Last night, I came here for dinner and it was amazing. El Potrillo is really a classic Mexican restaurant, but with no faults at all. I ordered the Tour of Tijuana, which is a selection of three different tacos with a side of rice and beans, as well a handful of lettuce and some limes. I also ordered some of their homemade hot sauce, which made everything better. Everything was extraordinary, from the juicy, tender meats to the fluffy rice to the flavor of the hot sauce. This meal was very cheap for how amazing it was, with a taco that I couldn't finish and boxed it up and took it back home with me. I will order this again, no question. Service was excellent. When I came in, I was sat down pretty fast at a booth and although it took a little longer than usual, it was because a fairly large just entered the building. The waitresses were very polite and were helpful and fast, they did a great job. Inside was good. A large amount of space inside was mostly filled by booths and tables with a few TV's scattered around. It was also a very colorful space, with pictures and art everywhere. Amazing smells from corner to corner, comfortable booths and a classic Mexican restaurant feel are what you have here at El Potrillo. From amazing food and drinks, to fast service and polite servers, to a spacious, colorful inside and mouth-watering smells, El Potrillo hits every mark. Service was excellent however food was terrible. Ordered a ground beef Taco and Pork Tamale with red sauce. What I got was an over-nuked tamale with green sauce and a fast food type taco. I could not get my fork through the masa on the tamale nor could I eat the rock hard mystery meat inside. It was the wost customer service I have ever received!! My husband and I went there for Cinco De Mayo and the waitress made us feel un wanted. To say the least. First she would not not make me a blended margarita said she is too busy , but she WOULD Make me over the rocks WHAT? Then my husband wanted a whiskey sour she sighs deeply and says ok I will do it! Ugh! How can one family own most of the Mexican restaurants in town and they're all so different? Tried El Potrillo today. What a mistake. Start off with chips that tasted of the used oil they were fried in. Salsa couldn't be called a salsa, it was just tomato sauce. I asked for hot salsa and was presented with a bowl of watery green stuff that had no discernable heat. Uh oh! Should have left at that point, but I was with company. I ordered the El Sobosa burrito. It's a chile rellano, beans, rice, all that stuff. It looked beautiful when it came, but upon closer inspection, it was swimming in grease. Uh, you need to drain fried food! I took 3 bites and that was way more than enough. No flavor. And so much gummy cheese it was hard to chew. If you like spicy good food, skip this place. read more

We have been here dozens of times over the past 6 years. It IA by far the best Mexican restaurant in Kingman. The shrimp entrées Re fabulous. If you like a tang, try the spicy Mango Margareta. If you like it hot, ask for the hot green salsa with your chips. read more

The server did a good job. This 2 star rating is for the owner/chefs frankly lackluster attempt at a standard Mexican restaurant. I went off the beaten path, hoping for a beloved local spot, away from Hwy noise. That search continues. The lemonade is powdered, not fresh. You can taste that canned flavor, The chips arrive room temp, not heated. The salsa is a flavorless tomato sauce. The pollo asada burrito did arrive hot, and was tasty. But that nasty lemonade killed my taste buds. Maybe the water needs filtering, too. Bathroom was clean. read more

