Being from Tampa, we are always on the look out for good Cuban sandwich places. My favorite in Tampa unfortunately has closed so now on for it's replacement. This I found online searching and have driven by it a million times in the 18 years I have lived here in Tampa Bay as it is close to my parents house. Sadly, the plaza that it is in isn't thriving so I never noticed it. Inside was cute with lively music and decor. They were willing to adjust our sandwiches to order and very friendly. They have been there for over 20 years according to the person I spoke with, which in a plaza not thriving says a lot. The prices were very affordable and all the meats were warm throughout (sadly I have had many Cubans with some meat still being cold even though pressed) but I would say that I would have liked the sandwich pressed just a little longer to make more of a crispy bread. My experience here at Cuban Breezes was not exactly what I was hoping for. On the search to satisfy my cravings for some local Cuban cuisine, I was directed to this restaurant. The ambiance didn't feel too welcoming as it darkly lit and awkwardly spaced. As nice as the staff were I don't think it made up for the not so nice food served. I ordered the Palomilla platter. The plantains were rice and plantains were nice. But the rest really didn't have much flavor. Maybe if given another chance they may improve but I'll skip. Next time I'll look elsewhere for my Cuban food cravings. read more

What a cool little hidden gem! My daughter and I were in Tampa for a soccer tournament and noticed the sign outside of this restaurant tucked into a strip wall. I was shocked to see how packed it was in there. We were seated, and instead of getting takeout, we decided to stay because it was so cute and quaint in there, and we could tell that the servers were really friendly and attentive. My wife grew up in Tampa, so she ate Cuban food on a weekly basis. She has had her favorites that she has taken us to, but for our stop here, this was a first for her. I don't have a refined palette for Cuban food, so it all tastes good to me, and based on that alone, I would highly recommend a Cuban sandwich, plantains, and rice and beans. Our kids also enjoyed the Arroz con Pollo, so that's always a plus when the kids are happy. My wife on the other hand has had a ton of Cuban food and while she thought most of it was decent (okay), she raved about the stuffed crab. We dined inside and it's a little divey, but we enjoyed the ambiance. Don't know if we'll be back, just because it's not close to the place we usually stay, but for what we got, we recommend you give it a shot! read more

Let me start that this restaurant used to have decent staff and tasty But the decline or authenticity of menu items and even worst the staff attitude (saying thank you, checking in on your table vs yapping with your coworkers and making fun of other customers) is awful. This place is one of my go to spots for Cuban food. I always know that what to order and it will always be good and consistently good. Simple, good food. depending on where you are, it could be a bit further away from the downtown Tampa area. But if you find yourself in the town and country/westchase/oldsmar area...stop on by for some good Cuban dishes. Clean and bright area with ample parking in the shopping center. Prices are very reasonable and overall great service and food. My go to is always the roasted pork sandwhich with fries. Pork is never dry and the fries are always made by order. My coworker always orders the breaded steak, bistec empanizado, with rice and beans and sweet plantains. It is so good, he refuses to order this anywhere else cause it will disappoint. I've also ordered the pan con bistec sandwich, but somehow his breaded steak was more tender than my sandwich steak. I'll stick to my normal pork sandwhich. Again, it isn't in your standard "Tampa" area as it is a bit more out west but it will certainly make the trip out there, worth the drive. read more

Service was friendly and place was busy. Not bad but nothing to write home about. Cuban sandwich was slice of ham, some pulled pork, jar sandwich pickle on a pressed hogie bread. Sounds like it tasted, boring. The Ropa Vieja seemed cooked with canned tomatoes served with parboiled minute rice and beans. But the Maduros were good! Flan was touted, so we tried. As a Cuban from Miami I will say this.... If you're looking for good Cuban food go elsewhere. The black bean soup has a consistency as if someone poured a can of black beans into the to go container. Cuban sandwich is bland. Zero flavor. The yuca frita and croquetas taste like they were frozen and then fried. There is a Cuban soda called ironbeer. Went here for a quick business lunch and had a fine experience, ordered the mojo pork with rice/beans and plantains. You know, the traditional at any Cuban restaurant stop in Florida. Wasn't the best or worst mojo pork I've ever had. I think the beans may have been a little over cooked to my liking. The service was okay. Cuban Breezes is our family's go-to destination for local Cuban food, and has been for several years. The food here is consistently good and reasonably priced, which keeps us coming back year after year. My favorite thing to order is their beef empanadas - the beef is perfectly seasoned while the pastry shell is crisp without being overcooked. They also offer other types of empanadas, but I've only tried their beef version. My husband likes their mahi mahi sandwiches and orders them every time we stop in. Every now and then we venture out and try something new, and have never been disappointed- but keep going back to our old favorites. For a side I suggest trying their black beans and rice - cooked perfectly, the beans are not soggy like I find and many other places. We order to-go more often than we dine in, especially since Covid, and have found the to-go orders are alway hot and ready when we arrive. Dine in is comfy, nothing fancy, but a place to grab a quick tasty meal with family or friends. Service has always been good with servers quick to take our orders and food coming out timely. It can get busy around dinnertime, but we've never had to wait long to be seated. There are a few tables outside for dining too, but we've stuck to the indoor seating with AC. This is a hidden gem! Many would say this is one of the best Cuban places in the Tampa Bay Area. Their Cuban sandwich and empanadas are delicious. We always cater the chicken empanadas that comes with both hot sauce and Havana sauce whenever we have to bring an appetitzer to a social gathering. There is a special if you buy 12 at a time and can be cut in half as well. They are always a hit! The place is small and quaint. The staff is friendly however we mostly get take out due to the convenience and the current pandemic. If you're in the area I highly recommend checking them out.
