From the outside, it comes off as way more commercial and/or pijo than it actually is. In reality it's just a down to earth, nicely decorated cafe- a fashionable cafe, if you will. The staff is SO friendly here, which definitely helps it feel more homey than posh.
The environment facilitates a seamless transition between coffee shop and cocktail bar, it's a great spot for both agendas. You could stay a while doing work with tea and a pastry (they have a whole display case lined with little homemade treats), and eventually find yourself with a glass of wine and a pincho.
At night it turns more romantic with candle lighting, it also draws a small after work/night crowd which keeps the place lively. It's definitely a good date spot.
I HIGHLY recommend their empanada chileno (around 2,80eu), which they'll heat up for you, or prepare for takeaway. It's got a flavorful, saucy combination of meat, egg, and olive in a crispy pastry shell, you can tell they're homemade with love. I'm a huge empanada fan and critic and have tried many of the acclaimed best in Madrid, and this one rivals for the top spot. read more
