The only thing wrong with this place is that it is in Arvada and not by my house. I have fond memories of El Pollo Loco from when I was a child, and had not had the pleasure of this divine fast food in decades until recently. My opinion holds up over time; not sure if I will feel the same way about Casa Bonita when I finally have the chance (As a fourth grader I thought their cheese enchiladas and tacos were amazing). I love still love the salsas, especially the avocado one. I remember there being a rotisserie chicken rather than individual and family options by piece. I noticed that the three piece seemed to be actually two pieces with one cut in half (cheating). Whatever, I still like it and the beans and rice even though there are a lot of other options I don't recall being available back in the 1900s when I was a child. I don't remember there being churros either. Maybe I wasn't allowed to have them; either way it's a good thing. read more

I was craving for a taco salad in a shell a few days ago for a quick dinner (as I was between second job shifts in Arvada.) upon searching, this one came up so I gave it a try. Upon arrival, I realized that I came to a chain fast food restaurant type place. I got a bit disappointed because I wanted to get something from a more traditional Mexican place. Still with the little doubt, to save time by not going to a different restaurant, I have this place a shot. To my surprise, this place does draw a steady stream of people. Mostly families, young kids, parents and grandparents, I mean you name it. I guess this casual style fast food Mexican chain appears to be popular. The restaurant inside was spacious and clean so cleanliness is/was spot on. Even the water fountain area wasn't dirty and gross either. They appeared to be keeping up with it for sure. In the kitchen, I saw many workers working and collaborating; they appeared harmoniously efficient. On the open grill, many chicken breast meets were being grilled. A young man who took my order was very professional and prompt. He explained the menu a little to me so I'd have a better understanding of what I was about to get. The taco shell salad I picked was only $11 with tax (you don't tip at a place like this so $11 was the final price.) Not bad! It was about 5-7min before my food was ready. An older gentleman called my name so I walked up to him. He was meticulous and kind to me. My salad in a transparent plastic container looked a good portion. As soon as I got back to my car, I started my dinner. The chicken pieces (salty to my liking) were generously places over the greens (they were decently fresh.) Rice and beans were at the bottom. The creamy cilantro dressing was pretty tasty. And the shell (most important part when it comes to shell salad) was nice and crunchy. Wow, not bad. If the chicken was less salty I would have given a 4-star review. I don't go to a fast food restaurant at all so in a way, I accidentally discovered a decent fast food chain a few nights ago. I'll keep this place in mind for a quick/super casual Mexican food in the future. read more

I used to eat El Pollo Loco weekly when I lived in California. You don't see them around too much anymore. I was so excited when I found this one. We went for lunch on a beautiful Colorado day We got the chicken that comes with your choice of rice ,beans, or .slaw. You get fresh flour tortillas, which were delicious. The idea is to make burritos out of here, accoutrements . The chicken is quite a sight when you walk in and see them all on the grill! Got my tastebuds going right away The chicken was moist and juicy on the inside with a nice crisp skin. The salsa was pretty tasty with a little bit of a kick. The staff were great and very accommodating. You order your food pay for it and then they bring it to the table. The restaurant was clean and bright. I will definitely be going back to get some more chicken! They have other things as well. Chicken bowls, and some soups. I think it's worth a try. read more

Better than Chipotle! I grabbed the chicken bowl. Not too spicy but the chicken had a nice kick. The quality of ingredients were excellent and plentiful, and it was filling. Really hard to find good fire grilled chicken In Colorado. For a fast food style restaurant, this place hits the spot. The price is very good. You can get a ton of food to feed your family for a reasonable price. We always have leftovers and actually eat them. The tortillas are fire along with their green sauce. The side selection is really strong, I've had just about everything. All the sides have been great. Wish we had one of these closer to broomfield. read more

Great place for late (relatively) night eats. The chicken avocado quesadilla was a bit bland and needed some more sauce baked in. The chips & queso were delish- very fresh. Great churros too! This restaurant on Wadsworth took over the Fazoli's which left a while ago. We decided to try something new and it was close by so off we went. First impression is that it is very clean inside. They have drive through but we opted to dine inside. Now from a comfort standpoint it needs improvement. They did have a few bench seats but otherwise there are tables with colorful but not very comfortable metal chairs. However the food itself was quite good. They do have grilled chicken plates and family sized packages. Apparently they are very good but we tried other items. I had the stuffed chicken avocado quesadilla. At about $10 it's pretty meaty and packed with flavor. This is not your Taco Bell place as the food is quite tasty and they are not skimpy on their portions. All those working there seemed very nice. We had a hiccup on getting our food after we placed the order and they ordered churros to our food. All in all a nice place to go though next time we'll try the drive through. I really like this restaurant. The grilled chicken is being cooked all of the time so is hot and juicy. My favorite is the bowl with chicken and corn without beans. The beans are good, I just prefer the meal without them. For online orders, make sure you have your ID because they do check it. read more

This is the second El Pollo Loco location in Colorado (being in Arvada). I've also been to El Pollo Loco in California and Nevada. I've been eating here for the past 3 months since it opened in November 2023. I really enjoy the burritos, bowls, tacos, quesadillas, and tostadas here like the rest. I really enjoy the creamy cilantro dressing. The chicken used is top-notch. The newly introduced crunchy chicken taco is excellent. It's a great competitor to the ones at Taco Bell, but there's far more chicken in it. Also, the ingredients are higher quality. The service is fast, but I order ahead of time with the El Pollo Loco app to earn rewards for free food. The restaurant has a nice brand-new look to it. The location is in a far better neighborhood than the other Colorado one in Denver's Montbello. I'd recommend people in the Metro Denver area to try this place out. read more

Really, really, really delicious! We had not eaten here previousely, but today we changed that. They have a nice menu that you can go either the Mexican route with beans, rice, queso, guac, and salsas or the American comfort route with mashed potatoes, corn, broccoli, and mac n' cheese. Since we hadn't tried it before, we got a small side of every side. While better than other fast food venues, the mashed potatoes and gravy were still meh. But the other sides were good. We decided that since we were trying every side, that we should then have dessert too. The churros were so good and the caramel was especially delicious. Apparently they just opened here and thought I recognized the grill guy from the commercials in LA and turns out it was him! Had cravings for Mexican while on travel. I stumbled on this spot thinking that it was the other Mexican spot that I was just terraced in. As I parked in the parking lot I realized that I was at the wrong Mexican restaurant. So given the time of the day. I just said why not. Came in and I was greeted by a young lady. Told her that I was ordering out. She gave me the menu and I skimmed through it as I was craving for some sort of seafood dish. So I ordered the fish and shrimp with rice. I had flour tortillas with it. When the order came out it was actually set in a nice foil tray and not those usual foam containers. The fresh marinated chicken is flame grilled and very tasty with good portions. They cook it just right. Try the pinto beans on the side--my favorite. There are many choices for sides of salad, broccoli, mac&cheese, and others. Prices are reasonable and it's a great place for a family meal out. read more

I love El Pollo Loco especially their big avocado chicken tostada salad. I can't handle really spicy anymore but use the cilantro ranch dressing and pico de gallo on it. It on the spendy side but has double the chicken of most salads. I have tried their restaurant in Reno and the street tacos were good. I am a creature of habit so tend stick to tostada salad items. They also have chicken they cook fresh as an alternative to kfc. We have eaten at the new Arvada store twice since it opened. My hubby had the stuffed quesadilla- chicken avocado was huge and the second time had the chicken avocado burrito was big also. We also loved the Mango Lime Aqua Fresca. The employees were really nice when we asked about the menu items. I would recommend trying it at least once. read more