we have friends that moved to Kingman, so we will be visiting the area alot. So they said, lets do mexican food. Great! So this is the cutest place ever! I should have taken pic's of the deco. The customer service was great! I ordered Carna astada tacos, they were ok, I don't like my cheese on the outside of my taco. So I had to open every taco and push the cheese in it that was on the outside. Other than that it was just meat and coto cheese! There was alot of taco shell that seemed like it was missing something. Some lettuce and tomotoes, or some cilantro and onions. My friend ordered the mexican stir fry, that was pretty good. Worst food ever! Ordered carnitas tacos. Each taco Had one and a half teaspoons of Carnitas There was nothing in it at all other than the scrapings of Carnitas there was not big chunks of Carnitas. They gave me I'd say maybe 2 tablespoons of runny refried beans. It was the saddest looking plate of Corneta tacos I've ever seen and for the price that they were asking it was ridiculous! We had eaten there once before several years ago weren't impressed then and definitely not impressed this time. Never never again will we eat here.I must've pissed somebody off in that restaurant I'm considering I've never been there but once before. O.M.G. Delicious!!! Everything was great from walking in the door and being greeted right away to thanking us when we were leaving. The young man with curly hair was very nice! The waiter who took our order was helpful and super polite. The restaurant is very colorful, inviting, and super clean. I am in Kingman often and enjoyed my food & service so much that I will definitely be returning. The bacon wrapped shrimp was amazing. The tour of Tijuana.....every single taco was so good. This little restaurant as plenty of character and décor. The seafood avocado salad was fresh and more than enough of everything, please have it with the serrano dressing. They may seem pricey but you get more than enough to eat. Bonus is a choice of regular or black beans. If you are adventurous, try the spicy mango margarita. Coming down from Hualapai Mtn and stopped in for a late breakfast/early lunch. Chorizo and eggs. Seafood omelet (a 1st for me). Delicious. Asked for the spicy salsa (green) and side of guac. Another delicious. Cadillac margarita. This is the 3rd delicious. And all performed with attentive and friendly service. I could not think of any reason to short them a star so 5 stars it is. Yeah. The Chicken Fajita plate for 2 was DELICIOUS and PLENTIFUL. We couldn't even finish the meal which means extra food, what a plus! The waitress was so sweet and on top of her work bringing the food within a minute of it being taken off the grill, but still letting you enjoy your own peace by not bugging you every 10 seconds asking "how is the food". Personally, if you have to ask then there's no confidence in the taste. The workers were confident. The decor inside, beautiful. When this place was originally downtown on Andy Devine Avenue, the food was phenomenal. They had unusual dishes, and all the ingredients were fresh and beautifully presented. Then for reasons unknown they moved up to Hualapai Mtn Road and their menu became a carbon copy of every other Mexican restaurant in the area. I went last week for the first time in many months for lunch. Very few people there, waitress less than enthused, service unbelievably slow. All 3 of us ordered the same thing, which was a lunch special: taco salad. When mine came, I found a wad of plastic wrap mixed in with the lettuce. The waitress was informed when she came to bring our checks and she appeared flustered. She came back a few minutes to inform me that they heat up the chicken for the salad in plastic wrap in the microwave and that she was sorry. I thought the least she could have done was to comp my iced tea or something, but absolutely nothing was offered except an apology. I had to go hunt the waitress down to come pick up our payments because we had to get back to work. The food was unimpressive. I doubt we'll go back when there's so many other Mexican restaurants in town to choose from. read more

Ok so let's see how should we rate this? We get here they greeted us really quick sat us and handed us a menu. Took a bit for our drink order I ordered a michelada wife ordered an horchata she said it was good mine was plain a little spicy but just plain clam broth tomato and ground pepper and beer. They gave us chips and salsa as any other Mexican restaurant would the salsa was tomatoes onion and ground pepper paste picante would've been a smarter choice. We placed our order it took approximately 45 minutes for us to get our food I measured it by drinking 4 beers during the time . No michelada just beers cause the first one was nasty! Food showed up wife ordered taquitos and guac she said they were bland no taste. Me I ordered the Tijuana tour it consisted of three tacos a carne asada a carnitas and a al pastor taco with rice and beans i also ordered a ceviche tostada yes I'm a pig! First the tostada it was fresh great taste and well served then I tasted the tacos they were hard tacos if you have been to Tijuana you know they don't serve them hard. the carnitas were good I would order it again if I return the pastor was burned and tasted like it was a few days old. The carne asada was plain tasted like meat that's grilled without any spice you can't season meat after it's cooked so that was definitely a bad idea I should have eaten them in a the opposite order I just thought the carne asada would be the best taco it is a Mexican restaurant so we pride ourselves on our carne asada. Not here ! Ok so it wasn't all bad they are short staffed I could tell the servers were overwhelmed he told me 20 minutes prior that our food was ready but they were trying to get it out and we're very busy it was super hot when it came out at least the plates were from the heat lamps. The beans were canned and burned from the heat lamp the rice was dry from the heat lamps! Oh but I was getting to the good part! So when we got the chips and salsa I asked for something other then tomatoes and ground pepper well 30 minutes in they brought me a salsa that was fire! Holy crap was it hot! I normally will have 3 beers with my dinner one before my meal one during and one at the end while I wait for my wife to finish her dinner ! I had a nasty michelada and 5 beers to turn the fire off! So if you read this do yourself a favor order the chips and salsa for $3 and a few beers but request the hot salsa avoid the food it's not authentic unless your not looking for authentic Mexican food. I'm grading this on my opinion as a Mexican of 52 years so don't take my word for it try it for yourself. It was clean the atmosphere was good but just not worth a second trip for me. Two stars cause the hot salsa deserves it! read more
