Great place for Mexican food. My wife and I also love their margaritas. Their quasadias are to die for.

Rude RUDE server. I knew exactly what I wanted,, and he let out an exasperated sigh when I said I was ready to order.. This was server 7. He later dumped my plate at my table without a word today and just strolled off- around 3pm, I will NEVER be back. Left the jerk a single penny tip. read more

This place rocks. Anyone who has been around Howell knows this place used to be the ultimate dive bar - The Red Apple. It was dirty and an eyesore. I am so happy the proprietors of El Patron came in and rescued this place, cleaned it up, and created a great, family-friendly place. The enchiladas and quesadillas are amazing and bursting with toppings. Service is prompt. The restaurant is clean and totally takes you to Mexico with the decor. It's a great place to bring kids. And to not bring kids because the specials on margs and Dos Equis rock during the week ($2.99)! One of the best strawberry margs EVER. If you have room for dessert, you must try the Banana Burrito. read more

Your run-of-the-mill, generic Mexican food - but still delicious! Large margaritas, large portions, and FAST SERVICE. My fiance and I were craving Mexican food, and since moving to the area - had not been to El Patron yet. From pulling in the parking lot to arriving back home, it only took us 50 mins for the whole trip. We kicked ourselves for eating so quickly later, but that didn't change the quality of the food. I always order Huevos Rancheros, and I was not displeased with the meal at El Patron. Delicious! We had leftovers to go around, and they were still ok when reheated. read more

El Patron has been opened in Howell, on Grand River for several years. TBH, my favorite kind of Mexican food is the kind I make at home, so we didn't bother to try it before now. My husband and I joined our friends and their children here on a week night. The restaurant was mostly empty, we were seated and greeted quickly. The complimentary chips and salsa were o.k. - the chips were homemade, which is a bonus, but I prefer thin and crispy over thick and crunchy. The salsa had good flavor. Our food came fast - my husband and I shared the triple fajitas, which, I thought would have chicken, steak and shrimp all separately so we could build our own fajitas. I was wrong - they brought it out with all the meats and onions and peppers mixed together. This was fine - the flavor was good. My biggest complaint is that the sprinkled a little cheese on the meat and peppers and didn't bring cheese on the toppings plate. I was super disappointed about that. The refried beans were good and fresh and the quac was good too. The amount was huge and my husband finished the leftovers later. I don't know if I'd go back - probably if someone else picked it. read more

Unremarkable TV dinner type mexican food. Didn't offer Tortas, not even in the lunch section of the menu. Everyone at our table was flabbergasted when we saw we were charged for our leftover containers! That was a first. Word of warning, the plastic lids on the children's drinks are very cheap and do not stay on. An utter disappointment, not even my Mexican ex wife liked it and it was her choice. Left with the distinct feeling that they cut a lot of corners and the food quality suffered as a result. My boy remarked that his meal lacked flavor! Oh and the lights flickered periodically, may want to spend some dinero on an electrician. No need to revisit this joint. read more

Really trying to support our local restaurants but no matter where I order from food it is just not right. This is a suggestion. The food was tasty but the nacho chips and cheese comes in foil pans and the poured cheese is on the bottom with chips on top. You cannot eat this, can't warm it up because it's foil. Cheese on side would help. We threw 2 orders away. The sauce for enchiladas is non existent so food is dry. Maybe put sauce on side. Drink never came with kids order. Please think about how we're going to eat this when we get home. Otherwise good job. read more

This place was by no means a good experience. The parking lot was small and terribly designed. The place was packed so apparently someone likes it. We parked right in front of the road sign that is falling apart, chipping paint, and broken bulbs. We waited in a line that is first come first serve, who does that anymore? Thankfully a large party wasn't clogging the line. Then upon getting seated we waited until after another table was seated and got their drinks before we got to order. The seating was very close and we were packed into the back of the room. Waiters were running around crazy the whole time. And our waiter didn't seem to have any bedside manner, but others looked nice. We weren't asked if our order was ok for quite a while and our drinks got refilled once. But with all that, the food wasn't worth it. Tasteless Mexican. My least favorite. Sorry guys, we won't be back and don't recommend it. read more

Had a party of three they weren't busy they were quick to get to table for drinks and food orders. But that was as good as it would get. Our food came out stagered over about five mins, the portions were very small margaritas were weak I don't think there was any alcohol in it. $90 wasted I feel ripped off. Been here several times and I have nothing to complain about. Always quickly seated and have always had good service. Food is good with reasonable portions. This place is a good value for the prices charged. Place is starting to show some age........clean but not super clean. I will continue to stop in here when I am in town. read more

Being from Southern California, I know my Mexican food and I'm quite picky when it's not up to my standard. This food, however, was fabulous! The service was prompt and polite. Worst Mexican place in town. Searched the web to find out they don't even have a website, or a menu to look at. Decided to order a take out of steak quesadillas and got a taco with steak. Had lunch special #3 ($6.99) and the ground beef taco was incredibly good-had me wishing I had gotten an all taco lunch. Enchilada was as expected with a good red sauce. My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a week day. There may have been two or three other tables with customers. The service was glacial slow. It took forever to get menus, etc. and while we were waiting someone was clearing off the table across from us a loudly as possible, throw the dishes, etc. into the carts. Annoying. Once we finally got the meal the food was acceptable although typical Mexican-ish style compared to some of the authentic Mexican cuisine I've had elsewhere. When we were finished there was no sign of our bill. . .I had to pull someone away from the bar television set in order to pay up and leave. Ridiculously bad service. read more

I have been out in the Brighton area for 5+ years and have really missed having a good Mexican place near by. Found this place by accident and wow, what a surprise. Big beers, great food, low prices, everything you want from Mexican cuisine. I hit it up every time I am in town. Although Los Tres Amigos is also very very good, I think El Patron has a slight upper hand. They also have a secret salsa that is very hot and has an amazing flavor just ask for it. It comes in a yellow squeeze bottle. I cant get enough of it. But beware it is pretty hot. Best thing on the menu: Faja Patron. All day, every day. read more

AMAZING FOOD. Fast service. Great price. Good seating. I get the pechuga mexicana, but all the chicken dishes are superb. The staff is so funny and sweet. Great service. We hardly dig into the chips and salsa before our food is served! The price is a steal, as well. 20 bucks for a great takeout dinner. (that's including a nice tip). There are a lot of big comfortable booths there, which I enjoy. But there are also tables for larger parties. They have great Margaritas too! Love this place. read more
