The worse service! I ordered food for pickup at night around 8:10 pm and Door Dash told me it would be ready at 8:55 pm. I arrived at 8:50 pm and the restaurant closed early.... Upon arrival I saw one of the waitress leave. I called the next day at 9:19 am and the lady who answered the phone said that she did not work the night before. I told her that I wanted to cancel order because they closed early, but she told me that Door Dash said that food order had already been completed/picked up. I told her "how?" I did not pick up the food!!!!! I then followed up with Door Dash and submitted a refund request. I then checked back and Door Dash said that they cannot refund me since good order was already turned in. I called the restaurant back, spoke to the lady and then the owner.... Geremias, the owner claimed that he received the order at. 8:30 am and that he made the food and it was there all day waiting for pickup. I told him impossible since I had already spoken to the lady in the morning and she said order showed complete. Had she told me that order was made and ready for pickup I would have picked up the order this morning. But she did not! Also, Geremias sad that he closes at 8:00 pm but Yelp shows 9:00 pm and further stated that he can close anytime he wants!!! I told him that he cannot, that he has to honor posted hours because customers rely on this information to place orders and visit restaurant. Terrible display of customer service! At now time did he try to find a resolution and instead kept making excuses! My family and I have gone there over the years, but no more!

El Salvadoreno is located in the same plaza as the old Big Lots, and 2 doors from A&P Donuts. This restaurant has been here in Duarte for a long time and have been wanting to try them for a few years but never got the chance to until last Wednesday. My husband made an order through Grub Hub and we picked it up in person. We ended up purchasing: Pupusa Revuelta- This pupusa is filled with cheese and pork. Pupusa Vegetariana- This pupusa had squash, spinach and beans. Pupusa de Revuelta Con Frijol- This pupusa had pork and beans. Pupusa Calabaza y Queso- This pupusa had squash and cheese. Tamal de Pollo- This chicken tamale was pretty good. A Salvadoran tamale is slightly different from a Mexican tamale. Salvadoran tamales are wrapped in banana leaves which leaves the shell of the tamale to be a little different, I guess I would describe it to be moist, while a Mexican tamale is wrapped in corn husk, which yields the tamale shell to be a bit drier. The seasoning inside is also just slightly different but I do like tamales in general and thought this one was well seasoned and well cooked. I thought the size of the tamale was good for one person to eat and I wasn't hungry for another few hours after eating it for breakfast at work the next day. Pupusa de Chicharron- This pupusa had pork only. Our order had a large side of cabbage that had hot sauce already mixed in and also a side of hot sauce in a small container. The cabbage was too spicy for me but my husband liked it. ------------------ (Total= $40.04 after tax) Not a stranger to pupusas, I was surprised with how large this restaurant's size were and can understand why they cost more than other restaurants that may sell the same. They are definitely generously filled with the filling mentioned above and honestly, they all taste very good. But they are a bit oily. My mom really enjoyed eating the pupusa with pork and beans. She also liked eating the one filled with squash and cheese as well (she has had pupusas before). My husband liked the pupusa filled with pork and pork and cheese. I was surprised that they had a filling with squash, spinach and beans since I have not seen that at other restaurants before. It was really good. But even though the food was good, the service was rather poor. Several other fellow Yelp members had also mentioned the poor service, in which I knew before coming by here. When we walked in, no one spoke English. There was an employee at the register just taking her sweet time really just tiding up papers behind the counter. She also tried to tidy up the pile of menus (please note that this was around 7:30 pm and there was no one else in the restaurant). After she did that for 5 or 6 minutes, she eventually walked over to the kitchen window and placed our items (that were already wrapped) in a plastic bag and then eventually gave it to us. I honestly don't know why she thought it was most important to do whatever she was doing instead of putting our order together in a bag and making us wait more than 10 minutes, when clearly our order was already ready. She just looked at us when we told her "grub hub" and then she nodded and then went back to what she was doing. I wasn't too sure if she understood us but I just thought I would just patiently wait to see... I am at least glad that our food was still hot when we came home. If you speak the same language as the employees, then you might get better service but I think I will just go to another place for my pupusas.

Picked up beef stew soup, to my surprise when I got home I was confused by the giant bone with fat in the cup that left about maybe 1/2 cup of broth. The vegetables were hard I couldn't even stick a fork in them. The rice was old. The soup was salty with no flavor. I chose not to eat the soup in fear of getting ill, even though I paid 20 dollars for it. I refuse to ever return to this establishment again. It's a shame that they charge so much for such low quality food.

I used to think of this place as the best hole in the wall, and through the years it has seriously declined in service and food. There have been many incidents that have had me question returning, but also gave them a chance over and over again. This will most definitely be my last time ever giving them my business. They find it acceptable to serve this to loyal costumers can you imagine what you get as a first time costumer? Not to mention they have given me less pupusas than what I have paid for in the past AND expired salsa.... Save your money and go else where....

It all looks good except that beef jerky they served me.

Honestly I hate to say bad things about a fellow country person, but I did not like eating there. First off the utensils and plates were old, they look like they are dirty. I mean my mom was served her coffee in a dirty cup. The person that took our order seemed to not want to be there, but whatever on that. Both my parents ordered the same plate. It was menudo they liked it said it was good. Served with handmade tortillas always a plus. I ordered the surf and turf with plátano and beans, it was all good except the meat, it was dry and over cooked. Hard to chew like beef jerky. Overall the prices don't reflect the service and the way the food looks. I will never go back.

I like to get their loroco and cheese, beans and cheese, spinach and cheese, and zucchini and cheese. The pupusas are great in size and very flavorful. I love their salsa and their curtido always tastes fresh. Other items that I've had that are also delicious is their avocado toast, french toast, and eggs. The inside has several tables to sit down and enjoy your meal. It's decorated so nicely and welcoming. I love all the butterflies in the restaurant. Overall, the staff is friendly and food is delicious.

I could be speaking from absolute hanger but my plate was absolutely delicious. I'm not sure what it is called, but the menu is small so it won't be hard to find. They served a side a bread and we had to ask for butter which is no big deal. Unfortunately the staff doesn't really speak a lot of English but pointing at what we wanted worked really well. One thing I am not too happy about was the use of plastic utensils. Now I'm not one to judge bc it could be maybe they do not have enough staff and it is completely understandable, but I mean I'm cutting into a steak so maybe a plastic knife isn't the way to go? Overall it was great place and it was nice and cool inside.
