We had an overall okay experience at Casa Tequila Brighton. My husband didn't finish his beef chimichanga because he really didn't like it at all. He barely ate any of it and without us asking, our waiter kindly removed it from our bill. My husband said it was very plain and very bland beef and the cheese sauce on top tasted canned. It was also a small chimichanga, with the plate being mostly taken up by the rice, beans, and salad that came as a side. When we got there we weren't really greeted either so it started off without great customer service. It also was not busy at all but we almost left before even ordering because nobody came by to take our order for a substantial amount of time. Eventually he did come and take our order and the food came out really quickly so that was nice. My food was great- I ordered option D off the vegetarian menu which included a bean burrito, cheese quesadilla, and chalupa. I cleaned my plate! It was flavorful and a really generous portion. I also liked the chips and salsa that they serve when you're seated. Overall we won't be back. read more

Nice little bar with a great chill vibe off to the right from the front door. We made reservations across the street for dinner. We'll be coming back here for Mexican. The menu looks great. NYE and the bar wasn't full. We sat at the bar and ordered an appetizer and two drinks. I also asked for the house salsa. Idk if it's different but it's definitely delicious. The bartender was pretty slow for the place not being busy but he was nice. Idk where he kept going but he was away from the bar more than he was there. I stopped in for a work lunch with a vendor. I was running behind, and when I arrived - I found my seat with the help of the hostess, without an issue. When I arrived, the chips and salsa were about half gone, I asked for more and they didn't come in what i thought to be a timely manner. I also asked for a water with lemon - which came but without the lemon. So, I was already a bit irritated... I asked for chips and salsa again, and this time around it came... I ordered the Burrito Cochinita. Ordering hispanic food after spending time in South Texas always worries me that my standards are going to drop. While this dish wasn't nearly as good as some of the dishes i had down there. It was pretty tasty. I put it away pretty quickly. My only regret was not getting beans to go with my rice, as it's only served with rice. It was my first trip to Casa Tequila - I would go back, just wasn't the best start to a lunch. When Casa Tequila took over the Italian place, I had my doubts. How many Mexican restaurants does one town need? However, time and time again, they bring it. First, how big are these standard margaritas?! Take a frozen lime one, add jalapeño, and I'm sold. And the fact that they offered to put the remainder in a to-go cup for me? My man! The tacos barria are amazing! The guacamole is the real deal, too, and the outside patio makes for the perfect setting on a warm day or evening. Great service, great food, great portions. read more

Met a dear friend and family member for dinner. Brighton is such a cute town and restaurant was easy to find and had nearby parking. Was seated at a booth in the bar area and was comfortable and good atmosphere. Ordered the Burrito Mexicano and it was probably the best burrito I've ever had. It was larger than I expected and was oh so good! The slow cooked pork with all the onions and peppers and tomatoes inside, topped with a delicious cheese sauce outside -- mwah!! Decent Mexican restaurant located on Main St in downtown Brighton. The location is a huge plus and some aspects of our meal were very good and other parts just mehh. From a positive standpoint their outside dining terrace is very inviting and spacious and a great place to eat a meal on a nice day. Chips and salsa were gratis and very tasty and our service was very friendly and prompt with very good followup during the meal. Relative to the main courses which were the beef Fajita salad bowl and a Burrito, they visually looked amazing but the taste was unfortunately very bland. I get the fact that they are trying to avoid upsetting customers with too seasoned/spicey of food but when you dumb it down to this level you are probably leaving all your customers wondering where the flavor is. There is a happy medium here and they really need to offer it in their menu where it can at least be seasoned a bit more short of making it too spicey. Bland entree's aside, I can still see myself returning here on a nice day as I really did like the terrace seating they offer and really really enjoyed my Margarita on the warm summer day we visited this business. read more

Yummy New Mexican restaurant in Downtown Brighton (one of the last restaurants on the main strip). Delicious food and many choices! If you're a margarita drinker, they have tons of tequilas to choose from. If you're not, they have fun cocktails and a full bar. Free Chips and salsa the moment you sit down. Highly recommend Sex on the Playa and a marg with Cabo Wabo. We also loved the tacos and enchiladas chipotle. Parking: if you're not one to snag street parking, there is a half pavement/half gravel lot across the way by the railroad tracks. And it's free Atmosphere: casual and fun. Feel free to wear whatever attire you choose Seating: I wish the outside had igloos or heaters because that patio looked awesome! Inside is kind of crammed. I'd hate to see if there was a wait, as there's really no place to stand when you walk in. The front area has booths and the bar area has tables and high tops (maybe some booths around the corner). We sat at a 4-person high top and had plenty of room Service: our waitress looked a bit overwhelmed at first because we came in at 7pm on a Friday night but she made sure everything was exactly how we ordered it and wanted it. We were a bit taken back when we saw one of our entrees was wrong. The food runner didn't understand what the waitress was saying (that it was the wrong tortilla shell) and our waitress stated to us, "She didn't understand. It's a Spanish thing." I was debating between 2 and 3 stars but will give them 3 because the server was fantastic. Delightful young man who knew the menu and made recommendations. He was also quite attentive. I had these roast beef tacos. They looked amazing but I just didn't love the flavor. They would have been better with some queso on them. Shells were kinda greasy too. My enchiladas Suizas had a brightly flavored verde sauce; the chicken filling was fine. The rice and beans were OK. The chips were fresh and warm and the salsa was very good. My dinner guest ordered the fried fish tacos, which weren't exactly fried. The tortillas also had a light chemical smell to them, maybe from the calcium dioxide during the tortilla making process? I'm not certain but it was unpleasant. The ambiance was peculiar. It made me think of the Alamo or cave. I didn't peek at the bar area but what little I could see from our booth it looked bright and more inviting than the main dining room. I walked in and felt like I was walking into a completely different world. We waited for a minute before we were seated. We asked to sit in the car and got a booth. It was happy hour so I loaded up on house Margaritas and they were delicious. The food came hot and fresh. The Ingredients were on point and for the price we felt we got a good portion of food. Deducting one star as they don't have prices on the drink menu, don't automatically provide an itemized copy of the bill, and don't have a 20% default option on the Toast machine. I believe the options were 15% or less, 25% and 30%, so I had to ask the waiter to hand the terminal over to type in 20%. I then forgot to ask for an itemized receipt and had to call and get one. They provided it, which is how I learned that my husband's margarita, which was delicious, was $22. We might have gotten it anyway, but I just prefer more price transparency. read more

