    Super Burrito
    Veronica P.

Pretty solid taqueria. Ordered their super burrito with carne asada and extra sour cream. Compared to the low rated reviews, my burrito was filled with lots of carne asada. Meat was cooked well and juicy. Was surprised when the plate came with plain tortilla chips with no salsa, but they do offer both red and green bottles of salsa. Also ordered their regular churros and caramel filled churro (not shown). Loved how crunchy and sweet they tased. You can tell they're made fresh. Would come back to try their tacos!

We were, once again, looking for lunch after a doctor's appointment for mom. Her mobility is getting more challenging so it's critical that we park as close as possible to wherever it is that we're going. I had been thinking of a restaurant in Millbrae, but parking was impossible. I ended up driving to Burlingame. I grabbed the first parking space that I could and then we used yelp to find a place to eat. There were a few places nearby but then I opened my eyes are realized that we were parked in front of a Mexican restaurant. We looked it up on yelp and it has a decent rating. There were a couple of tables for two in front so our dog would be comfortable sitting with us. I borrowed one chair from the other table and mom and I sat down while my wife went inside to get a closer look at the menu. Then she came out and took the dog while I took a look. When I came back out, we figured out what we would order. After she placed the order and paid, she came back out with an order number that she placed on the table. After short wait, drinks were served. Then two of our dishes, and immediately after, the third dish as well as set-ups and extra napkins. Chicken Enchiladas with Mole Sauce, Rice, Beans and Salad - 5 - Mom ate all the rice, some beans and one enchilada and said that she enjoyed it. The reality is that she ate 2/3's of the enchilada because she kept pulling out the chicken and feeding it to the dog. I had the rest the next day after microwaving it and it was delicious! Super Nachos - 5 - Every now and then, my wife likes to go off the reservation and order Nachos. To me, they're just an appetizer but she wanted it for a meal so there you go. She enjoyed it immensely although she only managed to finish 1/2 of it. Quesabirria Tacos - 5 - I was slightly disappointed when they arrived at the table. Whoever assembled them must have poured a bit of consommé onto them before laying them down on their sides. Because of this, the downside of the tortilla soaked up the liquid and was kind of soft and mushy while the top side was nice and crunchy. The cheese pull was ridiculous. Too much of the wrong kind of cheese. Felt like I was eating a slice of Cheese Pizza. BUT, the beef was fantastic. The consommé was the best that I can remember ever enjoying. It was so beefy! Service was fast, friendly and excellent.

We ordered from grubhub, and the funny thing is they delivered to our neighbor instead of our house. The food was ok, but comparing to other Mexican restaurants was pretty disappointing in my opinion. The shrimp super nachos was exceptionally delicious, with very generous portion of shrimps. The Mole plate was spicy and chicken pieces were very small. The steak fajitas was so tough and not bitable. Overall, not good experience and we probably not order again, or may be just nachos.

Loved that they had the traditional Tlayuda on their menu. Love trying new food. Super friendly service.

This review is strictly for their drinks. My friends and I were looking at agua frecas because we were thirsty and the agua frescas here are homemade and taste really good. We got the mango and horchata and it was so good we came back for their pineapple and their strawberry. We'll be back for their food soon, so I'll let you know!

Good fresh Mexican food. This place started as a food truck that was very popular and now they have a very nice restaurant. The fish and shrimp tacos were excellent. The Tlayuda was also very good with three different kinds of beef and pork along with Oaxaca cheese. The green sauce was very good but be warned the red sauce is incredibly hot (and I like spicy!). My only complaint is no complementary chips and salsa with the meal. Next time I want to try to Quesabirrias and the Sopes. Overall very good. Burlingame can sure use more restaurants with good food like this.

This place is so good! There's plenty of seating if you want to enjoy your food there. The staff was very friendly and made the food quickly. The meat is seasoned to perfection and has great flavor. My boyfriend got the carne asada burrito and I had the quesabirria. The prices are reasonable. It's the perfect lunch spot and I would go again.

