I have been going to El Super Burrito since I was a teenager - which is more than a few decades now. If I were ever to move out of the Bay Area, I would truly miss El Super Burrito. But luckily, it is in my own backyard. Everything there is great! Right now I am really loving their quesabirria taco. Other favorites are the mar y tierra burrito, wet burrito, steak & avocado burrito, cheese enchiladas, super steak nachos. My first time trying this place. It looked promising because there was a little line. However, this little line took me over 22min before I could even order. I tried the combo plate that came with one (pork) tamale and one (shrimp) taco. The pork tamale had a sour taste and I wasn't sure if it was the sauce or because the meat was spoiled. Bleh! If you look at the restaurant from the curb you can see an insane amount of dust buildup on the front window! it is so disgusting that im surprised health department allows that to happen! El Super Burrito is located in one of the most peculiar-looking buildings.. The front facade is a huge triangle--maybe it was a former church or perhaps a defunct IHOP, but in any case, it's now a casual Mexican eatery with a simple menu of burritos, tacos, qusadillas, and more! Given the name of the place, my pick was the Mar y Tierra burrito, a huge flour tortilla wrapped around a filling of freshly grilled steak, shrimp, onions, tomato, and bell peppers, along with rice, shredded cheese, and avocado. The best part of the burrito was the huge, juicy prawns, but overall, the fillings tasted underseasoned, and even the salsa and pico de gallo on the side didn't add much in terms of flavor. In addition to the burrito, I also tried the ceviche tostada, composed of chopped prawns, tomato, onions, cilantro, and cucumber, and topped with avocado. The ceviche had a bright, acidic flavor but contained very little protein and was made up mostly of just onion and tomato. While the service was quick and the restaurant popular, this definitely wasn't the best Mexican food I've had in the area. During my first trip down to San Diego, I accomplished my number one foodie goal - carne asada fres. On trip number two? Phil's BBQ. For trip number three? A legit California burrito (with a side of carne asada fries!). And yes, I know there's probably better places for me to try next. But NO! I don't care! When I used to pass by El Super Burrito, I never gave them much of a thought. How good could a burrito joint really be in MillbrAsia? However, I decided to drop in once I heard they have California burritos and I have to admit, the menu is a lot more extensive than I expected. Still, given their name, burritos are clearly their game (ha!), so I (obviously) went with a CALIFORNIA BURRITO ($7.85). Given the choice of chicken or carne asada (it also comes with french fries, rice, beans, guacamole, and salsa), I opted for the latter as I normally do. I was impressed with how large the burrito was, but since I've yet to try a California burrito in San Diego, I can't say how the two compare. However, I thought the taste was just okay. I liked the seasoning the fries added but the carne asada wasn't anything special. Perhaps the fries negated some of the flavor, but the taste of the beef was faint. Considering how they're one of the few, if not the only, burrito place around Millbrae, El Super Burrito seems good enough if you are nearby and hankering for a burrito, Just don't come here if you're in a rush; there's typically a line at lunch and the staff isn't the swiftest. Otherwise, with modest expectations, things are fine. If you compare them to what you can in SF, San Jose, or Oakland though, El Super Burrito may not be that super, California burrito or not. read more

As in El Regular Burrito. I was not full from this. I've been here several times and I've had their burrito (duh), their beef enchiladas, and their beef taco. The burrito seems small to me, maybe because I'm comparing it the ones on Mission Street. Also, I'm not really liking the meat. I always get carne asada, and I really don't think the meat stand out here. They fry their own taco shells, so that's good, but I always find myself buying their guacamole to spruce it up. Their guacamole isn't that great by the way. More like Chipotle's guacamole. Which to me is not outstanding, just average. Delicious California Fries. Service is rude and nonexistent. It took them 20 minutes to make my California Fries and it wasn't that busy. But it was the fact that all of them kept avoiding eye contact with me. A simple update to let me know when my food would be done would've been nice. Even upon ordering my food, the cashier guy with glasses was pretty rude too. I even said thank you twice when I paid for my food and when my order was ready, but they gave me no response. It was pretty awkward. I was basically invisible to them lol. There were about 4 ladies total making the