Growing up I always got the chicken meal when I was under the weather so its a comfort food for me. We were greeted when we entered and the staff was ready to take our order. We took a few minutes to decide and then placed our order. It only took a few minutes for our food to be ready. Hi corporate, time to check this location out because what the heck! Some very serious training is needed at this location. I asked if they had nachos, the guy said "yeah would you like me to read the kinds of nachos" Me: "sure" Employee: "uhhh we have shredded chicken and uhhh uhhh actually I don't know" Not a great start. I asked what came on the nachos and he stated "cheese sour cream and chicken" I said "sounds good can I get no chicken?" He said "sure. Your total will be $15" (extremely high for fast food nachos but whatever) Then I was handed the bag with the container completely sideways they practically just threw stuff in the bag and threw it at me without a care in the world. I open the bag. The nachos have chicken on them, guac, pico and all this other stuff my grandson would not eat and we would asked for it without (although we asked for no chicken and still got chicken so doubt they would have listened anyways) I will note that el polo loco corporate website explicitly states that you can substitute or remove toppings. No straw for our drink but put SIX forks in the bag which was just offensive at that point. So now I'm $15 out with a meal my grandson wouldn't eat with some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Then I went and spent another $15 for a dinner he would eat somewhere else. So really I'm out $30 based simply on incompetent employees from this place. I literally had never been to el polo loco before and certainly will never return. read more

Was called in for an interview once I showed up manager said she had no one scheduled for tommroow telling me I had the wrong location. I called the number back and yep it was the right spot same manager that scheduled me for an interview picked up too. Yet they wouldn't go through with it. Last week was my first time coming here (work in area) and marzella was very rude. I wanted to write a review right then and there but figured it could just be a bad day. I've come every day since then and the interaction hasn't been worse but it hasn't been much better. I've kept it to mobile orders since then. Today someone new helped me. Waited a few mins at the register (since I had cash today) until she decided to help. Her name was Esmeralda or something similar and she was super rude smh. Everyone that deals with customers here talk to you like you're stupid. I'll probably still have to come here because of convenience and price (plus it's healthier than other fast food places) but I'm just gonna have to stick to the mobile order route so I don't have to be spoken to like that. Yum! The best El Pollo Loco we've been to, the one in the Riverbank shopping center. Perfect location since we will shop at Save Mart, Target, CVS pharmacy, Home Depot, Wells Fargo Bank and Cold Stone. Close to home. Friendly staff and the food was delicious. Raised in Southern CA where El Pollo Loco originated, i KNOW how their food is supposed to taste. This is not it. The chicken is usually dry, the rice is nearly always over cooked or it has been under the lamp for too long, the pinto beans are bland and thin and the coleslaw is under dressed. I mention these because they are the STAPLES of El Pollo Loco. It is so disappointing because my husband and I were so excited about getting an El Pollo Loco near our home. It did not deliver on the anticipation. I really hope somebody sees this. I don't think it's too late but they really need to rework their food if they stand a chance at surviving that location. We will try it again eventually, but until then if we crave EPL, we will go to their location in Modesto, which serves much better food. read more

We were excited to have El Pollo open up another location a little closer to where we live, we had tried it a couple times in other towns and it wasn't bad. The first time we tried it, the food wasn't too bad,( specially since it's new) the 2nd time was awful. First the order wasn't complete, and the chicken was so over cooked, it was more like chicken jerky. When I went back to get the rest of my order and to let them know how bad the chicken was, they made me feel like I was stealing a carton of beans. Really!? I wouldn't have driven 10 miles for a carton of beans if I didn't get them. As for the over cooked chicken, I was offered 10% off my next meal. I felt like I was slapped on that offer.