    Dry Steak Tacos

Everything looked fresh -- the onions were crisp, the food was hot, and at first glance, it had potential. But man... those tacos were dry as hell. Like choking hazard dry. I had to drown them in salsa from that little green container just to get through it. No sour cream, no cheese, not even offered. Why would you serve tacos like that? Honestly, it should be illegal to hand out something that dry without a drink or at least a warning. It looked fine, but eating it was a struggle. The aguas frescas were the only part of the meal that was actually enjoyable -- cold, flavorful, and refreshing. But the tacos? Big disappointment, never again.

This place became one of my regular lunch place. The crew that works here always keeps the good service.

The beef birria tacos are SO good like the flavor, the birria consomme, the sauce, the meat. Everything just hits right. This is a legit hole-in-the-wall kitchen, and that's exactly what makes it special. No frills, just really good food that keeps you coming back. Every time I'm craving birria (which is often), this is where I go. The quality stays consistent every single visit, which is huge. You know exactly what you're getting and it never disappoints. For the price and taste, the value is excellent. You're getting authentic, flavorful birria without paying sit-down restaurant prices. If you're in the area and craving some birria tacos, do yourself a favor and try this place. It's the kind of spot that turns into a regular rotation real quick. Trust me, I'm proof of that.

Summary: Flavorful, but HEAVY…read more Details: They just opened up a new branch in SF, but we wanted an excuse to hit up San Mateo, and Latin American is always a good enough excuse. While photos of their SF location suggest some seeing, this OG location is pretty much pickup/delivery only: a fairly literal hole in the wall, located along a random quiet street. Most folks would probably opt to take home or eat at one of the "nearby" parks, but we've gotten in the habit of just eating in the car, which... not so great for something as messy as birria lol. I'll say that for most folks, this would probably easily be more a 4 star spot, while for us, it's more a 2 star since we're unlikely to come back. That's not to say the food was bad: on the contrary, the flavors were quite good, and the consomme was less salty than some of the others we've tried. But their food is HEAVY. Not just the birria itself, but also the burrito we got, and heavier than other places we've been for some reason, with the birria sitting in a pool of oil soon after we picked it up. This probably isn't a deterrent for most people though, so take this as you will. Accessibility: Not too relevant since this is really just a pickup spot, with the pickup window being at the usual height you'd find elsewhere.

As soon as we walk in the door we were greeted by Daniel himself who welcomed us warmly and offered meal selections and specials that were available which was very helpful. We got the nachos to share , my hubby got the burrito and I got the Rosie's special. Firstly the portions are huge and the food was all absolutely delicious and visually stunning. Everything was made from scratch and cooked fresh to order and seasoned perfectly. My husband and I are very well traveled and trying Mexican food most every where we travel, let me just say, while SFO had lots to offer for vacay, this hidden gem is at the very top of my list as the reason I want to go back to Burlingame SFO. Do not hesitate, if you live around travel to the area make Gabriel and Daniel Mexican grill a weekly staple and support these 2 brothers who have been in business for the past 23 years, you will never regret it. The food is world class cuisine, served in a quaint, relaxed atmosphere where you will be treated like family, I certainly felt like I had dinner at my uncle's home, and the prices are unbeatable for the huge portions you are served. To be honest my husband and I inhaled the nachos, they are easily the best we ever had in all our worldwide travels, but our burrito and Rosie's special were so huge we both had leftovers. These 2 brothers have perfected their family restaurant and cook with heart, passion and skill, which is unmistakable in their cuisine and warmth of their hospitality. Lastly I would like to say, I do not often write reviews unless I'm absolutely blown away, and this restaurant is easily at the top of my list of restaurant recommendations of all our worldwide cuisine adventures. To Gabriel and Daniel, thank you pouring your love and passion into your cuisine and for allowing us to experience authentic delicious food that we will talk about for a lifetime. All our love... My super quesadilla had really good taste and flavor, but the portion for me just didn't do it. Looked small, felt small and weighted much less compared to my wife's super burrito. The outside slices held together but the middle slices fell apart fast despite using Dos manos (two hands). Basically same price as the super burrito but less food. The super burrito however, this is one of the better tasting burrito's I've had. Cheesy, flexible but crunchy tortilla, flavorful carne asada.