I am very picky on enchilada sauce but I figured I would try. The sauce it's self was good but the sauce they had in meat tasted sweet. Did not like. Well this place went from 5 star to a 1 star rating in weeks time. Was excited to come back here again after our first visit as the food was really good. Well that all changed tonight. Waiter was a complete air head. Told us they don't serve unsweet tea only sweet tea(hum...we had unsweet tea last week when we we here.) Had to repeat our appetizer order three times(we only ordered 1) that's not hard to comprehend. When we ordered our dinner again had to repeat everything multiple times. When our dinner came out the runner started putting at the wrong table . My friends was put on the table in front of some lady. When asked the table who had tamales they said no one and she brought them straight to our table. my was made wrong. My friends food after being at the other table the runner tried to give him the plate and he refused as it was now contaminated by the other person. He sent it back, a minute later our waiter tried to deliver the same plate of food he just refused and told the waiter why and he no longer wanted the dish at all and to cancel it. advised my order was wrong and instead of making it right or attempting to fix it they gave me 10% discount off. I had the combo again as last time and the tamales were cold from being refrigerated and not heated to proper temperature. Who ever made the refried beans must be new as they were awful. This was just a sad experience and will not be returning as training and quality is definitely lacking. read more

Waited awhile after grand opening to visit. Exceeded the impression of the negative Yelp reviews. Went for lunch on a Thursday. Arrived at about noon. They were busy, but we were seated right away. 15 minutes later there was a 15-30 minute wait. Took FOREVER to get our food. When it finally arrived it was mostly "good". We enjoyed the chips (warm and crisp) and salsa, which was served in a small pitcher with individual bowls--a nice touch while we waited (and waited). Companion ordered carne asada tacos . They held the onions and cilantro as requested. The tacos arrived displayed on a stainless steel taco rack, with pico and a spicy sauce! He enjoyed very much. I ordered the lunch combo #4. The enchilada was very nice and they added onion as requested. The rice was the awful orange stuff common to Mexican plates--with no veggies or flavor. The refried beans were just beans with a sparse sprinkle of cheese. The taco was terrible! Had obviously been swimming in the enchilada sauce for quite awhile. Bottom was completely dissolved. The meat had an odd flavor--and the lettuce was kind of tossed toward the middle of the plate! A huge disappointment. Think this could easily be solved by rearranging the plating so the enchilada and taco are at opposite ends of the plate and making the taco filling taste better. Overall, edible food, strange atmosphere with old wine barrels and fake tree branches, and just ok food. Most annoying was the number of people waiting at the doorway/host desk. They have no seating or waiting area unless you want to sit in the bathroom vestibule. It felt like they were hovering over us for a table! It pains me to write this review about this much anticipated new restaurant opening. But I feel our home town of Brighton has been anxiously awaiting the opening of Casa Tequila. Many of my friends were hoping to finally get a really good, authentic Mexican restaurant , with great quality food , service , and nice atmosphere. This week was the opening week, so my family and I went to dinner on Thursday evening. The inside, new patio and decor are awesome and they upgraded the one very small restroom from the previous ownership. Still to small for the number of guests this place can hold on a busy day, but cleaner. The service to be blunt was terrible, our server was not trained well and had a challenge taking a drink order . Then food orders came and they said at one point " I don't know how to not give you beans or rice with your meal so you might just get it anyway ". Really???? How about this one " I'll right changes in suggestion area but they don't read instructions well in the kitchen so no guarantees it comes out right " Ok that one shocked us . 45 min later the food came out and was cold and when we ordered it was not wall to wall people. Lastly, the menu is just like the owners other restaurants Tres Amigos nothing special at all and for the hundred dollars, plus tip I paid we agreed we won't go back. All this time waiting for this new place and so disappointed to say the least. We will gladly keep driving to Mexican Village in Detroit, even with current gas prices or go to Maya Cocina Mexican in Livonia to get great Mexican food, awesome drinks and top service and for this price I'll pay more for great food.
