No one else at the table was asked for identification -- including people sitting directly next to her. When my friend calmly questioned why another guest wasn't asked for ID, the waitress responded by saying it was "because she looks older." The problem with that explanation is the other guest was actually younger than my friend. As someone sitting at the table watching this happen in real time, it absolutely came across as profiling based on appearance and skin color. It shifted the entire mood of what was supposed to be a happy graduation celebration. Regardless of intent, no customer should be made to feel singled out, embarrassed, or treated differently in front of friends and family. It was disappointing to witness and should be taken seriously by management.
