Let me start with the food. I ordered the Classic Chicken Tostada, and I really enjoyed it. El Pollo Loco's Classic Chicken Tostada features fire grilled, citrus marinated chicken, shredded lettuce, rice, pinto beans, fresh salsa fresca, Jack cheese, and sour cream, all served in a crispy tostada shell. It also came with a side of creamy cilantro dressing. The star of the dish was definitely the crunchy tostada shell. It was crispy, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying, especially with the creamy cilantro dressing drizzled onto it. That combination was absolutely heavenly. The grilled chicken provided much needed protein, while the shredded lettuce added lightness and freshness. The pico de gallo did not contribute much in terms of flavor, but I always appreciate extra vegetables. The cheese and sour cream added a nice creamy balance that tied the whole dish together. The meal was priced at $11.59 as of December 2025, which I felt was a fair deal for a filling and satisfying meal. I would have easily given this a five star rating if it were not for the disappointing pickup experience. We placed our order through the app and were told it would be ready in about 4-9 minutes. When we arrived, we discovered that the lobby was closed, forcing us to use the drive through. Half of the cars in line were only there to pick up online orders that were already prepared, while the other half were still placing orders. The result was a chaotic, disastrous, and poorly managed situation that seriously needs improvement. In the end, it took about 30 minutes to pick up a meal that was promised to be ready in 4-9 minutes. I genuinely hope the store's management reads this review and makes the much needed changes, because I really enjoy their food and would hate for this experience to be the reason I do not return. read more

My favorite el Pollo loco location. Food is fresh, ready quickly, and high quality. Location is clean and will kept and staff is always friendly and helpful. I've been to other locations like the one in Hayward and there is a difference no joke. Hayward location's chicken is burnt and dry. This one in Concord is moist and crispy at the same time. There are coupons regularly to make things more affordable and they have good catering deals, too. We get takeout from El Pollo Loco every few months or so. With the family meal, we get a couple days of "fast food" eating. Who knows, but we like to think the chicken is healthier than KFC. Decent side dishes. This most recent time we had cole slaw, mashed potatoes and gravy, and corn. Rice and beans a good option, too. We usually get a mix of tortilllas, flour for DH and a couple packs of corn for me. Weird thing with the corn tortillas which I didn't discover until I was cleaning up. The remaining pack of corn tortillas had only one tortilla, not two. And quite disturbingly it appeared to have a couple of bites out of it. Yuk! Both burritos were incredibly thin and lacked the usual filling and flavor that I expect from El Pollo Loco. It felt like I was eating mostly tortilla with barely any chicken or other ingredients inside. For the price I paid, this was unacceptable. I won't be ordering from this location again. I recommend you don't door dash from this location as they take it as an opportunity to cheat the customer of their portions as they cannot see their order until arrival. I saw on a commercial that they were offering a five dollar lunch box. I knew I had to try. I love a combined meal for a deal price. You got to choose between a few different entrees, a cup of rice and beans, chips, and a churro. This is the first time I have ever tried El Pollo Loco and I am not really sure why I have not before. I ended up getting the guacamole chicken burrito. Honestly it was all pretty good. I don't know if this is something I would come back to get. There might be other surrounding Mexican food places I like better and I try to eat no meat most of the time when I go out. However the churros are literally out of this world. Have always been a huge fan of El Pollo Loco but likely will never eat there again. Tonight I spent $25 on an 8 piece mixed meal with (what should have been) a side of rice and pinto beans. I got it all the way home and opened it to feed my family of 4 and was absolutely appalled at the size of the chicken I just spent $25 on... definitely NOT enough to feed my family AND they gave me black beans (yack) instead of the pinto beans. I couldn't have been more disappointed. The legs and wings were SOOOO friggin tiny, they looked like they came from infant chickens and the breasts were also extremely small compared to usual. Ended up having to cook, which not cooking tonight was the point of picking up dinner. This meal, with the amount of meat we got, was not worth more than 10 bucks. Feeling super ripped off. Embarrassed at how many years I loyally devoted to Taco Bell with this place right down the street! I was so blind, El Pollo Loco - thank you for showing me the light. Prices here are no worse than any other fast food place. 2 Chicken-Avocado Tacos, chips, and a Coke was $7 regular, $5 with a coupon I had from junk mail (it's worth looking through that pile of crap before you throw it out!). The back kitchen has a huge grill with what looks like at least 50 chickens on it at any given time. The place smells amazing, and all the ingredients are fresh. I don't think they've invented synthetic avocados yet, so it's pretty likely you're getting the real deal. Solid salsa bar, clean, and major thumbs up for employing people of all abilities - the kid that went around offering people salsa packs was really sweet and friendly. :-) Great to have a reliable Mexican place in town - never thought I'd enjoy this chain! read more

My friend suggested this place because I was craving Mexican food. The other day was my first time eating El Pollo Loco. I ordered a soft taco with grilled chicken for $1.99 with only 160 calories. The chicken in my soft taco were too dry so I had to wash it down with some water. I also ordered a side of mashed potatoes thinking it would taste like Popeye's or KFC. Nope! It was probably the grossest mashed potatoes I've ever had in my life. I think they used cheap butter or something because my potatoes tasted like milk.
