Unfortunately, tonight's experience was extremely disappointing, specifically because of the service we received from Darlene. We tried the shrimp yakisoba in addition to our wings and mozzarella sticks and unfortunately did not like the flavor of the yakisoba. The frustrating part is that Darlene only asked us one time if everything was okay--and she didn't even come to our table. She asked while checking the thermostat, and at that point we had only eaten our wings and some mozzarella sticks. We had not even tried the yakisoba yet. We waited approximately 15 minutes for her to come back and check on us, but she never did. I eventually went to the counter to get a box. Since she never came back to our table, we also went to the counter to pay, which is different from our previous visits where we were checked out at the table. We explained to Darlene that we didn't enjoy the yakisoba because of the flavor. Instead of simply acknowledging the feedback, she responded rudely that we needed to tell her when she checked on us so it could have been fixed. That was frustrating because she never checked on us after we actually tried the food. How were we supposed to tell her we didn't like something when we hadn't even tried it yet? Then, when I went to tap my phone to pay, Darlene said, "But you're not paying for it, so it doesn't matter." I told her she was being rude, and rather than de-escalating the situation, she began arguing with me and made it seem like we were somehow at fault for not saying anything during the first time she asked. We asked to speak with a manager, and Darlene told us that she was the manager. We weren't upset simply because we didn't like a dish. We understand that not every menu item is going to be everyone's taste. What we expected was basic customer service and an opportunity to actually communicate our concerns. Instead, we were blamed for not reporting an issue that we literally hadn't discovered yet, followed by a rude response when we attempted to explain it. The wings are still excellent, and we've had good experiences here before, which is why tonight was particularly disappointing. Unfortunately, Darlene's handling of the situation left a much worse impression than the food itself.

Hot chicken is their expertise at S&B, so if you're up for the challenge they have some pretty spicy stuff. One of the attendees tried the level below reaper and said it was meant to be fed to babies, so try the reaper if you dare. The chicken itself is solid. The flavor doesn't blow you away, nothing is too dried out, but there isn't an explosive crunch either. On principle I am against a restaurant that charges for sauces, since there should at least be a few that come with your meal. Three tendies with no sauce at all is blasphemous. They really need a little something to take them to the next level, so you should order a couple of sauces in the side. I did thoroughly enjoy the bacon pieces that they added to my mac and cheese, these lil pork morsels were a delectable addition to the side dish. We split a Large Bag o' Bites which were crispy, savory, and delicious breaded chicken breast pieces. We also got the three piece combo: two drumsticks and a thigh. We got everything non-spicy and found it all to be delicious, moist, and crispy. I am especially grateful that Cookie's makes their fried chicken WITHOUT DAIRY since I have a hard time digesting milk protein. I'll give them another chance down the road, but ultimately, in a city that has so many great fried chicken options (Triangle Spirits, S/T Hooligans, and Sisters and Brothers), it's going to be hard to make the decision to choose them again after the meal I had.
