Things ordered: Vegetarian Quesadilla (with rice and guac) and flan. Honestly, I don't have much to complain on the food-food aspect. It tasted pretty much like other Taquerias I've been to. It's not the best tasting food, but it's better than fast food, for sure. The portions are alright, probably not as generous with sides as others are. However, not bad. I'd still recommend for the food. My issue was packaging. The flan came in a small styrofoam white hinged box. The caramel liquid leaked out (obviously). The quesadilla was packed in a foil-ly box and was completely soggy. The salsa was kept in a Styrofoam white sippy cup. So all in all, terrible packing. And that is my sole issue. I just called to place a pickup order. I ordered an entree and a 10$ chorizo cheese dip appetizer. The meal comes with chips and salsa and I asked to have another bag of chips for the appetizer. She told me the appetizer does not come with chips and it would be a charge. How in the world does a dip not come with chips? She sounded young and rude and argued with me the whole time. Great place for Mexican food. Hidden in a small strip of businesses behind White Castle but don't let that fool you. Our group had several good dishes, from chicken quesadillas, chicken fajitas, monster burrito, tacos carnitas and crazy fries. Portions are large. Monster burrito is MASSIVE. Food is similar to other Mexican restaurants with sides of refried beans and rice. Decor is inviting and cheery. The BATHROOMS were very upscale. Live edge counters and tile and stone work. El Ranchero is nestled in small strip mall in Milford that is easy to miss. But wait its worth the adventure to search for this out of the way location. The foods flavor and presentation is spot on. They have many great beers on tap and of course the Margaritas are always spot on. The salsa is more the smooth then the chunky styles of salsa survived in many Mexican restaurants locally. But this Salsa has a great little kick it up flavor and spice. One thing that I never do is order the same dish at any restaurant more then twice... But here I can not get away from this dish with shredded Chicken.. Love it.. I'm picky about my mole sauce, I think the best is balanced by both sweet and spicy. This was a good mole sauce but not as sweet to my liking. Their chips and salsa are very good, the salsa is chunky so it's a hit in my opinion. The chimichanga cheesecake was good but I wished the ice cream portion would have been larger. Another guest in our party ordered fish tacos, they looked delicious. Their presentation of all the dishes was exceptional. The good: This place has fair pricing to other Mexican restaurants. This is a good place to celebrate a birthday, they make the birthday guest get noticed for sure! I love that they have a lunch menu offered 7 days per week from 11am - 2:30 pm. Ok so I eat out every Wednesday. It's my day off to clean, do laundry and grocery shop so, I treat myself to lunch! I went to El Picante in Loveland right at 11. I was seated at the front door in an empty restaurant and then watched them wait on everyone in parties of 2 or more before me even though I came I first. I got up and walked out and came here. I was greeted warmly and seated right away and not by the front door. Their chips are better and their salsa is a lot thicker than el picante. I ordered a two item lunch special for $7.99. I got a taco and a chimichanga with rice and beans. Everything was delicious! I had already quit going to the el picante on Branchhill due to horrible service I won't be going back to the one in Loveland across from Kroger anymore either. This is the second time they treated me poorly when dining alone. I take that into consideration when I tip so, it's definitely their loss! I went here a few days ago for the first time. I'm not big into smaller restaurants but it was my mothers birthday and she wanted to go here. I was really uncertain of what to expect. However when I got there, I felt really cozy with the placement of everything in the restaurant. I really still didn't know what to expect with the food, so I ordered something familiar to me; a fajita chicken quesadilla. I was shocked by how good this was, it made me almost want to order another one. The service here was really great too, checking in frequently and they were extremely polite. For 15+ years we frequented Acapulco's down near Lila Ave, but two things happened. 1) We moved to the other side of Milford, and 2) it changed ownership (now called Maya) and seems to be in a spiral. El Ranchero is like the Acapulco's of old. Service is fast, food is good, and the folks there are hustling. My husband and myself get out here as often as we can. We have been coming here since our son was about a month old, he's currently 13 months and we have never had a problem. The molcajete is excellent, fajitas, carnitas, Asada, anything you order is delicious. My husband always orders me a big margarita, usually lime or peach and they never disappoint. We always sit at the same table and have the same waitress. She is incredibly nice and cares about our order. I always make it a point to tip her a little more than usual because she checks on us frequently and she makes sure our experience is great. My son loves their beans and rice, and he doesn't eat just any restaurant beans. I have read these reviews and I'm appalled. Any poor reviews of this place are because of the customer because we have NEVER had a problem here and we will continue to eat here. If you can't afford to pay 7$ for an appetizer, you shouldn't be dining out. Larosas costs more than this place. It's always clean, fairly priced and the staff is very friendly. read more

This is not the first time I've experienced this at this type of restaurant. I'm sensing a trend. anyhow, I ordered from the ala carte menu and pointed to my selections. A beef quesadilla and a chicken quesadilla. I've never been here before tonight so i didnt know how they prepared their food. The waitress said. It's grilled chicken. I said ok? And that was it. We get our food and one is grilled chicken chunks, and the other thin pieces of steak...beef, I suppose. Right? Anyway. We get the bill and she charged us 7.00 a piece. The menu said 3.99. So I said ma'am, I believe this is wrong. (It also said fajita on the receipt btw) she said no, you ordered grilled chicken. I said, well i pointed to what i wanted on the appetizer menu and you told me it was grilled chicken, also I did not get fajita mix. She kept saying sorry, you have to pay this price. I felt like I was in a twilight zone, or on an episode of pranked. It was so odd. I paid for the food...but let her know that I did not order what she had on the receipt. She lied to have the price jacked up and then tried to make me look like an idiot. Jokes on you, lady. Be aware!! And explicitly state what you want. Dont take their word for it. THANK GOD FOR THIS PLACE. This is the first place I have been in Ohio that actually has spicy foods. Customer service here is wonderful, the server brought us samples of each of their salsas and sauces so that we could determine which one we wanted on our meal. Drinks are reasonably priced and not too strong, not too subtle. We ordered the fajita plate and the chipotle shrimp, and both were divine. We have struggled to find a place in this state that isn't bland and lacking flavor, but we finally found our new favorite place!
