Bland Roasted Pork and arroz con gandules
    Richard H.

I stopped in for lunch because I have been wanting to try this place for quite some time. The ambiance of the place was typical for a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in a strip mall. You know the vibe I'm talking about, the one that makes you question your lifes choices. Upon placing my order from the limited selection of food I realized that there was no way this cafeteria style served Latin food was going to be satisfying. I was pretty much on point with my assumptions, the food was what I consider to be acceptable because it was edible. I ordered roast pork and arroz con gandules and it was flavorless and bland. I'm quite certain it wasn't up to proper temperature either, so I imagine I ate some bacteria and may become closer friends with my toilet later. There are many Latin American restaurants in this area that are of much better value and quality. It is actually hard to find one that is worse in the area. Steer clear and you'll be living your best life.

Tucked into a corner of a small strip mall, this little place is authentic and delicious. The prices are low and the atmosphere is festive, but not over the top. Looks they have entertainment on the weekends as well.

The alcapurias were terrible! they were greasy and tasted like. it came from a box. They are not authentic at all. Will not eat there again .

I went here a couple of times before the renovation and the service was horrible and the food looked dry and old sitting in the hot pans so I never went back. My friend was in town and wanted to go so I gave it another try and I'm so glad I did.... They renovated the place and made it more contemporary. They updated their entire menu and added some amazing dishes. The place was immaculate including the bathroom and the service was great. The food was super fresh cooked to order and absolutely delish and perfect . If you're looking for authentic Dominican food, and restorable prices, you have to try it. I will definitely be back.

Their website and pictures on the window are very deceiving. There was not a good variety of food, it all looked old, only eat the Sancocho cause we came from a long way and we're starving, and to be honest, it was the only thing that looked half decent. Will definitely not go back.

We visited El Rincon Latino while visiting Tampa and I was severely disappointed. From the moment you step into this place, you get a sense of unsanitary practices from the cooking to the cleaning to the poor service at this place. Let me start off by saying their empanadas are probably the only thing I would eat again from this place so if you are lucky enough to eat here, just take my advice and order yourself 3 or 4 of these and call it a meal. Things I noticed. First, we sat down at this place when there was literally no one else inside. Then a few minutes later, a group of people walked in and they seemed to be very friendly with the staff as if they were family or close friends and of course we get put in the back burner. We ordered a Bandeja tipica ($14.99) and bistec salteado ($12.99) for entrees as well as a couple sides of rice and beans. I also ordered a Coke (came in a can) and 2 mango drinks and this cost $48 plus a left a little tip. IMO it is severely overpriced for what we ordered and I don't know why we charged $48 as I didn't even want to ask and get out of this place as soon as we could. I left about 90% of my entrée on my dish and asked to take it home but as soon as we left this place, I threw it in the trash right outside the restaurant. On top of that, my wife was sick the next day and we believe it was from this place so good luck to you if you find yourself here for lunch/ dinner.

Look how small this chimi is. The size of my fingers length Horrible

I had never ever got a chimi in a mini bun. I order more than 1 chimi and they all came this small. Worst chimi spot ever dont buy chimi sandwhich or you gonna be upset. Never again going back, Every where else you get a hand size chimi this place horrible

Great service and Amazing food. Something that's truly hard to find in Tampa. A huge variety of food to choose from. Great for in a pickup and go. Extremely happy

How on earth can I be the first one to show this place some Yelp love?! Maybe because this small family-owned restaurant is hidden in an unassuming business park and it's really hard to see from the main road (Sheldon). Heck, I never would have known about this place if a friend hadn't told me about it two days ago. This is some legit home style Latin-American food (I think the owners are Dominican based on the flag in the logo). I had three different types of chicken and all of them were delicious! Flavor, moistness, texture...all on point for me. Don't expect fancy. Don't expect a newly decorated place. There is nothing modern or chain-like about it. Trendy would also not be a word I'd use to describe this place. They do however give you a lot of good food for the price they charge. I got a plate full of meat (didn't get sides since I'm trying low carb) and a Diet Coke for $5.80. That's insanely cheap in my book! You can get a lunch or diner option, meat + two sides, or go fully à la carte like me. Mix and match as you choose, like in a cafeteria. This is a perfect lunch spot for people who work in the area.

We loved this place! The food was flavorful (note empty plates in photo). They were very accommodating. My breakfast sandwich came on Cuban bread. The meat and chicken were succulent and marinated very well. And can we talk coffee! I drink mine black. This place would shut all coffee spots down! Robust, rich and bold. Perfect morning pick me up.

    Looks better in pictures :/

*Sigh* I really don't want to leave bad reviews because people are really just trying to survive this c19 fiasco. So with that Ill say this place has good customer service. The establishment itself is kinda sketchy and all the hot plates were pretty much empty when I got there. Maybe they were getting ready for the dinner crowd...? The gentleman behind the counter was really nice; kinda reminded me of my grandpa. Super nice man. I asked if they had chicken, they had just ran out of the oven roasted chicken but we're making fried chicken. I didn't wait long for it to come out from the back. In the meantime, I asked for some chinola juice (passion fruit). It's the typical juice you'd get from a Spanish spot, so that was good. I wish I could say the same for the food. So obviously, I got the fried chicken on the bone and mangú. The chicken was over fried and dry in the inside. It was lightly seasoned. The mangú was a bit runny for my taste. The best part of the meal were the onions. I think they could definitely do better cooking wise. Maybe the chef is the older gentleman and his taste buds are due for retirement? I don't know but I won't be back just cuz the spot down the street is wayyyyy better. I only stopped here because of time restraints.

If you're a Puerto Rican immigrant living in the Sunshine State, you might miss the taste the churrascos with tostones, garnered with chimchurri or maybe some mofongo. El Rincón is a home (almost) away from home that has you covered with the best meals from the Dominican Republic. From Bistec empanada and mofongos to churrasco and flanes de queso, you'll feel like your eating at abuela's place

We ordered the beef stew, empanadas, fried yuca, black beans, rice, and plantains. The soup was great with lots of toppings. The empanadas were beautifully crunchy and the sauces on the side for them were divine. My favorite bite of the night though was the black beans; oh my gosh the flavor was there. Our server was excellent. Very friendly, gave us great recommendations and went over the menu with us as first timers. I went with her suggestion to get a frozen drink and I'm so glad I trusted her. The frozen lemonade tasted so fresh and no artificial flavor at all. She said you can adjust the sugar on any of their fresh juices as well. The only miss? My fountain Sprite was flatter than a crepe -- definitely a sign the spout needs changing. I was this close to grabbing a slice of tres leches cake, but I had just finished an ice cream cone from McDonald's, so I had to show a little restraint.
