Baleadas sencilla y un Plato de juevos con frijolis y plantains con avocado
Samantha T.

This is THE BEST HONDURAN FOOD IN LOS ANGELES. The nicest staff and affordable. 10/10 Love coming here for breakfast with my best friend. Highly recommend

Baleadas
Henry G.

I got a baleada of Pork and it was delicious and very big. The mixture of Avocado, cheese , beans , eggs , and pork makes it a one of a kind Central American Burrito if you will or a Baleada like the official name states. Very fast and kind service given to me and my father. Service: 8/10 Food: 8/10

Writing a review for a place like this is going to make me happy because I am writing about…read moresomething that surprised me, yet felt familiar. I do not know if this message is so obvious that is commonplace knowledge and thus better left unsaid, but not all Hispanic food is the same as Mexican food. And it is hard to remember because all Hispanic food, at least to me, have a similar flavor profile but there is enough gradiation in the different forms they take, that they can establish each as different. I am thinking of Salvadorean food and Mexican food. For example, Pupusas are distinctively Salvadorean, and I am sure someone, somewhere describe these as tortilla adjacent. And I can't be mad at the compairson. But beyond that these Pupusas can be made with cheese and beans and chicharron, which are all staples in Mexican cuisine. But yet Pupusas are still Salvdorean food and although similar to the bigger umbrelle of Mexican food, it still has a distinct way of tasting that separates itself from standard Mexican flavors. So, this knowledge was amplified for me when I went to this place. The owner's son, Adam was worknig the joint and he told me that the spot has been there for 30 years. And after eating there I can see why. But I am getting ahead of myself. So I got a quesadilla Hondurean. It still had beens and cheese and cream but they were different. For example the beans were more like a thick bean paste, instead of refried beans. And the cream was not like sour cream, it was more like a milk cream in the sense where I think that it did not have salt. I am not sure if I am making sense. But what stole the show was the tejadas, lightly fried green plantains that can be enjoyed with ketchup, a mayo like substanced that it is called the house and a personal favorite red onions. The tejadas- maybe I am spelling it wrong- were so good that as I am writing this sentence I am committed to eating thema again as I really want them. And I have a suspicison that this will be soon. Adan was kind, attentive and you can tell that he was proud of the joint. This place apparently is a bustle on weeknights. And I can see why. Just realized that this place also survived the pandemic. That has to be a special badge of honor by this point. Or maybe not. Go for the tejadas and other Hondurean bites that are also inspired by Asian dishes. Like this place has Asian Fried rice a la Hondurean. So this place has fun with its offerings too. It is worthy a try for the adventorous eater.

A hidden gem of Honduran food. As their name suggests, they are truly serving up the flavors of…read moreHonduras. The location is street parking only and on a high traffic street, so be weary of crossing. There is a crosswalk near the restaurant corner, but be sure to triple check to avoid being run over. The food was amazing. My friend is from Honduras and said this reminds him the most of authentic food from his home country. The Baleadas are a must order. Fresh flour tortilla with refried beans, crema, and cheese. A super simple dish, but amazingly tasty. They do have a few alternate fillings (add eggs, meat), but I'm told the original is best. I also tried the Honduran Enchilada. It's not as you'd expect, since the majority of us are accustomed to Mexican style ones. These are a fried tortilla, topped with their beef/potato/carrot mix, cabbage, red sauce, and tomato - and side of pickled onion. A tasty dish, but a bit rough to eat. Definitely a knife and fork situation. Pupusas.... wow. The masa layer is relatively thin so you can taste the massive amount of filling inside. These are the best pupusas I've had. It's served with red sauce and cortido. Crema is available as an extra side order, if needed (it's not needed). Only 4 fillings are available, but they are made quite nicely. They do take some time to arrive (menu warns approx 20 min), so be aware if you're in a rush. Be sure to order it a bit well done if you like crispy crust (yes!). The restaurant feels like a small family location and service was great. Cash and card are accepted, but if you do card, please bring cash for the tip! The credit card machine doesn't provide an option to add a tip (a rarity in today's tipping war...). The service was outstanding and we were glad to have brought cash for that! Definitely a must visit if you're a fan of Latino food in general. A katracho restaurant is definitely rare to find. It's quite a bit more different than the usual dishes I've had elsewhere.

The red sauce on the side helped a little, but they just didn't hit for me the way pastelitos at other places do. The sopa con coco was also alright. The meat inside was cooked well, but I just wish the broth had more depth. To me, it basically tasted like a normal bone broth with some coconut cream added. The fried fish was probably my least favorite. It was very bland and on the dry side. There's really no reason why everything needs to be this underseasoned. You're honestly better off going to an Asian grocery store and asking them to fry you a fish for free for like half the price. You'll probably get more meat too. The food also took way too long to come out. We came around 3pm, well outside of the lunch rush, and the restaurant was barely packed, but our food still took around 45 minutes. I was actually about to leave before I went up to ask about it, and that's when they finally got to our order. For the price and quality, I wouldn't come back. Overall all the food was under seasoned and the service was slow. The one thing I would say is that this could be a good option for groups since they have a private parking lot, which is pretty rare for this part of LA.
