The sign on the front is busted. We didn't know they were open ( from far) their lot was full so we knew then. Service was great. Food was good, def not the best I have had. My wife order a chalupa they brought a tostada.maybe I'm too used to taco bell but it just looked like another tostada. I had the burritos they were pretty tasty. read more

I have been to El Rodeo before, but this will probably be my last time. My waitress was very friendly and attentive, so the service wasn't too bad; on the other hand, the food I ordered wasn't valuable at all. Specifically, I ordered the shrimp quesadilla for the first time and was left very disappointed. I didn't check my first quesadilla for how many shrimp was inside, but my second quesadilla merely had 4 regular sized shrimp. The cheese used for both quesadillas was embarrassing for a supposed "authentic" Mexican restaurant, it tasted like the same type of processed Velveeta cheese I use for macaroni. This dish was surprisingly priced at $12, and it was only after I finished had I realized how terrible of a value that was for a dish that I could easily make at home. read more

Typical sloppy, greasy, salty "Mexican" food that is served in America with a splash of excessive charges for sour cream and avocado. The sour cream was an extra $1 and the avocado was $3.50. I get the avocado was a little expensive due to the cost of avocados. I order the number 11 (don't quote me on the menu item number) that consist of an enchilada, burrito, and tamale. The burrito wrap was chewy, tamale corn wrap was super thick with dry shredded beef, and the enchilada was very creamy ground beef that looked like it was in a blender before serving. The service was not good. The host didn't speak to us just grunted and waved for us to follow him as he proceeded to walk very fast to the table. The server was not much better. I asked questions and he just coldly responded with, "no." I got the impression we were bothering him. I even here before and thought the service and food was minimal acceptable. This time took the cake and I will not force anyone to take my money for the low quality of food and service. Much better options in the area. read more

This place had the worst Mexican food I had ever eaten. I got the Grande Dinner to have a taste of various items. Everything was dry, unseasoned and tasteless. The rice was over cooked and the refried beans was like water with no beans. Also everything was served like warm. I have been to this place so many times and I never had any complains. I love this place! I love their food. If you like spicy food, you have to try their tomatillo sauce!! It is just amazing. My favorite is beef tacos (corn tortillas.) I don't find the service to be slow at all. Both drinks and foods come out in timely manner. My wife and I love this place. The salsa is probably the best we've ever had in a restaurant. She ordered 2 tacos a la carte. I ordered a #1 combo which is a taco and 2 enchiladas with rice or beans. I got the rice. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot. The rice was amazing and I can't recommend it enough. Way different than what you get in most Mexican restaurants. Overall the meal was fantastic and we will be back. I would give 5 stars, but there is one negative. Not a huge deal. The chile relleno here strange. In fact I wouldn't even describe it as a chile relleno. Just a pile of chopped up meat and peppers with cheese melted on top. I ordered it last time and didn't care for it. My friend and I have the tradition of getting Mexican food and margaritas every time we get together. Since she moved to Indiana, we had to find a new place. In comes El Rodeo. They have your typical Mexican options on the menu, nothing out of the ordinary. But their margaritas are probably the strongest I have ever had. Totally worth every penny. We got the biggest one you can get...and that was enough! The food was good, the service was pretty good (there was a period of time where were didn't know where our waiter went), but overall I would say the servers were very nice. We spent a decent amount of time talking with them (we were there when it wasn't busy). Basically, if you want to get some good food and an excellent margarita, this is your place! read more

I'm saying three solid stars for todays visit. I would have given them 1-2 stars in the past. My daughter LOVES their queso so when we're on this side of town she begs to go. Usually I leave complaining about how sub par the food is but today...what an amazing surprise! Everything was good...bordering on very tasty. The queso is very tasty and I like their salsa as well. I've just always been so disappointed with the main courses. I decided not to eat today since I'm always so underwhelmed. My husband ordered the chicken soft taco (ala carte) my daughter always orders refried beans and flour tortillas and my son ordered a shredded chicken quesadilla. My husband complains about having to visit this place more than me but he devoured the chicken tacos and was astonished that he enjoyed them. "I've been so wrong about this place!" My son decided he was full so guess who dug into his quesadilla? Momma! I ate the whole thing and really enjoyed it. Let's hope our streak continues into our next visit! read more

Tried going here one last time. Always had bad food and slow service in the past but we wanted to sit outside. Were seated and waited nearly 20 mins. No server. Food/service is good. I think it deserves 3.5 stars. Their location in Carmel on Michigan Rd is the best and is 4 stars. The chips are not always hot at this location but are good. I recommend the steak burrito as that is my favorite dish or tacos de carne asada. With El Rodeo you always get at least decent food/service and sometimes they will knock it out of the park. The Carmel location is more consistent. La Hacienda down the road gets my vote as being better. read more

We were with a large group for a friend's birthday in the "party room." I was worried that things would be chaotic but the staff did a great job with refilling drinks and taking orders. That being said, although I ordered first, I was one of the last people to get my lunch and the food was lukewarm at best. My order wasn't correct, either, but I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes for more food so I made due. Cheap Mexican places are kind of a dime a dozen ... This is your standard American style Tex-Mex fare, done reasonably well. The top shelf Margaritas are strong and cheap. Good Chiles Poblanos. Don't make the mistake of ordering the Chile Relleno. It is like no Chile Relleno I have ever had and consists of some ground beef and melted cheese on a plate with a small strip of pepper - very odd. Horrible service!! 2 hours of constantly looking for someone to care we were even there. At least 20mins before we even got drinks...no refills for you! He didn't even try to take our order when he brought the drinks....we considered leaving at that point. Food was mediocre at best. We had to ask for the check twice and it took 30mins before he tore the handwritten "check" from his pad. Even the guy running the register decided the customers waiting for a table were more important than cashing us out. As soon as we walked up to the register he walked away...about 5 mins later he finally came back. I brought my husband in there tonight to celebrate veterans day with him and to thank him for his sacrifices to our country, the waiter was good, on top of everything, the cashier how ever was very rude and over charged us on several things. Then when I brought it to his attention his argued with me! There is NO way four of us for dinner (two were kids meals) cost me $68.03. I will not be coming back to your restaurant and planning on letting everyone I know, including co-workers about the way you run this restaurant. Highly disappointed and will not be coming back or recommending you to anyone! By over charging me more than $20.00 you have lost business. I hope you do not make the same mistake with other people. El Rodeo is our choice for Mexican restaraunts in Avon. I only gave it three stars because it is just like every other mexican restaraunt. The service is always great and the place is clean. Food is good as well. I would like to find a mexican restaurant that sticks out from all the other ones, but until then, this is a safe choice. I haven't had a bad experience yet. read more

Usually we have a great time visiting this restaurant. However, last night was not very enjoyable. My husband's order came out wrong and mine just was not very good. The meat in my taco salad was full of grissle and the chicken was overcooked. There also was not enough salad in my taco "salad". Just all around not a good experience. read more

The food is pretty good, however, the amount of time you'll spend in the restroom after a meal here offsets how good it is. The staff are pleasant and the restaurant seems clean for the most part. I'd only stop here if this is truly the kind of food you want to eat and aren't willing to drive some where else.
