is very liquidy and I think it's just avocados mix mixed with some sort of juice other than that, I would definitely recommend taking a look at this place read more

The food lacked flavor and the service was non-existent. Heard good things about this place but was not my experience.

Service is ALWAYS top notch and the food is ALWAYS AMAZING!!!! There's something for everyone on the menu!!!

All the way from texas. And these burritos are huge and fabulous ..the service was great ..thank you..the girls from texas. read more

Fantastic!! Fast, friendly, and totally delicious! Right next to Dunes motel which is also awesome. Alamosa was a great surprise!

Great service, food needs some work. Younger guys in there working were great. Very personable and friendly. My wife and in ordered the super steak burrito. There was so much sour cream in the burritos they turned into slop. Could taste anything but sour cream. Easy on the sour cream boys! Also ordered chicken quesadillas for one kid, and that was a greasy mess! Other kid had the carnitas torta. That was ok. read more

WOW FACTOR? Extensive and interesting menu. Horchata and drinks have one price despite the size. HAVE AGAIN: Machaca and horchata were very good. Friendly place. read more

We had lunch there and it was delicious. I had 2 fish tacos and my husband had a chicken taco plate. We both ate more than we should have. The food was delicious. My only complaint is that the clerk could not tell me how large the tacos were - she said "street taco size". That meant nothing to me. So, I ordered 2 while 1 would have sufficed. But she was willing to change a corn tortilla into a flour one for me. But my flour tortilla and my husband's corn tortilla had been grilled, so they didn't fall apart, as do many that are not grilled. It was a good experience and we'd go back if you visit Alamosa again. read more

This is a perfect divey taco shop with great food and nice service. The nachos were great. The ground beef tacos are the best! Carne adada fries were great. Chicken tacos are great. We also had their great tamales. We eat a lot of authentic Mexican food. This place is tops. read more

Great food and lovely service, hole in the wall. Loved the fresh hot food and it was awesome read more

Food took 20-25 minutes to come out but made sense as it was a little late on a Sunday. Food was pretty serviceable, about what you'd expect from a local taco place. Got 2 beef burritos and they were descent. The highlight was there were 3 salsa options. Nothing too spicy but the red ones both had some kick and added a lot to the meal. read more

Definitely 'no frills.' Nothing special about the area. I ordered the #7 - the beef burritos. It was hot and good. That's about the only good thing I can say about it. Service was eh. It is not a welcoming place to actually sit and eat there. It more like screams to take your food and get out. It is obvious that cleanliness is not their top concern, neither is the service. The only way to get ice was from the counter. read more

Food was very good and the people were nice. We ordered a grilled chicken burrito with guacamole and sour cream, along with 2 lengua tacos.

DO NOT EAT THERE! This place got myself and 3 of my friends incredibly sick with food poisoning. To the point where I was throwing up blood. They have no idea about proper food safety. Update: The health inspectors office stated that their excuse was and I quote, "They ran out of ice so they haven't been keeping their cold food cold". WTAF! This was pure negligence and they knowingly put me and my friends in danger. They should be fined, and shut down. At the very least everyone that works there should have to retake food safety courses. I am LIVID! read more

Came across this small family business. The food was exceptional! I ordered the carne asada platter and my hubs a carne asada (ranchero) burrito. The lady at the front taking orders was super sweet and accommodating. read more

This is probably the best Mexican Diner style restaurant that I've eaten at. I'm from Denver and there's a bunch of places here people rave about but I find the quality and flavor always a little disappointing. So I was nothing but shocked to find El Super taco representing the style so we'll in little Alamosa! My favorite dish which was absolutely delicious was the chili verde combo plate! It had everything! super tender and well marinated pork with guacamole, pico and a chili on the side. This was served with fresh corn tortillas with rice and beans. The second dish we ordered was the chili rellenos combo the rellenos were really tasty and done in a traditional no frills way just all flavor. If your in Alamosa and like Mexican food you need to try this spot first. read more

El Super Taco is a small, local restaurant with just terrific chile rellenos. I also ordered a tamale which had a perfect ratio of masa to filling. It's counter service. Nothing fancy but mighty darned tasty. read more