food and a male cashier working. This is more of a 3.5, but closer to 3 than a 4. Since the pandemic the restaurant is takeout only. The food here has decent portions and are made to order in front of you. The ingredients are fresh and there are a vast array of choices. The carnitas burrito here is good and I enjoy the nachos. I used to like this place better, but the restaurant was sold in the past few years, and the food isn't as good as it used to be. I know that we can't have a salsa bar during the pandemic, but there aren't many salsa options anymore (only pico de Gallo) and they don't provide many per your order. First time here and I got the California burrito. It was the Sunday special so it was $6.05 instead of 7.05 Service was super slow. I noticed people waited as long as we did even when they called in their order. They had about 5-6 people making food but they were slow. The burrito was amazing, lots of meat and very juicy! I have been coming to el super burrito to eat for a long time and I always order steak fries or wet burrito. And every time I order they mess up my order and charges me for things I didn't receive and order. I ordered a wet burrito with steak and shrimp and they charged me for the add on shrimp and no steak. But they put steak on the receipt so I'm thinking there is steak and shrimp on my burrito but it's just rice and beans with a couple of shrimp. The same thing with my California nachos. Although it is a big portion of food almost 3 servings, so the fact that meat is missing makes my food almost vegetarian. I am absolutely done coming here. Fed up! Thankful for a great recommendation from a Marriott staffer, who insisted I visit this terrific downtown Millbrae restaurant. Walked inside and found a solid order line at 530PM, which convinced me I'd gone to a good place. Made to order, everything fresh daily, friendly staff. Huge portions. Loved my grilled chicken burrito that was perfectly cooked, not at all greasy, included chicken, rice, beans, guacamole, and tomato salsa. Sooooo good! On-site parking, 14 tables and booths. I grew up in the SF mission and those places are busier and still provide faster service. Millbrae seriously needs another taqueria. I only come here because the taco truck next to the library leaves at 5pm. Currently waiting 20 mins and counting for one burrito. What makes it worse is that the new system of ordering is terrible. Been coming here for years! There is no substitution for Mexican food, this is the place you go when your cravings kick in for a bad ass burrito or amazing taco! My personal favorite, the California Steak Burrito. Don't PASS THIS UP. It's basically A burrito with fries and creamy avocados along with all the wonderful fixings bestowed to us by the El Super Staff. Speaking of the staff, something is different. Not sure if there is a new owner or manager, but things are moving FASTER than they were before. I was in and out of there with my 4 person order in about 15 minutes. I must say, the new ordering system is better than the old. It was always a bit of a hassle having to tell the person making the food what my order is, as I felt they would grow impatient or not understand my order correctly. Ordering at the cashier is just simpler and quicker. Lastly, the service is always phenomenal. I've seen the same faces working here since I began coming 9 years ago. I was in the area for a work conference and I really wanted some Mexican food. This place definitely hit the spot. My only issue is that it takes a while to get your food, it seems like it's always busy. So if you're in a hurry this probably isn't the best place to go. Or you should call your order in ahead of time. The prices are pretty good and the food is really good. I got the three taco plate, it tasted like real Mexican food to me. My friend had a super burrito that was close to $10 but it came with chips and salsa and she was only able to eat half of it. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food look somewhere else since this place is not it. I tried El Super Burrito for the first time back in 1998 and hated it. I felt bad for the people of Millbrae having no other choices nearby. I went back again in 2015 thinking they might have magically improved since, but boy was i wrong, it still sucked. New ordering is UNSANITARY! I can understand modernizing the ordering system and in one sense it is better. That is before you'd have to wait to order, and then often, wait again to pay. So it seems better with one wait to order now, but...one step forward, two steps back... Customer holds order number ticket with their hands, or sets it on table or puts it in pocket or holds it against cell phone, all dirty places. Then when number is called the gloved worker is required to take the customer ticket, WHY? Gloves now contaminated, and next burrito is made straight away, yuck! Automatic 1 star. read more