I'm glad we tried this spot. The staff were very nice and easy to make changes to ingredients with for my picky eater. The chips are some of the best we have had. Delicious fresh salsa bar. The mini tacos with carne asada were ok. The chicken is the shredded saucy style. The jumbo burrito is crazy big. I feel like they need to hype that up more because our jaw dropped when we pulled out this massive over 12 in burrito. That definitely justified the $20 it cost. I really hope they can get more than 1 menu and it needs prices. We had no idea how much anything was. We would eat here again. read more

The kid at the register was more concerned with talking to the girls hanging out at the counter than with taking any food orders. They have hand-written signs all over saying that "menu prices not updated" even though the menu is electronic. It seems like it would have been easier to just change the menu than hang up a bunch more signs about it. It seems to be just a way to arbitrarily decide how much your food will be. When you ask how much things are, the kid taking orders doesn't have a clue. Pretty great customer service. Also, have fun if you use the women's restroom. The toilet isn't secured to the ground. Food is ok. read more

Great authentic Mexican food! We were driving through town and wanted an authentic experience and we sure got it! Everything was wonderful!

After hiking the high dune trail and Sand Dune National Park we wanted a victory meal and quickly discovered that not many places are open late in the surrounding area. We made it to El Super Taco just in time before it closed. I had the chicken quesadilla which was a HUGE, greasy goodness. read more

Awesome food - great customer service. So glad we stopped by for a meal! I had the langue taco - soooo good!

This place was very bad and i would never go back. The amount of sketchiness that was there was unbelievable. I walked in and the lady who was working there was incredibly rude. My best friend got horrible food poisoning. Never try this place and be aware of your surroundings. I felt very uncomfortable and unsafe around this area. ***Never go here.*** read more

Good quality Mexican food at reasonable prices. Limited seating inside so most orders are to go. Full menu of tacos, burritos, tortas and other popular entrees. Some come as combo with beans and rice. Located in downtown. read more

After spending the day at the Great Sand Dunes NP and riding a few of the bike trails in Alamosa, we needed a place to grab some dinner and Yelp led us to El Super Taco. This restaurant's menu offers quite a lot, but I would categorize it as typical Mexican Diner entrees. We decided to order 2 plates: Chile Relleno and Chile Verde, both came with Rice and Beans. The Chile Relleno was smothered in a red chile sauce and topped with cheese. The two chiles were huge and stuffed with a lot of cheese... pretty tasty if you ask me! The Chile Verde had great flavor, each piece of meat was super juicy. The refried beans were decent, nothing special. My only critique would be that they need to cook the rice a little longer. The rice was a bit crunchy, but the flavor was there. read more

Order at the counter, no table service provided. Floor, tables, restrooms are usually dirty. Food quality is excellent! read more

It ain't fast. It ain't nice. It ain't even clean. But it's pretty great food. I don't mind the fast part. You wait for great food, so I'm good with that. But you've got to keep the tables clean. You have to clean the restrooms. Without paper towels in the restroom, I'm drying my my hands on my own clothes. C'mon, man. Y'all are better than that. The food is excellent, however. We tried the beef taco, carne asada taco, pork taco, and catfish burrito. All are very good and fresh, but if you dig on swine like I do, you can't go wrong with the pork. It's a flavor explosion for your taste buds. If I were you, I'd go with pork anything they offer. I don't care if it's a taco, burrito, or torta. But it's gonna be pork. Look, the place is five star based on food, but you've got to bring the full package. I'm not looking for fancy, but clean is a requirement. That said, I'd go back. read more

I love my fellow Yelpers, but I felt let down by the overall rating. This place was dirty (trash overflowed, rest of the place not looking very clean, down to even the dirty agua fresca dispensers), very hot (no a/c and the door propped open for air) and dingy (holes in the ceiling, makes you kind of wonder what's coming through). As for the food, we witnessed Chef Mic in full action...almost every single item the kitchen put out was being microwaved. My shredded beef burrito plate was nuked hot as can be, flavorless and full of soggy and watery green peppers and onion. My wife's tamale and enchilada looked slopped together and tasted on par with Casa Bonita. Even the rice and beans were bad, as was the greasy chips. I'm sure Alamosa has a good Mexican joint somewhere, but this wasn't it. read more

It's ok for a small town, after a big hike, but nothing I'd eat again. The cashier was nice, the service was fast, and the food is so cheap. You can feed two people with one meal too, it's a lot of food (a bit bland and lower quality though). It was messy inside and I was the only customer - chairs pulled out, tiny pieces of trash all over/around tables, plastic forks going all sorts of ways in the holder... read more
